  • Diagnosed laziness.

  • I can't imagine ever getting to a state like this. I feel terrible for these people, and for the millions of people who suffer from hoarding.

  • i'll call it procrastination.... TOO LAZY TO THROW THOSE THINGS. >,<

  • so does this mean they like to keep many items so that they feel happy? because they were unhappy before?

  • Comment removed

  • Some may call this junk. Me I call them treasures.

  • I think I'll go and clean out my basement now.

  • pretty sad people that usually do this have severe mental disabilities and drug problems just throw your shit away and stop crying

  • Listen im a Hoarder..If you dont understand..DOnt crticize what you dont understand..I cant help it :'(

  • @Schrumunc Hoarding is a very deep emotional mental health issue in some people, it can relate to the loss of someone dear to them, the fear of being alone, lots of things, it is very real and is noted in every anxiety/despression/ literature around, it can also be related to OCD but not necessarily all the time --- If thse pple had broken arms in these clips maybe you could understand better - its real and its true and sad at the same time --- I know !!

  • @shahbazi37 I recently lost someone and its gotten worse and worse ...Is another sign of Hoarding getting attached with inaminate objects

  • Hoarder's crack me up,I know it's a serious condition, but it's kind of funny if you think about it.They hate to get rid of anything,I love the show's like this too,I'd buy a box set if they have one.To put on top of my huge mountain of stuff, does that make me a hoarder? lol!

  • I bet you those greedy corporate motherfuckers that fuck up the whole planet for a profit through war and shit, reincarnate as these miserable hoarding fools.

  • i have a horrible feeling im gonna end up like this, ive still got things in my room from when i was 5/6 i dont wanna get rid of anything and i attach a time and place to each thing as a reason not to get rid of it,,,, does that make me a hoarder?

  • @taska247 start parting with those things now and get rid of them. or else you will become a monster with feces piling up to your ceiling.

  • oh sweet jesus..

    *raisins face*

    I'M A HOARDER

  • whats so hard in cleaning up after yourself and cleaning up your house seriously

  • @isuckMJ2 That has nothing to do with it. Hoarding is a form of OCD it takes a lot of therapy to overcome it... :)

  • All hoardings will be dispersed, whatever rises will be cast down, all meetings must end in separation, life must finally end in death.

    Gautama Buddha

  • Some people that just say "Oh shake it off, you're lazy" is not the right answer. Some people need to understand that this is considered a mental illness and people just cannot control, IT IS NOT an excuse of being lazy, some people just can't prevent the urge because of a significant even that has happened in their earlier lives that has caused them to do this. They just need something to trigger the "missing bolts" in their brains or maybe therapy.

  • @titansarethefuture

They cannot resist the urge to not clean their tolets and to have a simi clean kictchen? Not all hoarders have really dirty houses, but most do.

I think these people have urges to hoard, BUT they should be able to see the light and say "Hey, hoarding is actually not good for me. It's making my life a heck lot worse...".

  • @RandommmStuff Yes that's true some do see the light, but MOST don't wanna admit that they have a problem

  • People rummaging in my damn trash bins...Id be so annoyed, so annnoyed.

  • sorry i dont buy the oh well i had a tragedy and that made me a hoarder.i have had tons of losses and tragedies broguht 2 sons up alone worked full time and had many devastations.theyre just plain simple lazy bastards

  • Glad im the complete opposite...i dont get attached to things at all...the less i have the more free i feel....

  • Lls

  • @andrtaker me too!! :D

  • I have a lot of respect for Melodie. She manages to be an extreme hoarder without being a complete slob.

  • Must understand these people need so much help. All it starts with is a trigger, some event in their live that starts this and you can't let go of something.

People put feelings on stuff that cannot feel. They need to hold on to it no matter how much it is trash, garbage.

The brain must be trained to clear out and clear away. They must learn not to attach themselves to material stuff and just keep a few, listen to when they talk and what they say. The attach meaning to the stuff.

  • I like the A&E Hoarding show better.

  • 4:13 how embarrasing! I cant believe she goes through other's people garbage (reminds me of Sims 3)...

  • @ 4.18 - Yes she is hurting the walking sticks by hoarding them! I hope she realises that!

  • I'm watching this because of southpark. ;)

  • After I watched this saddened story of the hoarders, I'm cleaning up my room. What do you think?

