Deguello means, literally, "no quarter". a fight without accepting surrender. How brave were those men when they knew they were to die? Excellent singer and musician. It would be great if the spelling errors were corrected. Who is the recording artist?
@Avenged7fold645 El Deguello was a song that meant no quarter, no surrender, no mercy to the losers. It was a song that was played. It was played at the Alamo to signify there would be no quarter, no surrender, no mercy to the defenders of the Alamo.
~~ I am proud to be a Texan...God Bless the decendants of all these men, and the ones born there due to their temporary loss at this Battle. I thank God, that I was born, A TEXAN! and the spirit we convey, is...YES I AM A FIGHTER! And always will!~~
Proud to be Texan? You should be. Great state, minus the bigger-n-better-n-you attitude............ and minus Bush Junior, who made Santa Anna look like a piker with regard to arrogance, ignorance and disregard for human life. Weapons of mass, my A**. But Texas is a wonderful state with phenomenal people who are justifiably proud. However, ya might want to thank some of the other states that helped MAKE YOU A TEXAN.
this is another thing that proves that we texans fight for our right to be free, and will never stop. this was one of the most remeberable things of the civil war(the 2nd was goliad)
This song never ceases to move me. I think of the courage of the Texans who fought for the founding of a republic. Visit the city of Houston and you will find the notheast southwest streets of Travis, Fannin, Milam and San Jacinto. Texas must never forget their heritage as a free republic.
@Weatherbyrd We need to remember that. If this fucking oppressive centralized federal government keeps screwing us we need to become a free republic AGAIN! Fuck King Hussein and his bastard government thugs.
When I hear this song it sorta makes me wanna cry. All those men fought so bravely, knowing that they would probably die, and yet they stayed to protect what was dear to them. Their families and their freedom. The fought so hard for those 13 long days to an end where they were all killed. But their story made people even more willing to fight for Texas. Who really won that day at the Alamo?
Travis thought that he could resist for long and then receive help, because he was told that mexes were unable and unwilling to attack in open field, supposedly because they were cowards. The fact was that mexes went wave after wave without flinching, the first lines faced certain death, but they kept going until overrided the texans. And, there were not 5000 mex, were only 1500.Other 3500 were somewhere else. The mex lost 500, 30%; only brave armies stand those loses and keep going.
@powerdriller10 I never said the Mexicans weren't brave, I was just saying that the odds were bad but the Texans still held strong for so long. It's that kind of stuff that makes me proud to be an American.
@mnjames7 Vermont Republic (1771-1791) ,Ancient Hawaii and later the Kingdom of Hawaii (????-1895) , and The California Republic (1846), through the California Republic was for all intents and purposes a military junta set up by the US with the sole intention of joining the US.
This song is soo amzing dont remember the Alamo because the Texans lost or because Mexico won...Remember it because of the courage and bravery that was shown on both side..:)
The texans were militia and the tennessians were filibusters. They were not formally trained soldiers they were more than that they were rugged and self-trained pirates. The mexes were forcefully levied and their training in the best cases was so-so. In spite of that, the mexes charged against canon balls, suffering tremendous 33% losses, but still going forward, till the last waves penetrated the Alamo heroic defenses (Heroism fighting for the propagation of Slavery).
@powerdriller10 first of all , I bet you aren't american , second please try saying that to a texan. The battle was nevertheless heroic , and this song is nevertheless awsome. Those men were heroes who died for their country and they should be rememeberd so . I beg you to think before posting simillar comments since you probably made some people (including me even though I am not american) rather pissed .
Hey! You are croatian! Just remember the suffering of your people when the fucking turks enslaved the whole area, your brothers bosnians converting to the nasty islam and serving the filthy asiatics as a troy horse. Your brothers, serbians, guardians of the gate, last-standing against the ottomans while the austrians capturing your land Croatia. So the USA expansionists did in Mexico, they conquered land to promote Slavery, just like the turks.
@powerdriller10 I disagree . The Turks enslaved a crotian speaking territory where crotians lived . In this case Travis and Bowie were both from Texas and considerd themselvs Amercans. This wasn't capturing Mexican land , but freeing American . Besides , in this case Santa Anna was the cruel, conquering dictator , and the americans were the liberators . Though I congradulate your detailed knowlage of this battle and the situation in my country long ago , I can't agree with you .
At that time, there were two kind of texans, the first : the settlers, who were comfortable being mexican citizens until 1832 when a centralist government in Mexico was installed and imposed more taxes and prohibitions. This situation helped the other kind of texans --South USA filibusters like Houston-- who went to Texas to cause trouble to separate it from Mexico, and whose real purpose was opening more territory for Negro Slavery (not exactly "Freedom" fighters).

