  • get back to the model a yet

  • why not do a fix me up video on the model a tractor PLEASE.

  • какойто любитель старья

  • It's a shot in the dark, but maybe if you'd fix the exhaust pipe the tractor wouldn't suck up all the CO2 instead of the O2?

  • pull start?????

  • Wouldnt it be easier to pull start it. That wore me out and I wasnt even there.

  • @norfolkdash9 to stop too much pressure building up in the engine

  • Be nice to see this old classic restored! Nothing beats the sound of the old Johnny Popper!

  • That would be a bitch if you think its not starting.. and go to grab the flywheel like you did there and it fired right as soon as you touch it and get yourself hurt!

  • @TheTractorguy140

    What are they for?

  • Sounds darn good after standing so long!

I have to say.......you sure are a good natured fella........ ;)

  • bp blaster or kerosene will lossen the brakes

  • IT'S 1/17/2011 that's still a beautiful old work horse.

I wish you were still vlogging regularly.

  • Nice

  • sounds pretty good for its condition. my ol 36" a used to backfire louder then hell cause' of a faulty intake gasket

  • that things like my old sportster

  • why don't you use it?

  • i hope you will get it free and take it for a spin love old tractor :) we like

  • Brings back some serious memories, both good and bad. These things were miserable to start when it was cold or when they were hot from use. But at least one does not have to worry about the crank kicking back and hitting you.

  • Cool Video! Thanks!!

  • hey man looks like hard work haha! maybe you should try pulling it ya know to get things moving in there

  • Good video. I grew up hand cranking either our A or our B since the B - a more modern piece of equipment - hand a none working electric start that my dad refused to fix since he had able bodied sons to start the equipment. Who needed electric starters?

Almost be worth the hand cranking to hear that engine though - nothing like it.

  • @Iowahand Ha! Sounds just like my Grandpa. His 41 A had a non working starter. What did he do? Removed it. My cousin has his work cut out for him trying to find all the pieces again. Makes me happy I got the 41 B without electric start!

  • We still like it! :-)

  • No better sound than that of a 2 cyl Deere running or under load.

  • what i ment was my back felt it

  • lol i got tired just watching you spin that over and over

  • is the model A going to come back by popular demand for 2010?

  • you can bank on it

  • awsome! i hope you have more success in getting it mobile again! it should make a pretty nice toy!

did you ever get the grader unstuck?

  • havent gotten back to that yet, but I plan to do an update on both soon I get alot of questions about them

  • well no rush work first of course.

  • get some men to push it out maybe

  • Once they start and die they are even harder to start. Of course by watching this, I can tell you already know that! I hear ya about the smoking thing, they'll make ya gasp if they don't feel like starting!

  • @wagner59270 is it going to be here in 2011

  • Comment removed

  • hope it does!!

  • A little Vicks should fix 'er right up, sounds like it's got nasal congestion.

  • u going to restore that thing? i have a 46 ford 2n all restored.

  • That is music to my ears, thanks for sharing

  • glad you liked it

  • @wagner59270 that is a nice tractor

  • are you going to rebuild it ,restore it I hope so

  • why couldn't john deere just use a crank. Its so much easier

  • @nachos1990 If you tried to crank this, It'd be like cranking anAC WD45 with 90w. oil.

  • @JRCollinsfan good point

  • A crank is no easier than flywheel start. I think flywheel is way easier.

  • @79fordblake Its all prefrence I just grew up on farmalls so thats what Im used to

  • A trick we use to start old diesel engines is to fill the rad with hot water but I dont know if it would work with a gas engine

  • Hi wayne just wondering. Have you had a chance to try and move this tractor again and any luck with the allis chalmers

  • if the tractor is difficult to start and you gettired of cranking it over by hand, ask one of your friends if they have a tractor with a belt pully and belt to help you start it up.

  • clean the carb...90 percent of these old tractors never run smooth cause all the passages in the carb r blocked with rust

  • Excellent video....according to your serial number it is a 1935 AN. A single front wheel unstyled AN is very rare. I hope it gets an inside home before it snows.

