As a society they are changing. America is choosing to have smaller families as well. In Japan a lot of it has to do with cost. It is extremely expensive to raise a family, so many people choose to only have 1 child, unlike in previous generations.

There's a difference between "sufficiently advanced AI" and a human analog. I mean, if nothing else, a sufficiently advanced AI would be WAY more stable than a human substitute. I mean, we don't understand how the human brain works-if we reproduced it in another medium, we wouldn't necessarily understand how it works there either. So a simpler AI is actually SUPERIOR to simply duplicating how humans think.