  • @dmana3172 Yeah, I always get the urge to clean after I see shows like this, even if the house is already immaculate.

  • i can understand this but it's the ones who don't throw out their garbage and rotting food or clean their toilets etc. it's like they're not really hoarders, they just wish they had a maid.

  • what a waste...time and money on a dr. or counselor....they just need

a swift kick in the ass every half hour til its clean..

  • How can they afford everything without a job?

  • @hahahaloveful I assune they get the dole and probably some sort of incapacity benefit for their "illness"!

  • I am 21 and when I started working in 2009 I bought many online things. Things for my computer, living room, etc...

In my bedroom I had a stack of boxes, packages, etc that would touch the ceiling. I then realized that it was wrong and I have recently fixed everything. My bedroom smells and looks very nice and all the boxes, packages are where they belong.

    My message to young hoarders...

CHANGE YOURSELF WHILE YOU CAN! You need to fix it now while you still can before its too late.

    Bye.

  • the easiest way to clean a hoarders house is with gasoline and a match

  • only watching this because of south park

  • @The656 lol , i watched this and then i found out about south park, so i watched south park, and then went back to finish watching this hehe (>_<) ,, "no, dont take my sandwich! , i might need that!!" lol

  • @The656 Me too lol

"I'm a sheep herder. Yes yo are hurting sheep by hoarding them, it's good realise that".

  • @richardmoores "It's pronounced hoarder"

  • @sciencealwayswins Yea you are hoarding sheep by hurting them, it's good you realise that!

  • correct those kind of people are just lazy and mess, how they could live with that kind of house, it's morethan a junk shop.. OMG!!

  • why do people coddle these morons? PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE and say tough shit!!! my god!! kill them!

  • this is jus digustin im sorry juss filthy ass people

  • she doesnt work? how the hell could she afford to hoard?! damn it my taxes are paying for her to stay at home and hoard?! ugh!

  • "There are so many people in poverty that can't afford to buy canes." Sorry, but that just made me laugh. Not trying to be a dick, it just sounded so bizarre.

  • "years of therapy and medication have not helped her hoarding" has she tried visiting the city dump?

  • i can totally relate to that kind of problem. i have a lot of trouble thowing out useless little things from when i was a kid. little toys and stuff just bring back memories that i would lose forever if i was to throw them out. i just hope it doesnt get worse and i end up living like a pig.

  • what's the definition of a hoarder? people that likes trash?

  • @i12k No, this is an emotional issue that results in keeping of a large amount of things.

  • @easykeytolife lol my uncle is a hoarder, not an extreme one but a hoarder non the less

  • @i12k like useless crap.. like keeping shopping bags and ticket stubs and just everything.. even like a coke bottle may be attatched to a good memory.

  • @i12k Its when people become to attached to objects to throw them whether it be a tattered book or broken tv

  • @i12k lmfao, upboat.

  • 7 people are such uncontrollable hoarders they can't find the thumbs up button

  • The world's most brilliant people have had psychological issues in one form another, so don't turn it into an "intelligence" issue, which most likely applies to you.

  • Holy crap this is hardcore. I just "hoard" videogames (tho I keep them organized, like James Videogame Nerd), books (tho I keep them organized in my personal library), and I think that's it. I have some unorthodox decorations (a few swords, some angel figures) but they are few enough that they are decorations. Oh, and I keep a few Magic / Pokemon decks (about 6 total). Is that considered hoarding?

  • @DrQuijano maybe a little hoarding....the pokemon decks are too much lol

    ;)

  • @DrQuijano I think you just have a healthy hobby really... The fact that it's all organised and stuff... and so long as it doesn't take over you... like you feel compelled to go out, or look for games and swords etc just to add to your collection...

  • @DrQuijano

if you take care of your collections and put them on a shelf its not "hoarding". Hoarders just stack up their stuff in piles and dont know what they have or got. They go on about how its has sentimental value but they just chuck it on stack of crap where it can get crushed or broken. I have nearly 1000 movies on DVD/Bluray but every one of them is cataloged and stored on shelves. I don't consider myself a "hoarder" at all. There is a difference between collect and horde

  • I'm sorry but some people are just nasty. Throw sh!t out. You don't need meds to take out the trash. If you want to take pills - take them, but take out the trash. We've turned into an illness society looking for a magical fix for everything.