The mexicans were actually about 1500, the Alamo defenders 187. The mexican soldiers were not well armed and did not carry adequate artillery. Travis did not think of sacrificing himself, he thought that the mexican soldiers were cowards and will never try to charge unshielded against direct artillery and muskete fire. I dont give a damn if those morons think that the alamo siege was a lie. Their fabrications will NEVER diminish the sence of honor and pride felt by all who have heard the glorious tale.
the real truth is that americans migrated to Texas which was part of Mexico because there was more oppurtunities than the united states just like mexicans are doing now but once Mexico abolished slavery americans got mad and started a war which was funded by the french after the independence of Texas they then went into civil war between the north and south for the same reason the right to have slaves..
Every year research is discovering that much of what we have been told about the Alamo is total frabrication, myth, and YES, sometimes outright lies. Read Exodus from the Alamo: Anatomy of the Last Stand Myth for those brave enough to question that most of what you have heard is bull. I will have more resource material next posting. For the serious people on the page, and not the brainwashed, we are open to hearing the otherside and the NEW research.
You know you moron, wether its not a myth or it is, why the hell would you want it to be one. You would rather believe that its lie than hold on the chance there were men who stood to face overwhelming odds to stop the tyranny that was holding Texas? You sicken me, and i hope to god us "brainwashed people", dont meet whoever wrote the fkin book!!!!!!
Only an idiot nazi would use the term "Moron" (disabled person). Your a real bright fellow! You better hope that people who know the truth don't run into you, or your ignorant comments might be recorded SCUM BAG
No, Mr. Communist, moron seems to be the right term. YOUR OBVIOUSLY DISABLED IN THE HEAD. I doubt that anyone who knows your socalled "truth" would be able to do anything anyway. Nobody in their right mind would buy into the bull that book puts out and if you cant see that then you shouldnt be posting here!

So shut up and Get out cause we dont want you here!
you tell me how you can believe that now, after more than a 100 years, there is now new light on where and how the battle took place. how could they possibly know that there was a predawn skirmish in the fort, or that most of them died trying to escape. Stupid people trying to change 100+ years of history because they cant come to grips with the fact that a legend waws born in those 13 days.
Look Tick slime, most people know that history is slanted in favor of the victors, sometimes longer than a mere 100 years. Your the stupid one ASS FACE. Get an education you dumb ass high school drop out. Better yet go suck on more of the propaganda that your dumb ass has been programed to believe. What a DUMMY!
@Deguello321 Fuck off ya Mexican ass lick, yer Mom wus a coonskin dressup as a whore ass hole, an I see ya know alot about beaver butt, that figures ..Viva El Alamo. an ta the real men who kicked ass fer 13 days, not a snivlin coward like you ya ass wipe.
I happen to be white you dum ass peckerwood. You ignorant swap sucking shit face coward. Stick the Alamo up your butt for 13 days and death to your coward Alamo slave owning shir bastards. All of your coward friends died at the Alamo by running. COWARD!
Zoro is really Zero! Coward! Fuck you and Jim Bowie and the rest of those coward runners. They never fought to the last man ___THEY RAN stupid bitch!
Bet you and your racist scumbag ass was a whore for Charles Manson. Go by a Helter Skelter CD and slam it up your coward ass, you sticking filthy egg sucking Nazi tramp. Go wipe your sorry ass with a coonskin hat you fucking RACIST BITCH
@Deguello321 and PS: Go back to fantasy land and continue to believe the crap about this fictionalized battle. You would make a good suck ass--bet that's what your doing now fucking brown noser!
Every year research is discovering that much of what we have been told about the Alamo is total frabrication, myth, and YES, sometimes outright lies. I like the song, but it's rather inaccurate. Santa Anna killed all the men, but the women and children were left alive, which is not mentioned; nor is the fact that Houston and his men did eventually come to the Alamo and overtook Santa Anna with the cry of "Remember the Alamo!"
Ya no shit, we fucking lost the Alamo and the Battle of the Goliad, every defender was killed!
That's one thing that pisses me off, whenever someone talks about the Alamo thinking we won it, bullshit.
The whole reason the Alamo was important was because of the bravery of the men wanting freedom from a dictator they thought would be federalist, but was actually centralist. The battle of the Alamo probably was the reason why we won at San Jacinto.
It's still very hard to believe that all these men (except the coward frenchman) didn't run away when it was possible, that they were so willing to die and to leave everything they had for a freedom we (almost) no longer care about. Often I wish I had been given this wonderful chance! God bless these brave men and God bless our beloved lonestar state.
Life decided for my birth place to be thousands miles aways from Texas, I'm willing to repair its mistake ;)
First of all, Houston didn't send Travis, he sent Bowie to destroy the Alamo! But Bowie refused to, and used it as a fort. And all of the men croosed Travis's line, except for a man named Moses Rose, who ran away.
@OniYoshiable i believe he didn't cross the line because his wife was blind and had noone to look after her? dying for yor country sounds like fun but I think leaving because of your wife is a good excuse
@OniYoshiable also it said Tennessee and Texas was the only states where the men came from but also the first all-black(not racist just saying) soldier group came from New Orleans, Louisiana
You write like you imagine yourself to be some eleven king from lord of the rings crossed with Morpheus from the Matrix. Drop the superiority complex and talk to people like they actually are people, individuals that actually matter. Maybe then you would actually gain a hearing.
The battle of the Alamo is one of the best stories in American history. These men knew they would die but chose to fight anyway to defend the Mexican constitution of Mexico 1824. They didn't even know Texas had declared independence.
Actually they knew or believed or strongly hoped that indedepence would be declared very soon. But I would say their fall back position was the Mexican ...1924, which had been betrayed by Santa Anna and the forces behind him.

