FYI: I've always been told to remove bay leaves before eating, because they tend to stay really hard and can cut the gums or the lining of your gastrointestinal system. Easiest ways to remove it are to first put it in a tied cheese cloth or even an tea strainer.
Yes of course you can just pick it to remove it, but what's easier: searching through the whole dish for the remaining leaves or pulling out a cheese cloth that you attached a string to? I'll go with the latter. :)

you can just pick it and throw it after cooking with it...just dont crush it while youre cooking with it coz for sure its gonna be hard to remove...
