  • It´s Glen Alvelais on lead guitar???? EPIC SHRED!!!

  • i'd say with rigor mortis they're one of the most underrated thrash metal bands.i've seen them last year in bochum at metropole ruhr festival with accu§er,desaster and some other bands.forbidden headlined this day and it was really sad, because they gave one of the most awesome thrashing shows i've ever seen and there weren't more than 50-70 people, while there were 4times more people when desaster played..and most disappointing was that the ruhrpott is thebirthplace of bands like sodom or kreator

  • Great...Forbidden Gods of Thrash Metal...Forbidden Rules!

  • Sweet. I remember waiting for their first album to come into the local Our Price... Had to special order it... Those were the days..

  • OMFG i can only imagine the pain in his hands shredding sooo fucking hard!

  • gotta love the 90's video effects @ 0:30

  • This brings back memories BIG time! I saw this show when it passed through Detroit in 1989. They opened for Death Angel and blew them away! We left before Death Angel came on for their encore and we talked to Paul Bostaph who was in front of the hall. They shredded!!!

  • Yeah the vocals are awesome. But credit the epic shreddage, i feel sorry for the guitarists have no rest from such epic strumming

  • lets go kill some posers!

  • It's better than the studio version!

  • My ears are bleeding and it feels great!

  • Man I would give anything to be able to go see a thrash metal gig back in like '86 or whatever but I just had to be born in 1995 so that isn't going to happen. :(

  • @thrashwontdie This. We were born to late =/ Watching this video makes me feel nostalgic for a time that I never lived in, if that makes any sense.

  • God, I'd kill for a chance to see that tour!

  • russ is the fuckin man..ull never get to hear someone tht sounds like tht ever again!

  • Great days.

What an amazing voice he had.

  • This was in October 1988, not 1989....This is part of video home "The Ultimate Revenge 2"

  • @crionics61 - Yup 1988, I believe it was the Combat II tour.

  • Enjoy Coca-Cola?

  • REALMENTE-IMPRESIONANTEMENTE-SUPER-MEGA-EXTREMADAMENTE-IMPOSIBLEMENTE-DANTESCAMENTE-EXPLOSIVAMENTE-BRUTALMENTE-VERDADERAMENTE (¿COMO Y CON QUE PALABRAS EXPRESARLO?) LO BUENA QUE ESTA ESTA CANCION.

  • I mean todays metalcore bands....

  • Today's metal can't be even a shit to this..... Trust me if they do the time travel to 1988 and play live with this band.... They would be perished in one nanosecond as this band plays live.

  • Best Forbidden song ever. Alvelais rules....

  • wasn't this the ultimate revenge 2? a friend of mine had this video.I think the guitarist with the shorter hair left the band by Twisted into Form and the drummer later joined Slayer

  • wasn't this the ultimate revenge 2? a friend of mine had this video.

  • @GabrielC38 This is "Ultimate Revenge 2" first one was with Slayer Exodus and Venom, This had version had Forbidden Death and Dark Angel

  • 4 people seems that they look through eyes of glass

  • this solo is siiiiiiick \m/

  • even in the nursing home, i'll be slam danceing with the other old fogges!! to this classic thrash metal song!

  • Band falls apart at 2:03 and reconvenes at 2:23. Equipment fails at 2:41 and band survives all this with the best live metal riffs and solos ever beginning at 3:02! Forbidden, the unsung heroes of all thrash metal \m/!!!!!!

  • @jlongu Yeah maybe the monitors were a little weak they went off time but saved it. These guys are legends,Way bettr.than metallica when they were young, but now they are very out of shape ;-(

  • he has such a distinct voice. its awesome. i would never suspect to come from him either idk why.

  • This song is fucking sick!!! When they played it live was the best damn moment of the show!

  • @tylr322 Russ anderson rules

  • @karter005 Russ is still good..

  • \FORBIDDEN/

  • damnn they were just flyyyyin at this show fuckin amazing... amazing era for metal. orgasmic.

  • @hesher8 yeah eargasmic ;)

  • this is what real 80's bay area thrash was all about. anyone who's ever melted the old glass can relate with the lyrics too. mysterious, scary and intense, just like the song.

  • La cago esta wea.

  • E ANDIAMO!

  • OOOooooo el loco es demasiado groso ctm el medio solo....Uno de los mejores solos que he escuchado en este tipo de Bandas, el Solo es super claro y limpio...This is Really Thrash Metal¡¡¡¡

  • great times it seems yesterday underrated band

  • This video may be the most metal thing on the internet...