Kirinationable 1 year ago
@Kirinationable there were 5000 there but only 2400 Mexicans were fighting
185 Texian Militia men were believed to have killed anywhere from 600 to 1200 Mexican soldiers.
We know 600 for sure but its unkown how many more died.
Either way they held for 13 days against a force that vastly outnumbered them.
Also we must remember the Texians were not Military men, they had no military history holding off highly trained and heavily equiped Mexican soldiers
TexasPatriot93 1 year ago
It was 2400 mexicans and not 5000 but it sounds a lot better with 5000.

It's great living in the area where many of the great events which shaped the Republic of Texas played out.
Just last year another load of artifacts from the Battle of San Jacinto were discovered in a swale where they were abandonded by the Mexicans.
Texas has a rich history & is very interesting reading.

the real truth is that americans migrated to Texas which was part of Mexico because there was more oppurtunities than the united states just like mexicans are doing now but once Mexico abolished slavery americans got mad and started a war which was funded by the french after the independence of Texas they then went into civil war between the north and south for the same reason the right to have slaves..

I like the song, but it's rather inaccurate. Santa Anna killed all the men, but the women and children were left alive, which is not mentioned; nor is the fact that Houston and his men did eventually come to the Alamo and overtook Santa Anna with the cry of "Remember the Alamo!"
Grimmwolf25 1 year ago
@Grimmwolf25 actually santa anna only let 2 women live. all others were killed

@Mrpiesayshi

This is incredible. We should all live our lives to the fullest. Never forget the Alamo! Well done.

BradleyTheCowboy 2 years ago
First of all, Houston didn't send Travis, he sent Bowie to destroy the Alamo! But Bowie refused to, and used it as a fort. And all of the men croosed Travis's line, except for a man named Moses Rose, who ran away.
OniYoshiable 2 years ago 3
Yeah, for some reason its in the sing tho, probably it was used as a means to make the song.
Leon8879 2 years ago
@OniYoshiable from what i hear the man who ran was french or was of french decent

You write like you imagine yourself to be some eleven king from lord of the rings crossed with Morpheus from the Matrix. Drop the superiority complex and talk to people like they actually are people, individuals that actually matter. Maybe then you would actually gain a hearing.
JesseGeorgePenner 2 years ago
The battle of the Alamo is one of the best stories in American history. These men knew they would die but chose to fight anyway to defend the Mexican constitution of Mexico 1824. They didn't even know Texas had declared independence.
000MrAnderson 2 years ago
Actually they knew or believed or strongly hoped that indedepence would be declared very soon. But I would say their fall back position was the Mexican ...1924, which had been betrayed by Santa Anna and the forces behind him.
