  • "CONGRATULATION" to her "Birth Day" and presented to her with warm wishes and finest prayers. Khalid Asghar, former Controller/ Station Director, Radio Pakistan, Lahore (24-January 2012)

  • Wonderful lyric blended with amazing poetry. It makes my sensitive heart plunge with lovely tears of peaceful memories ....

  • simply...WOW!

  • very-nice

  • Rafu saab at his best

  • @niharchak100 WTF

  • great voice, great song. lot of thanks to rofi sahab

  • One thing is for sure, this really is the definition of romance, look at the serene beauty of Sadhana, see the style of her lover and the grief and painful request of Rafi's voice, it really is killing.

  • O God...this everlasting melody of my childhood when love used to be so pure and spiritual. This song pulls my heart.

  • very correct @nasghori...........

  • my darling first husband took me to this film.sadly he is no longer with me but every time i hear this beautiful song i am with my umarji

  • incredible .... very nice song

  • WTF

  • @lexstayunite humm

  • nice

  • kya hindi urdu nonsense. hindi aur urdu dono hamare hi desh ki hain. urdu ya hindi kisi ke baap ki jaagir nahi hain jo itna lad rahe ho ispar....haan nahi to

  • I can hear crickets and other insects in the audio but funny thing is I can't see any in the movie. What is that horrible sound?

  • @moally55 best comment. this is enhanced stereo effect that has actually spoiled the melody.

  • @kashmira1999 Yaar kusum.... muje to gana ne maarna tha,, ye munhoos 'jhunkaar' ne maar diya! tc Yaar!

  • @kashmira1999 sir kya aap mohd aaly ho ????

  • ah what poetry, what music and what rendering - by these three geniuses - Shakheel - Naushad-Rafi. it's just too beautiful ..words cannot describe the emotion one feels at listening to this song.

  • when i smoke weed and listning to this song,,,it makes me to think about what i have done in ma life and to those who love me

  • With weakness I meant, a word can be read correctly only when you already know it like you can't distinguish between "Saroor" and "Sarwar" "Peer" and "Pair" one can't understand whether it is "Us Waqt" or "Asooqat" there are many like this, I know Urdu [reading and writing]. You can't write 'Krishn' you'll have to write 'Karshan'. This is the weakness of the script.

  • This is what u call real indian music and culture.not that crap they making now and calling indian movies.I always luv old indian movies. And of course one and only "RAFI SAHAB"!!!

  • Urdu has developed in the Deccan part of India. Kuli Qutub Shah was the first Urdu poet. The script of course has weakness but the language is rich and beautiful.

  • @raajkusharma57 what weakness? In fact I would think that cuneiform has weaknesses but letter based scripts are more flexible

  • BEST MOVIE.I LOVE THIS.I CAN WATCH THIS AND NEVER GET BORED.SADHNA AND RAJENDRA.WHAT A PAIR

  • In fact that part of the land had the most ancient history of the region.Mohun-Jo-Daro or the Indus Valley Civilisation, was one of the oldest and who can forget the Taxila [Taksh-Shila..in fact originated from the word Yaksh -Shila [Rock] ].Its sad that people in that part are not well connected with their own history.

  • I hope that the uploader is not under any delusion that he got almost 700K view because of the remix. Most people click on this video hoping to find the original, they listen for about 1 minute and get disgusted and move to another version. Disgusting 'light remix'.

  • One of Rafi;s ji best songs....thanks a lot for uloading this one ..nice one :)

  • Thanks Gurkha bhai.

  • Memories.....

  • Classic, wow ........awesome........like it much

  • SAME HALL FROM AMAR AKBAR AND ANTHONY WHERE RISHI SINGS HIS QAWALLI

  • what a heart touching romantic song full of love & pain. superb composition.

