Doesn't the smoke switch mean your cutting out the turbo, what I mean is the sensor on the turbo is spliced and you put a toggle switch on it to cut off the turbo for smoke, I know you can do it to a Duramax. Which I own a 6.0 now but I mainly am good with cummins

The smoke is unburnt fuel in the form of carbon. This truck is "chipped" meaning that there is an external computer that manually over-rides the stock ECU's fuel settings allowing the user to control how much fuel is put into the engine. More fuel=more power. It smokes less at higher revs because the engine is more readily able to burn the fuel.

stock for stock is there a difference in sound when comparing a 03-04 6.0 to an 05-07 6.0, i no they changed the ecu for like 10 more lb/ft of tq but do they sound any different?

The turbos are different. Still variable but the newer ones have a couple more veins/blades whatever. That quiets down the turbo a bit when straight piped.

Do you even know what a carburetor is? It constricts the flow of air and fuel into the engine. On a diesel, there is no air restriction, only fuel, and the way they restrict fuel is with electronically controlled injectors, not a carb. Diesel wouldn't work with a carb.

theres no air restriction cause u just turn up the boost to get more air. a carb mixes fuel and air. no powerstroke has a carb. no diesel has a carb for that matter. the fuel needs to be highly pressurized.

Yep. I know plenty about diesels. I drive a '99 f350 7.3 and a '81 jetta diesel. Fun stuff. Its always good to know about different kinds of cars. Its weird looking at the engine of the jetta. The intake is just a hole with an air filter going straight to the cylinder head with no restriction.

just unplug the vgt switch coming off turbo, splice one of the two wires, and hook up an on/off switch its easy, there are about 10 of us running these in a small little town in nc, and no i dont mess the turbo up because the vains are just opening up , just watch your egts, and you have to have a chip that throws enough fuel to the motor in order for this to work

Like any tuner, adding more power is going to put more stress on stock gaskets. All my internals are stock I haven't had any problems yet. The reason the SCT is the best for the 6.0 powerstroke is because it tunes the trans as well as the engine so they work together and safer. If you were going to add any power I woulnt touch anything other than SCT

I agree with you on this, I have the Edge juice w/ attitude monitor on my 07 6.0 which is on the fly settings, which doesnt completely flash the transmission settings when it changes tunes. SCT will soon be a part of my PSD.

Really? Because I see a lot more diesel engines hitting 300,000+ miles than gas engines... My workplace uses the Dodge Ram 2500 & 3500s with the Cummins (non turbo), they all have at least 250K, (one has 380K) miles, they rarely break down, and pull trailers from 3-9 thousand pounds every day.

As for health, it's never healthy to inhale exhuast fumes, whether it's from diesel or gas.

yea and vs the engine size they have low hp. my dads old volvo soon have 500000km on it. no rebuids. I have seen lots of japanese and european cars with 500000km on them and no engine rebuilds. try using startgass on your diesel, it will break fast.lol!! a petrol engine will clean up your dirty diesel exhaust. that is how clean it runs. petrol exhaust are almost only water and co2.

As for HP, diesels aren't that bad (trucks). the 5.9 cummins produces gobs more torque than the comparable gas. In cars, diesels ruin the sporty nature. I have a 2000 BMW M5 i bought as a project car, and i wouldn't trade it for the world!
