subjectively you would say that the sennheiser wins.....
however we don't know what volume was used from the cab into the mike,
the SM57 needs a decent level going in to make it come alive so to speak,
it's very easy to make an SM57 sound weedy if you just have bedroom levels going in, that's what this sounds like to me?
are you 100% sure its a genuine Sure mic? because there are more fakes than real SM57s out there, yours has that boxy comb filtered sound that the fakes have?
@watchtheskies : Yes it's an original SM57 for this videos, i've got some copy, but for this video it wa the original ;).
Of course the level is very low for this video, cause i was at home !! Now i've got a isolation cabinet box and i can increase the volume ;) I use 2 SM57 for all my records, and i'm very happy !
@watchtheskies : yes, home made with MDF 18mm. it's perfect to use some head without master volume lol !! But for the moment i use a Blackheart Handsome devil and my Marshall VintageModern but i'm very interresting by the 2061x Handwired ;)
they both have their advantages and disadvantages - the main point being you have both thats awesome man. knowing each mic's strengths and weaknesses and using the right one at the right time or both.
In my opinion, I like sm57 sound more for rythm because it crunch and rock, but for solo I like palmer because it's more clear. Thanks for your good review. It's useful for me.
I own all of these mics.. Palmer sounds best on MELLOW!!

@nanostudio, hey thanks for the quick reply, regarding your ISO box, did you build it yourself?

@nanostudio
sounds like a great setup, nothing substitutes the sound of a speaker working hard does it! :)

Can you run an Amp head straight to this without a speaker cab; and not damage the amp?

@29396 :no this is not a load box ! just a line out with 4x12 simulation. But it exist the palmer PDI 03 ! It's more expensive. :))))