  • I dedicate this song to Arooj Sahib, who is a REAL listener of Rafi Sahib. Arooj Sahib is the most sophisticated personality in music. May Almighty Allah bless him. Khalid Asghar, former Controller/ Station Director, Radio Pakistan, Lahore & Muisc Analyst. (23 A pril 2011)

  • kia baat ha alllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • @xpakistani1, what is this massive chip on ur shoulder ... "Urdu is ... 10% this ... , and 20% that ...", just enjoy the beautiful words, music, singing and picturisation, and the great performances of Rajinder Kumar and Sadhana, that further enhance the emotional impact ! Petty, Petty, Petty ! but all so very typical .... !

  • By God .......... jisne bhi is gaane ke alfaas likhe hain usne zarur kisi ki judaai ka dard jhela hoga ....... itna dard hai is gaane me aur rafi sahab ki awaaz me ki ruh kaanp jaata hai sun kar

  • This is one of the best song sung by Rafi but please this is not the original song its remixed by adding drum beats

  • Sahir Ludhianvi rocks! phir mujhe nargisi aankhon ka sahara de de.

  • @aryanv This lyrics is written by Shakeel Badyuni saheb, not Sahir ji...

  • One of the best song in Indian classics!

  • U also have to accept that Urdu contains 30% words from Arabic, 30% from Persian, 30% from Turkish and just 10% from Sanskrit.

  • Amazing song!!

  • A melodious song by Rafi sir.. I like very much....Music has no Religion...Language....

  • Urdu vocabulary developed under Persian Arabic n Turkic influence over the course of almost 900 years The original language of Mughals was Chagatai a Turkic language but after their arrival in South Asia thy came 2 adopt Persian thy need 2 communicate with local led 2 a composition of Sanskrit-derived languages written in Perso-Arabic script n with literary conventions n specialised vocabulary being retained 4 Persian Arabic n Turkic the new standard was eventually given its own name of Urdu

  • @rukhaiya Sorry sir, the name of the language is Reekhta. Urdu, in Turkish, means Army."Reekhta ke tumhee ustad naheen ho Ghalib, Sunte hain agley zamaney mein koi Meer bhi tha" Present continuous tense is found in Urdu / Hindi and English. No other language has it. Suffixes 'ing' and 'raha' are unique. The ability of these two languages to swallow words of other languages is stupendous making them richer by day. Both are easy to learn yet need a lifetime to master...

  • @amoralis123 ,,,,you are right,sir,,salam arz,,,,,,,,,from ( Riyadh)

  • @rukhaiya ,,also you are Right,,,,,,,,,,Salam Arz,,,,(from Riyadh)

  • Burkha, Purdah, Urdu, Shairi, Aligar University, Bearded maulanas and Rafi saab.....An outstanding dazzling display of our great Indo-Islamic cultural richness. Who cares the song is in Urdu or Hindi? Its an Indian song, thats all!!!

  • @ashiquebd exactly, well said.... "bearded maulanas" lol... true true

  • superb song

  • RE

    WALLAH

    KYA BAAT HAI TERI MOTI

CHAL FROM ME THANK YOU HAI JI

    HARE KRSNA

  • Urdu derives from the Mongol-Turki root Ordu (Horde in English). The grammar is Hindi and the vocabulary is derived from Farski speaking Turkmen, Arabic, Truki, Pahtun and Dari. In the Hyderabad (Deccan) dialect Telugu, Marathi and possibly Kannada words have been added. It is called Hindi when written in the Devnagari script and Urdu when written in the Arabic script. There has been an attempt to make the language more sanscrit in India and more farsi in Pakistan.

  • Urdu literally means "army camp" It was the language spoken in the army camps of the invading Muslim emperors. Since these armies consisted of people recruited along the way, the language consisted of words from Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Hebrew and once they arrived in Bharat, local hindi words (derived from Sanskrit) got added to it. This is the urdu language that we know of today.

This is just from the perspective of vocabulary.

  • Hindi or Urdu...Indian or Pakistani...Muslim or Hindu...I DO NOT CARE!!! What i care is that i like this!

    thats funny.. hahahaha!!!