  • UN-FUCKING-REAL!

this song is way too good.

  • Yeah, you'll never beat the 80's / early 90's.New Forbidden tunes are sounding promising, better then i thought they would!

  • I have to admit, I feel really honored to have been 18 in '89. It really was a great time. The Berlin Wall falls, the culture, the bands. Vio-Lence, Forbidden, Slayer, Megadeth, Voivod, Sanctuary, and the list goes on and on. What a great time period.

  • there will NEVER!! be another FORBIDDEN!!....LONG LIVE OLD SCHOOL METAL!!

  • 3:15

  • 3:18 that part gets crazy

  • glen alvelais solo is so fucking awesome in this song.I have this on vhs.faith or fear, forbidden, death, dark angel and ravem

  • I have the VHS of this show transferred to DVD.

AND I was at this show! I was 25 back in 89' and let me tell you, hearing this song live was awesome.

Forbidden is one of the truly underrated bands of the genre.Glen's solo is just unbelievable-this video captures the raw energy really well, but hearing it LIVE...no comparison.

I miss these days..And seeing Death, and NWOBHM legends Raven in action was a real plus. Raven have a new album out too, it's called "Walk Through Fire."

  • Hey! I was here, too! Pre-Tim days.

I look at this now, and it looks pretty darn pale.

    Tim's a pilot now, BTW...

  • I also got to see Forbidden at Airport Music Hall in Allentown PA in 1990. They opened for Death Angel, with War And Peace being the middle act.

Even cooler? I met 3 of the guys from Death Angel as they walked around the crowd just talking with people. I met Andy Galeon, Gus Pepa and Mark Osegueda.

Andy was right next to me as Forbidden were setting up before the show and I didn't know it until I turned to one side. Then we started talking. Great time!

  • We almost lost Andy in the bus accident shortly after this.

At the end of this tour, Dirk Sommers, the DA manager, dumped bags of flour into the fans at the end of the last set. We worked flour-water paste out of their hair for a week, especially Matt and Paul.

    Old days, good times.

  • Bags of flour?!? What was THAT for?

  • General fuckery. That was Dirk, lol.

  • P.S. - I didn't mean fans as it audience, but FANS, as in the big onstage blowers behind the stacks.

    Hell of a mess.

  • One of the best and underrated bands of thrash history.I love this song :)

  • Bostaph with ebony pinstripes- proper eighties, proper thrash!

  • Metallica is sellout band

  • it is a little untight but i really like the enagy

  • the trocadaro best place to see a show, this show was killer DEATH was fucking awsome

  • FORBIDDEN - monster band and legend of thrash :)

  • Bostaph is killin 'em!

  • Eric was one of the best singers those days

  • this is awesome!

  • glen alvelais rules!!!!!!!!

  • Oooooh damn, what a fucking good voice !

Like on the album :D even better

  • Too bad he doesn't sing nearly as good nowadays ;(

  • @Asqarath 20+ years of singing this type music will take it's toll but he still sings great .

  • @Asqarath but you know what, he can still put on a great show, and he tries very hard and that's all that matters

  • @Asqarath dude shut daa fuck up he sings great i saw them last december.

  • this is way faster then on the actual record and I LIKE IT!

  • RULES!!!!!!!!

  • This is fucking classic !!!!!!! \../

  • oh yeah.

mr. andersons' voice is like unto those

    of mssrs. diO and dickinsON.

extra freakin' tight guitar and rythm

    section work.i'd do them.

  • i have this song on ultimate revenge 2

  • solo Yngwie influenced

  • one of the best thrash guitar acts about, great riffs

  • 2:05 russ lost timing for a bit!!

  • it kinda sounds like it was Paul Bostaph who got kinda lost there

this is still a fuckin' classic

  • Comment removed

  • forget it, russ is it!

    but anyway, its a classic!

  • of course it is!

even that little error sounds cool... some of today's bands would probably feature pre-recorded vocals, triggered double bass parts... not to mention, Forbidden could give any modern metrosexual "metal" jock band a good kick in the ass

  • so fuckin great!@

wish they cud play like this now

  • Just watched some Dark Angel... this drummer is no Hoglan but WOW, I can tell what the guitarists in Forbidden are playing! Dark Angel sounds like a mess.