  • @VideoGuyNC lol but that's the problem - they can't seem to throw shit out cause they become so emotionally attached to those things. Think of your favourite item - now throw it out... it ain't that easy.

  • @VideoGuyNC well said, im so sick and tired of "its not my fault" in this country. friggin get it together people. i install cable and internet services and let me tell you, far more people live like this that most people would guess. Ive thrown out several sets of clothes after being in these peoples houses.

  • You know these people should go work at the salvation army or goodwill, they can go collect all the good stuffs that people throw out and give them to the poor instead of keeping them in their house

  • they call the "disorder" compulsive disorganisation or something like that. it mad me LMAO! anywho I watched the episode with the cat lady with about 30 living cats in the house and another ten were dead in the basement, the garage and even in her bedroom she didn't even notice.then this one half blind kitty popped out of the pile of rubbish. The sight of the kitty skeltons was really hardcore.

  • @melbaby87 That wont work.. My parents are hoarders, and whenever they participate in anything, avon, ebay, anything involving the accepting of items, they then cannot then separate with the junk.. salvation army would just enable their collecting..

  • this show should be called idiots

  • she does have a good point about the canes,i lived on the streets for years and now i work and married with a daughter so not every homeless person you see is a drug addict or a bum who is lazy, not every body who is poor is bad or a criminal.

  • i think all the medication shes on for all those so-called ailmentsis whats really screwing with her head, psychy drugs just harm people more than help them, more people commit suicide on medication then off of it.

  • some people just have a hard time letting go. to them it's like letting go someone you love.

  • This show bugs me so bad. I don't understand why someone could see fit to keep the rings that come off of the lids of milk. Or paper clips from WWII... I get its a disease but when its costing you a place to live and isolation from friends and family, are those paperclips from WWII really worth it?

  • treatment = storage

  • Melody is really cute, and I totally agree with her about the canes.

  • Please go to chris chans house !

  • IT's good that Melanie admits to her own mistakes

  • I would take it all to several goodwills, recycling centers, auctioners and anything thing else that doesn't fit in those catigories, goes in the garbage.

  • The worst is when you hoard food because it goes bad and it probably smells SO bad that you'd vomit just after one whiff.

  • i bet they would have an awsome yard sale maybe 6 digit figures lol

  • Imagine the stink!

  • I have anti-hoarding tendencies. I like to get rid of things. I HATE clutter. Is that also something I need to see a shrink about? lol

  • Kind of looks like my place :O

  • if they have a dog i bet it goes inside to take a shit instead of outside.

  • i have a problem with depression and anxiety. not hoarding but i am really trying to change my inflictions because it is preventing me from getting ass. that severe "void" in my life is female ass especially because the guys all tease me about that. but when i defeat my inflictions i would like to get a girlfriend for my own piece of ass and i will be happy afterwards. i will be complete and all my voids filled up like a landfill.. .*sigh... just compulsed to get that off my chest, laters guys.

  • where does she sleep? my god.....

  • hoarders are great! they keep the economy going!

    (totally kidding)

  • it's easy not to say stop buying! well you can buy but also toss out (give to a women's shelter, etc) things you don't use in a year.

  • @DoUWanna007 a lot of the people suffer from depression. So when they win an ebay auction of 10,000 beanie babies they get that rush of happiness and euphoria which is gone within minutes, so they feed that feeling over and over and over again. the crap people collect is to fill severe voids within their lives, the voids are obviously severe when you can barely walk through the living room, or any room for that matter.

  • @girl123interrupted yes indeed. 1st thing to do is recognize what's going on.Then get some help if they can't stop themselves. Cut up the credit cards. Do not go to ebay anymore. Easier said than done. But it can be done. Substitue the activity for something else:walk, go to a park, talk to a buddy on the phone, but the feeling will pass, day after day:)

  • Hoarding is a symptom of serious illness.

  • Only Langley Collyer was crushed, his brother Homer died of starvation.

Can't they be truthful. Read the book, announcer!

  • I love to collect stuff animals. I hope i won't end up hoarding them.

  • This is an American phenomenon. American's with their bigger is better lifestyle. Bigger houses, bigger cars, bigger debt, bigger government, bigger debts, bigger waistlines, and bigger stuff. What a bunch of losers.

  • Hoarding goes back to Adam & Eve! I just saw this short video about Adam hoarding. so funny!!! type in "Eve and Adam rock."