  • C'est le top des tops comme moteur, quel ravissement d'entendre ce son saccadé un pur délice merci

  • i would have not stoped till the deere was moved.....nice tractor

  • Hey get that tractor in side. Those tricycles are very rare and valuable.

  • nice tractor, my john deere b did that and i cleaned the carb replaced plug wires replaced everything in the mag and tuned the carb. kinda sounds like the clutch is frozen or stuck.

  • thats a rare bird with the single front tire

  • Stay with it , don't walk away, chock it lightly when it is about to stall!!

    Cranked many of JD's

  • the vids are way to long take to long to load!!!!!!!!!!

  • Man, I've cranked on our model D until I couldn't hardly lift my arms. She sound good when she fires off!

  • nice tractor its always fun hand cranking the ol johndeeres.

  • Good deal , At least you know you work has helped and its a runner now , soon to be a mover ! at least as far as the shop .

  • Hope you find the time to get it into the shop sometime, Do you use a fuel stabilizer on your equipment ? The stuff really works to keep the fuel going to varnish to quickly .

  • yup I use the seafoam quite a bit when storing a vehicle

  • thats a nice lookin old tractor could be fixed up real nice

  • you never put the clutch all the way in if you wan to get it out of there put the clutch in and it will get out of there

  • well Im afraid its not that easy... one of the wheel brakes is seized so its stuck there for the moment... and if I just drop the clutch it kills it

  • LOL after watching u work ur ass off getting it started twice , then when she stalled out i mutterd ya old sumbitch u Hahahahah Good luck and great video

  • Nice video. For the second time since 1997 that tractor runs pretty good. Also it doesnt look that bad i have also seen worse.

  • whats the story on that bronco?

  • that beauty is an 87 eddie bauer picked it up for $300 runs great but with 180000 miles on the ticker its a little tired but ive got another motor a built 302 in the shop thats waiting to go in check out my other videos cause Ive got one up with a cold start and story of it

  • that tractors in sad shape

  • oh its not great but Ive seen alot worse and at least it runs... consequences of sitting for 13 years I guess

  • no its not.

  • Did you ever get it out of the mud?

  • havent worked on it since that video Ive been busy getting spring field work and yard work done should have something up pretty soon

  • Keep it up I want to see it movin lol .

  • Im working on it

  • Thats pretty impressive that you got the tractor running. You have the unstyled A and my family has a 1946 styled A. They are great tractors to have.

  • yeah for sure they are great and theyll run forever if you take care of them

  • Pretty cool old tractor there Wayne!; now all ya gotta do is possibly put some new wheels on it(IF u can find ones that will fit) and get it out of that mucky ground its in now and hopefully it will still run then as well. :)

  • i found this one on ebay it would not be bad i dont think if it was not 1500 miles away

  • it wont let me put in the ebay link

but put "ANTIQUE JOHN DEERE 40 TRACTOR" in to ebay it should pull it up $900

  • ooh thats a sweet little tractor but I think a little pricey for the condition... but this is coming from a guy that has troubles spending 500 on a really nice car

  • haha ya im cheap too i hate spending money and am having a hard time finding a cheap tractor ... have you seen davidsfarm? if so check out "how cheap am i part 1 2 and 3" its funny as hell

  • oh yeah dave rock kicks ass... we like it lol

  • Sweet!

My Grandfather had a J/D like that.

    Wow that brings back memory's

If you sell it don't let it go for nothing.

  • oh i wont be selling this one... if anything I might be looking for another one lol

  • Good 2 Hear!

  • nice tractor im looking for something similar im not too knowledgeable with tractors i just refer to them as "3 wheel tractors" well i need one so if you know anyone one in Colorado who has a 3 wheel tractor or something similar that basically has a pto and is cheap under $1000 with a brush hog or wants to donate one running or not let me know

  • well you should talk to Buckshotcat he runs some old ford tractors that seem to run pretty good and might be willing to part with one... other than that i dont know the smaller tractors are kinda hard to find for that kind of money... at least in my experience

  • thanks ill check it out thats his youtube name ?

  • yup

  • that will definately get us skinny guys in some good fucking shape way to go bud

  • Nice!! that tractor has a mind of its own! watching you workin so hard to start that thing i think I lost a pound just watching!