  • athercanada

Urdu or any language is only a means of communication. There is richness in every language. It all depends how words are used ,

in what forms. Language has no religion or rightful possession. For humanity sake, cherish the nectar and essence of a poetry, ghazal or play in any language without prejudice .God bless you .God bless Indian talents.

  • Urdu's really origin is Lakhnow (India) but its has a great History and great Poets, Now see your Hindi almost drive many words taken from Urdu, Real Hindi difficult to understand to any one, due to many Indian Movies in Urdu Hindi in the future will almost finished, and its fact

  • I am a muslim and done my research on urdu. it is a language derived from sanskrit and adopt by muslim who were in India before and now it has become a pakistan dialect. we need to accept the truth. denial is just like not accepting the truth and it is against the muslim faith

  • Comment removed

  • My Dear, See History again, Urdu word is taken from Turkish Language which means (Force - Lashkar) means combination of different Languages, Urdu is a fact, First Urdu book was published in year 1200 its based on Arabic Rasm-u-Khat , u should know that Urdu is a Second Biggest Language in the world see its Grammar, if u want to take the pride that Urdu is yours then why u people avoid to make it your National Language, Before British Govt. in Sub. Persian was Govt. Lang.

  • @19davebu i dont want to get into some massive debate, i do have a social life. bt i just wanted to express one point. i speak urdu my family speaks it and ther is lots of arabic words, persion words but i cant seem to see much sanscrit in the language. peace out.

  • If this is hindi as you researched, then, why the hindi today is not like this song sounds.Urdu is not like hindi that one would mix them. The truth has to be accepted my dear by those who want to adopt Urdu but don't have the courage to call it Urdu. They want to name it hindi like yourself. Urdu has 70% Arabic, 20% persian and rest other languages. Hindi has nothing to do with Arabic and persian. Are you muslim? you don't need to tell that.

  • @nasghori

I find your comment amusing as I speak Urdu. Urdu is most closely associated to Hindi and then Persian and then with arabic, turkish etc. The simple gauge of that is that an urdu speaking person can understand hindi very easily and vice versa. Same cannot be said for arabic or persian or turkish etc. Also it has nothing to do with religion. Linguistics are associated with culture and region not any religion.

  • @sabsdv

Very well said. Urdu has also been described by some historians as the camp language of the Farsi speaking minority of Turko / Mughal rulers of Hidustan who needed to communicate with and relate to the majority of local population and vice versa. I am so pleased with your clear thinking about not mixing up culture with religion.

  • @listeningforpleasure

Thank you...I find its essential to keep the boundaries clear between religion and culture as its very easy to get them muddled and confused and then truth gets lost somewhere.

  • @19davebu most of the urdu words matches with arabic and persian not sanskrit. How can u say it derived from sanskrit? It emerged mainly in lucknow.

  • @kuwaitiiraqi123 mm..even now in modern times urdu is cassified as one of the west hindi anguages..It'll be much better to say that urdu got derived from hindi rather than sanskrit....

  • @19davebu U also have to accept that Urdu contains 30% words from Arabic, 30% from Persian, 30% from Turkish and just 10% from Sanskrit.

  • @19davebu where did u do ur research, perhaps sitting in some temple! Even Hindi has only some vocabulary of Sanskrit and its basic structure is completely derived from Urdu. As Muslims we believe that No nation is superior because of its race, language etc. Even if Urdu was derived from Sanskrit, it was not a problem. But u r just twisting facts. Urdu a Turkish work which means "toops". And it got developed from among Muslim armies which had Turkish, Persian and Arabic speaking soldiers.

  • @19davebu Tell me one word of Urdu that has been derived from Sanskrit....... !!! Urdu is a language that has derived from Arabic, Farsi and Turkish...... Your research is biased....!!!

  • @waqar2211 Ko, tum, aap, main, ka, ke, ki, mein, tujhe, mujhe. What a stupid argument.