  • If you keep your house too neat and tidy, then the cockroaches and other small scavenger insects will, out of desperation, crawl up your anus in your sleep in an attempt to find food.

The average person has 4 cockroaches climb up their rear this way every month.

Please, leave some crumbs for the cockroaches. For your own butt's sake.

  • wow i have the sudden urge to throw stuff away :p

  • I used to be a hoarder from the age of 10 to 18 years old, I just used to put random stuff in my pockets and put them in my droors, then one day when I was picking up something, I just told my self, this is crazy man, and from then on I just stopped. And that's just the thing these people need to start doing, identify of what they are doing, why they are doing it and see how they can fix it.

  • I feel so sorry for this woman.. she is living in her own filth and loving it.

  • I am a hoarder and i have cat shit all over my floor. Does anyone know who i can contact for help? Oh and also i have a whole bunch of rotten food under my bunk bed.

  • @ gunsforever1 take care of your animals and if you can't it's best to find another home for them. You might as well pull up the carpeting and thow it out. It's impossible to get the smell out and the cats will just return to the same spot and go to the bathroom. Get yourself some help you might be depressed.

  • Thanks man and i am starting to get rid of the stuff under my bed. Again thank you.

  • thats great all you have ot call is 1-800-FAKE-AND-GAY

  • gotta love the comments on youtube, it just shows us all that it is true that the global IQ is indeed decreasing.

so ehm... best of luck idiots.

  • melanie could be a billionaire if she just had a yard sale

  • Only 1337 people hoard.

  • If you don't hoard, you're not cool.

  • oh, hell no

  • they have a problem

  • I'm not at all a hoarder, but I do understand in a weird way. I'm on the severe end of ADHD and I know how out-of-control my life gets if I'm not pumped full of Vyvanse. I can't get shit done, can't pay bills, my work goes to shit etc, etc,,,

I always want to, just can't see it thru, or remember what I want to do or was going to do. If I'm not medicated, I got piles of crap all over the place.

  • "We all have more things than we need" SAYS WHO!!!!

  • @AtlantaITGirl Says I!!!

  • i don't understand people like this....it's like some kind of fricken disease throw ur shit out (you know you don't need it) and live like a human being for god sakes. I'm not a neat freak by any means i don't always make my bed and i leave some things here n there on my desk but i reach a limit every week and have to clean my room. And every year i do a spring cleaning and get rid of shit i don't need...clothes, school papers etc. for real i don't get this shit it's disgusting

  • Why on earth is the music all dopey and happy?

  • @LolaArmyBrat Low budget for the show I think.

  • @LolaArmyBrat it's like the short bus circus music.. happy and bubbly and dumb!!

  • And a half-assed troll at that. Gotta be one of the lamest attempts at flaming I've seen in ages.

  • @fiskefyren - actually most clutterers and hoarders have high to very high intelligence. That can be part of the issue as their brains are working so fast that it's more difficult to deal with mundane things.

Research shows that hoarding affects 2 - 3 % of the population anywhere in the world. Cluttering affects approximately 15%.

  • intelligence comes in many forms my dear friend and people being to dumb to see their own errors are not intelligent no matter what you say.

  • @fiskefyren It's actually not that they don't see their own errors. In fact that's part of the problem. Their negative emotions and self judgment is very high and "freezes" them from fixing the problem. The problem becomes emotionally overwhelming and it becomes easier to do things like stay away from home.

  • @fiskefyren Within the first 2 minutes, the hoarder was stated to have been diagnosed with OCD. Knowing this, how could you make such an ignorant comment? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

  • @fiskefyren i think she's not that bright in this case.

  • @fiskefyren Has nothing to do with intelligence.

  • @fiskefyren Judging from this paragraph you typed, I can tell you are not intelligent no matter what you say.

  • @fiskefyren: If you do a search for other hoarding videos you'll find a British guy who hoards his own feces. So there.

  • @fiskefyren: Anyone who stereotypes an entire nationality based on a very targeted variety TV show most likely has an IQ below 84!!!

  • madputz: sadly i've been tested with an iQ of 112 so lets move on shall we?

  • @fiskefyren Yeah, former President Bush also had an IQ of around 112, it has nothing to do with common sense.

  • @fiskefyren it's an american show dumbass

  • holy fire hazard...