All those strange levers and sticks for controls, badass!

  • yeah if I hadnt run it before I wouldnt know what the hell to do to get it to move

  • just get out the 4230 and pull it out, then drive it

  • does that bronco run/drive if it does can we see it drive, that would be awsome!

  • it does indeed in fact I have a video up featuring it I should take it for a short drive but the transfer case is making a hell of a noise... ill get some videos up of it when I get some work done later

  • Green Acres is the place to be,

farm livin' is the live for me. Land spreadin' out so far and wide...

  • sounds good!!

  • What year is that A. It looks to be from the 1930's. Also that is a nice sounding tractor. It is pretty impressive that you got it started.

  • I believe it to be a 35 or 36 itsa 415000 serial number

  • good vid i would have watchet it but i had to work cows last nite with the next store nabor

  • awesome, heh, all these years you've told me it ran when you parked it there but i never seen it run. now i have, it'll be real awesome when you get to do some real work on it and get it driving!

  • Nice work. Fun hearing it run!

  • ha ha yeah even I got a huge hoot out of it... and Ive heard it before

  • Would like to see much more on this tractor. I always wanted an unstyled A. I have a 41 Case SC that I just finished last summer. You can check it out on my page. Keep it up!

  • well Ill keep you posted as I get work done... still trying to find tires

  • we have 1943 or1944 A john deere,it was out just this summer 100th annerversy fair parade, pulled at the fair, it s back in the barn

  • sweetness Im hoping I can have this one going good enough in time for the 4th of july parade in Lambert

  • i got 5 tractors in the parade ,720 diesel,A,U minnie,WD allis, and the AVERY,got a H john deere too, but didn't get it running,and a farmall regular,maybe somedayi get it running

  • oh dude Id love to see a video of that H I havent seen one in years

  • when u were startin it it looked like it was snortin out smoke like a mad bull lol

  • ha ha a TIRED mad bull... "hey guys leave me alone Im SLEEPY"

  • yeah, but i cant wait to see it move! we had an a and sold it and i wanted to slap my dad accross the face! :(

  • well I can assure you I kicked myself after selling the 70 diesel and im not gonna let this one get away

  • yeah id kick ya too! lol

  • You should find a way of hooking a drill up to that or something to start it that way.

  • we tried doing it with an electric motor and a belt the last time we got it running but never had much luck

  • ok cause i was lookin around to figure out what year it is but theres one that i found that looked JUST like it and it was a model B

  • the Bs and As were very similar this one may not look like most model As you see because it has the single wheel and is an unstyled (no radiator shroud)

  • yea b's r just smaller than a's

  • r u sure it's an model A

  • absolutely 100% positive

  • wow man that old girl must b worth a couple pennys to the right person

  • yeah but I dont think I could bear to part with it

  • yeah not too bad Ive still got some work to do but Ill keep you all posted

  • What year is the tractor and has it ever had much work done to the motor that u no of ?

  • it is by serial number either a 1935 or 1936 and someone told me it could even be a 1934... the motor however has never been opened up... like ChuckE2009 has said before though these things will run forever, for shits sake theyve got a 975 rpm redline so theyre barely even turning at wot

  • if the brakes are locked, i will tell you how to free them up a somewhat easy way. hook up a truck or tractor to the back drawbar and put the A in reverse while the other tractor or truck is pulling you back. it will brake the rust seal on the band to the drum and not overstress the drive train parts

  • yup that was kinda the plan only I have to pull it forward because of where its parked... Ill keep you posted on the progress as i find time to work on it

  • ill be waitin to see it.

  • Cant wait to see it drive, ive hand started those model b's took us about half hour it was a pain in the ass

  • yeah theyre not as easy to crank as a guy would think kinda tires you out... when we had ours running the last time you could usually have it running in about 3-5 pulls but I guess sitting for 12 years will take its toll

  • lol i love this old tractor and i find it real humours watching you trying to start it haha i feel your pain.if that thing could talk.

  • oh I see so now your laughing at me lol J/K

  • hell atlease the dang thing runs now =)

  • Again. Electric Start. Best. Idea. Ever.

  • amen to that dude... someday I swear Im gonna find that guy and buy him a beer