  • Foribdden are waay better than Dark Angel

  • not fair to compare

Dark Angel were thrash metal bordering on Death Metal... speed and heaviness

Forbidden were more speed metal influenced, and hence, speed was not really at the forefront, like Dark Angel...

You know, you cant really compare

anyway, Bostaph and Hoglan do share something in common, as drummers; both worked with Slayer, one as a tech (Gene) and one as official drummer (Paul)

  • I like Speed/Thrash more

  • yeah, me too so why

TitusIsaacMaximus describe only DA as a speed orientated when Forbidden is really so fast playing band?

  • pure technnical thrash!

  • not at all,but this is thrash at its finest

  • Awesome Thrash

  • these dumbasses in the crowd are just standing there i would have gone crazy stage diving even if i had seen them a bunch of times if you aint gonna go crazy at a show dont go stagediving and pitting are what put tht icing on the cake at shows

  • good attitude dude!

  • Yes, you would...

  • Yea dude, you are right. I think the same when watching the DVD. Just some of them are banging and moshing, there are also some pozers, I mean glam rockers who dont really understand thrash.

I just get crazy every time I hear them:D

  • Thats was what I loved about thrash gigs, the pit and stage diving!!!!!! Ya gotta go mental at a gig!

  • I fucking love that solo, Glen is an awesome shredder! Kick ass song...and the line-up with Death and Dark Angel, Daaamn! When are they going to invent a time machine!?

  • Zag ze op graspop voor de eerste maal, heb staan headbangen van begin tot einde, het is een schande voor mezelf dat ik ze niet in mijn jeugdjaren kende!!!!!!Vind ik trouwens hun beste nummer

  • one of my favorite vocals!

  • sounds great for a live performance!

  • at 2:05 russ is wrong i think. he sang too late. at 3:12 he is in again.

    :)

  • you´re right, but hes back at 2:27

    really intense performance though!

haha, the hightops the guitarplayer with the white strat in the middle wears at 0:36 are the same i have too! killer :D

  • Drum risers made out of Marshall 4x12s look fucking awesome. We seriously need to see that look again!

  • I was lucky enough to see these guys on tour in 1989 with testament and death angel, metal shows were the bomb in those days!! I'm 40 yrs young now and still a thrasher!

  • thrash till DEATH!

  • wow, this is...THRASH!

  • Death, Dark Angel and Forbidden on the same tour? Holy shit, that must've been awesome.

  • Yeah, I would of creamed myself. But I was only 1 years old then :(

  • Haha, I wasn't even born.

  • Does anybody know what kind of guitar Craig is using?

  • Aha wtf, a guy shredding up a Strat in a thrash band? That's fucking awesome. This rules.

  • underrated! ForbiddeN rule! Great voice btw

  • vio-lence,forbidden best bay thrash

  • best fucking song ever? possibly.

  • My friend bought this CD in the late 80's by chance and I have to say it was one of the best 80's thrash band around.

  • All hail Glen Alvelais!!!One of the best shredders ever,& way ahead of his time. Somebody call Guitar World and give these guys some Fuckin credit already.Forbidden= Bay Area Thrash gods!!!!

  • is glen the one that takes the solo???

  • Yes, Glen does the solo and Craig is on Rhythm

  • I used to go see them all the time when I lived in the Bay Area, late 80's early 90's. The Bay Area Thrash scene was hot with Forbidden. Such an awesome band, as good as it gets.

  • old school thrash metal yeah !

  • WHAT A FUCKING LINEUP!

"Live set in Philadelphia, Trocadero from 1989 tour with Death and Dark Angel "

  • such an awesome song

  • They rock! Forbidden forever!

  • FORBIDDEN RULES!!!!!!

  • This is top notch musicianship and the singer(that's right) singer blows away American Idol.

  • one of my favorite forbidden songs of all time as well as one of my favorite guitar solos ever. unbelievable song and band !!

  • ...on tour with Death and Dark Angel... Fuuuuck! Where is my time machine? I'd do anything to go back to that,

  • The BEST Bay area band of them all!! Hands Down!!

  • Singer is fucking amazing, why nobody praise him?

  • Yeahh!!

    Those were the days.

    Bay Area Thrash!!!

  • Great 80s thrash band!

  • Hey, the lead guitarist is playing a Kramer Baretta! Sweet ass band.

  • hmmmm, despite the not so great sound quality, this sounds pretty good. wish I could see them live.
