Launchpad Tutorial: Part 2 — Session Mode (English)

So I picked launch pad up 2 days ago.. This is literally the most user un-friendly device I've ever tried to work with. I was able to get it set up when I got it, and now nothing works. The pads won't even light up. Do you guys hate me or something?

I hooked up the launch pad with ableton live version 8 and it shows the lights lighting up and turning green and even on the program it shows the volume of the track. But I can hear NO sound whatsoever. Any help?

Is the launchpad compatible with other softwares? like Logic express?

@drumtillever24 The Launchpad sends typical MIDI information but will not work in the same way as it does with Ableton Live. You will be able to trigger Plugin Instruments with the Launchpad and it can map to Logic's MIDI Learn mode.

64 x 64=4096 buttons, what a wonderful tool. I mean in the studio I can mess around until I get the perfect organization or just play out sounds and see if I like the combonation.

Not to mention the limitless things you could live! Imagine having two of these, or even 4-6!

I have to get me one, I can't wait!

Does it have any speakers on the device itself?And can you plug the usb into a wall adapter and play?Please reply.

@Electromized The Launchpad is a MIDI controller essentially, which does not have in built speakers. Best results are only gained by plugging the Launchpad into your computer's USB port without using a USB hub.

@NovationTV I am thinking of buying it but I just wanted to start making tunes, starting of with this as a begginer and was wondering whether Ableton Launchpad edition software had free samples and clips. Lastly, is it possible to select my on songs to be played on the pad grids? Thanks!

This is probably a dumb question but i got a new version of live and when i am using my launchpad now and i trigger a clip, for some reason it isn't looping the clips like it used to, they just play once and then stop. how do i get it to loop the clips again?

@AUDlOSYNCRASY Click on the clip and select 'Loop' if you would like the clip to repeat.

Okay, just bought this. Is there a way to stop/start clips just by touch? 'cause once mine starts playing it just keeps playing.

@NovationTV Thanks a bunch, it worked beautifully. Now...I have a bigger problem. The lights on my Pad are getting stuck. I go from Session, U1 or U2 to the mixer, and when I press any other button, like Vol, or back to Session, the buttons are stuck and nothing works on the pad! Not even the mixer which I originally selected works!

Help me out, please!

What Session Mode means on the Launchpad.

@homelessballoon Session mode is the view in Abelton Live that displays your audio clips in a grid. The grid on the launchpad directly reflects the clips that can be seen in Ableton Live and can be used for triggering the clips or scenes (row of clips).