  • I got to level 50 in horde

  • @330626 I lol'd.

  • @330626 LOL! FUNNAY!

  • @330626 lol! that made me spit my coke.

  • My aunt is a hoarder. I never visit her and haven't in ten years. All those stacks of newspapers and just tons of shit she's gotten from yard sales my god the sheer amount of dust and garbage...hoarders are all incredibly sick people.

  • @DannyGrowth does she save the toilet paper she wipes her ass with too?

  • I wouldn't say incredibly sick- of all the mental disorders- child molestors, Schizos. at least this is the maybe the only one, all of us could a part of us in, and a possiblity

  • she should have taken the canes to goodwill.

  • I resolve to stop hoarding. I am donating the bodies to science, to help humanity! And you know something??? I realize that I AM a GOOD PERSON!!!

  • I'm STRONGLY tempted to send this to someone. But the explanation is, his house is too small. He intends to use ALL of it, but it can't be utilized when it's packed to the rafters.

  • My in-laws are really really bad. They literally have paths going through their apartment to get to the bathroom, the couch, and their bed. They cant get to their kitchen there is so much stuff... the mother is a trash hoarder, and the father an "antiques" hoarder.

  • Lastly, I know for these people it's hard to let go of their stuff because they feel a need to fill an emptiness/loss. For Melody, it's too bad we can't convince them to have them donate their treasures to those that are in better need. It would ease their pain knowing it went to something good, but also tidy the clutter. Too bad they can't see that.

  • My mother has a slight hoarding problem. Last summer I convinced her that I would sell a lot of my stuff in a garage sale to raise $ to get her better furniture, but she would have to get rid of half the crap in the garage and basement. We raised about a grand and now she has great bedroom furniture. She has no regrets.

  • She makes a good point with the canes.

  • This is a mental disorder and there is a scale which establishes the degree a person hoards. It is called the NSGCD Clutter Hoarding Scale. It is the Official Organizational Assessment Tool. You can internet search this and also find it in pdf format.

  • GODDAM!

    LOL

  • years of therapy and medication haven't helped... so we decided to make a tv show about it. I'm a border line hoarder, i have piles that have started, cameras, purses, coats, shoes, clothes. Time to look at this!

I think most people need to open thrift shops.

  • these people have more problems than carter has little liver pills

  • No offence, but when i was young i used to keep loads of stuff... but than when i felt that the clutter is just to unbearable! and ppl who need stuff like this just dont have it... i start to clean up and learn to keep organized and give things away to ppl in need of this stuff.... till this day i still hate clutters! coz i just dont think keeping things till they rot and not giving to ppl who need it make any sense and its totally selfish!... amen!

  • I have been watching hoarders for sometime and have constantly heard "I want" or "I need" throughout all the episodes. While their conditions are repulsive and many have no concern that their families are living in health hazardous situations, i wonder if narcissism is not part of this disorder. I find that frequently they talk about what they need and a complete disregard for others.

  • If my tenants are like this, I would want them to leave too.

  • Some of you HAVE to be kidding!!! How hateful are you?! This is a mental illness!! I myself am not a hoarder nor know any, but this is crippling for these ppl. Hey, just keep spreading that "love".....I'm amazing at the lack of tolerance by so many ppl, still today.

  • @postagerequired -

good response. I do know hoarders, and most of them fall into what therapists give the acronym, "SICK": Sensitive, Intelligent, Caring, and Kind.

Most of them fall into this pattern after an incredibly painful loss, like the death of a loved one. They're literally holding onto memories. It takes a lot of effort and courage for them to work through it.

  • I keeo trying to spread the love, but if you are a family member of a hoarder, well, they are out of control. I am a 45 year old adult. My sister is 56 years old. She has torn our family apart. She has been hoarding since age 12. After 30 years of her unacceptable behavior, I just can't stand my sister's guts.

  • Your tax dollars at work-supporting this lady who supports the art of collecting and stashing items that serve no use to her. Makes you feel good when you look at your pay stub, your tax deductions at work. Just sad.

  • @alanlewis82 sadly agreed

  • She probably is paying for the counseling and such, apparently they have their own jobs ... if anything it is your TV channel dollars going to her via this highly targeted TV program.

  • Hoarders are selfish people. They don't know how to give even those things they don't use. And showing their messy stuff gives them fulfillment.