  • @19davebu

In fact that part of the land had the most ancient history of the region.Mohun-Jo-Daro or the Indus Valley Civilisation, was one of the oldest and who can forget the Taxila [Taksh-Shila..in fact originated from the word Yaksh -Shila [Rock] ].Its sad that people in that part are not well connected with their own history.

  • Urdu is stricly muslim, its origins are muslim and nothing to do with even the sub-continent..urdu is truly unique..as for hind, their language was Sanskrit,

  • MESSAGE for the educated and intelligent part of the Hindu Population (not the profanity users): PLEASE read the "sachar report" by Statisticians- Your country is ABUSING Muslims in India when applying for Higher Jobs, Education and development. That is DISCRIMINATION based on RELIGION. It is like "communism" & for such ppl "citizenship" in USA was DENIED.. (yes, I know we have racists too..but They know it is NOT allowed openly..at least..)

100 + MILLION Muslims in India ABUSED?

  • Why don't you question Islam for discriminating against non-muslims?

About how Quran asks muslims to treat DHIMMIS? why they have to Jaziya? Do you have courage to ask for minority rights in Islamic countries? Why in most Islamic countries almost impossible to convert to another religion as apostates should be killed as per Islam.

  • @isarvesh you seem mis-informed..please brother, reply to me and be clear..i hope you're not confusing passeg of the time of the messenger and newer times..id be happy to answer within my knowledge of islam..thanks.

  • @isarvesh dude nonmuslim pay jizya but no zakat as the muslims do! so it evens out!

  • the song is soul of the film Mere mahboob,,i saw ithis flim in 63 when i was class 8th but i can still remember the song n visual ,,

  • mesmerising song....

  • @zoxo100 AM AGREE WITH YOU 100%

but plz dont limit Urdu only with muslim or islam,.

  • Whatabout Pakistan?

  • what about india?

  • I meant in the context of what zoxo said...he wants Muglistan...so what the fuck would happen to pakistan

  • @"zoxo100" I wondered why your comment removed by SEVEN ppl & thought may be "profanity" which is very COMMON from many non-muslim Indians comments. But there was none. I heard about Aligargh. And now in 2008 read "Sachar Report" wher IGNORANT and BIASED Hindus "abuse" Muslims b/c Of Moron Bush from USA said that Muslims are "terrorist" when it was the CIA which "demolished" the Twin Towers to ATTACK Iraq to STEAL the Muslims Oil.. So Hindu India is profiteering w/ the Devil Worshipping Masonry.

  • Thats not true!

  • HAH! you are so misinformed.

  • fantastic song

  • One of the best songs of Rafi Sahib. Master piece as it has emotions that adds value to the song to the already great voice quality which Rafi Sahib already had. Two other great things are ofcourse the beautiful poetry/Lyrics and the music it self. Great Song in all respects!!

  • great singer,great song.

  • great romantic songrafi saabka aawaz is so soothing mesmerising and awesome

  • Have always loved the song and the lyrics. Found Rajendra Kumar yucky when I saw the movie yrs ago and find him yucky now. Always wonder what the appeal of his acting/looks is. Same for Sadhana. They're all so phony (so not natural - contrived - in their acting).

Thanks for posting. I only listen to the audio though as the video spoils is for me. :)

  • Don't know how to express the beauty of this song in words. The song is really mesmerizing, the melody, the music, the actors and most importantly the lyrics is so perfect. Hats off to every involved in the making.

  • Greak composition, great voice of Rafi and great acting by Rajendra Kumar. SImply superb !!

  • This classic is one of the best! Absolutely beautiful, lyrics, music & of course, Mohd Rafi's legendary voice. I could listen to this all day. Sadhana looks amazing!

  • I think you mean that the young Benazir resembled her. Although I am not sure of that, Sadhana was way hotter in my opinion.

  • @gurkhaboy

I totally agree. What a Sindh beauty.

  • @gurkhaboy She may resemble with another and then another, as we can think and visualise. Please take care.
