  • Velly nice. Off to look at your others.

  • I can tell what film stock was Ektachrome 100D. Because some of the scenes from this video has different color tones and grain, it cant be kodachrome.

  • i think you're correct. i did shoot some of this, because the exercise was to go out and shoot on a bolex camera, but when i edited this, i collected samples from everyone in the class. do you want me to figure out where they develop their 8mm film?

  • Hey colleen, it's Shiva.

The bolex exercise was actually on 16mm. I don't know about now, butback then the closest place to Vancouver which developed 8mm film was in Seattle. I'm not sure if that place still exists.

I transfered the film fottage from our class onto tape to be ready for grad reel edit and they were all shot on 16mm.

    Cheers :)

  • Okay. So you just got in the telecined form and weren't the one shooting it.

Still, I'm pretty curious as to where they developed and telecined it. There aren't very many places that still keep around 8mm/s8 gates, not to mention bother to process film in that format (the stock looks like Kodachrome to me).

  • Also, if you are indeed based in Van - where did you develop and had the film transferred to video? I think the only place that develops 8mm is Northwest FX, which is pretty pricey and E6, ie. ektachrome only.

  • i don't know the stock. this is 8mm film shot on a Bolex Camera. this is all footage from vancouver film school and they supplied the filmstock for us. this footage is footage shot during a cinematography exercise so we were just learning at that point. my guess is it's a daylight stock of some sort, but i don't know the asa. and yes they do develop it in van, but i don't know the lab.

  • Looks fun, and a lot like Vancouver.

What stock was this? Looks very nice. Far better than super 8 stuff I see on here shot on cameras for twice the price.

  • Very nice. What was the exact name of this camera?

  • it's a Bolex camera and it uses 8mm film.
