In Europe, this mentallity has nearly destroyed everything else, it is in the process of collapsing entirely. Nopes. It was not until 1930 that Turkey requested that Istanbul be the sole name/reference to the former Constantinople. Hence any period with a caliphate being situated there would refer to the city as Constantinople.
