i got the fatman and found a mini nuke in a vault and another in quarry junction in the back. for the people that want the fatman, it really sucks when you don't have the explosives skill level required for maximum power. and the level is 100. it doesn't kill a deathclaw in one shot not even a regular one it does do a good job of taking out groups of enemies but annabelle is still better for it. so annabelle in my opinion.

I found out just how dangerous Quarry Junction is the hard way... I way only about 50 minutes into the game when a guy told me to stay away from the place, and of course then i had to check it out! I got cured of that urge pretty guickly when i couldn't even damage the deathclaws with my best weapon, and it then commenced to kill me in two hits! Sometimes, you HAVE to listen to people...

i remember when i found a super mutant with a fatman near the black mountain radio station. i went to settle a score with a deathclaw because i had the weaponry to do so. instead, i did part of the black mountain radio quest and got annabelle. everything went better than expected. oh and i didn't get the fatman off that dud because i already had one

im sure i was not the only one who had a hard time finding a gatling laser without dlc of coarse its most certainly powerful enough with a dps of nearly 500 with high energy skill and was hard to find as well without siding with BOS why wasnt this on here if u dont mind me asking

During the Quest with Quarry Junction and Red at the Thorn, I was level 9, had no good weapons, and snuck past all of the deathclaws! I alerted them a few times, but I was high up on the giant rock machine and I managed to kill a few. I got the Fatman, and DeathClaw eggs without even being touched by a DeathClaw!

There is only one weapon that compares to the fat man and thats the holy frag grenade. if you shoot a fat man nuke at the legendary deathclaw it wont die but the holy frag grenade will kill with one explosion of it

Since when was Thump-Thump a Big Gun? It's a two handed grenade rifle that you carry like any ordinary two handed firearm (i.e. This Machine, Service Rifle).

I have a question.

There appears to be a glitch when it comes to killing Deathclaws with the Grenade Machinegun (both the standard model and "Mercy") in which the Deathclaw takes no damage at all.

I've successfully used the normal version against them, but now it doesn't work at all. Even 'Mercy' can't hurt them. My other weapons work on them, even without AP rounds. Know anything about this?

@Aryck1095 odd, my mercy slaughters them. But, i have 100 expl. 10 str x3 demo perk, rapid fire perk and other +dmg perks so my mercy does almost 190 dmg a grenade, which overrides their DT and makes a nice dent in their health. If you're skills are not up to par, you may have a mercy that does like 60-70 dmg (45-55 dmg after DT) on a deathclaw with 500 or more health. and thats on direct hits. so no wonder if you can't kill them well.

@behemuth Actually, Mercy does more than enough damage to bypass the Deathclaws DT rating regardless of the player's skill.

No, the problem seems to occur ONLY after bypassing Level 30, which is the base games level cap. Once I installed a DLC and managed to got to level 31, it stopped working against them. Up until level 30, it works perfectly against them. I use the standard Grenade MG all the time in Quarry Junction during "Bleed Me Dry", which I usually do before I hit 30.

@Aryck1095 i never said it didnt... i said that if mercy only does like 40 dmg to a deathclaw with a firerate of 3.7, then no wonder its inefficient. any damage less than 1/5 of the targets HP is not deducted well from the hp bar on screen.

the standard gerenade machinegun does roughly half the damage per shot of mercy though, it is a much worse option to use against high HP targets.

At any rate, unless there are multiple deathclaws charging you, you're better of using 50cal expl. or avenger
