  • this song still kicks ass today...cause it's the truth...lol

  • Sorry -- I'd meant to type 3:34. But that typo (and many other snippets) would no doubt make the point equally well.

  • I've admired her amazing talents, voice and style from the very outset. So it's no surprise that her delivery of this great song is superb. And -- just like Cyndi herself -- just plain fun.

But 1:06, 3:24, etc, etc? Wow. Who knew?

I appreciate the fact that this is just a minor, atypical component of her unique "she's so unusual" persona (pretty apt description that). But when she chooses to let this particular part out, it too will sure grab your attention.

  • She looks like the mom of Hayley from Paramore LoL

  • Cyndi's voice is unique, it stands on it's own. It's her songs that make it magical... Nobody else like her, not back then or now...

  • lo maximooo esta mujer!!!!

  • muito bom não canso de ouvir minhas favoritas

  • I love her voice. My favorite song by her

  • This was the album that started it all for me. Great pics thanks for sharing :)

  • I am going to dedicate my life's work to inventing a time machine simply to go back in time and smell Cyndi Lauper's vagina in 1985.

  • She Paved the way for other female artists.. everyone now a days is copy-cating hard! (PINK< GAga ect!) Ya'll can't touch her! :)

  • She definitely called it right when she wrote this one! My favorite female artist by FAR!!!

Muchas gracias.

  • the great, the best

  • MY GIRL!!! She is an inspiration for any woman!

  • Cyndi hit #27 in Billboard, 2-9-85. I can see Cyndi playin' this 1 on her trombone. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great week!

  • colise des tabernac, this brings back memories

  • @notman1976 NIce to see a Quebecois exclamation in support of this :-) Calisse!!

Just a terrific song and performance. I always loved the quirky outfits and wild hair. But I never knew she could also be absolutely beautiful when she played it straight. Wow.

  • Great song. I like The Brains' version as well.

  • '83 not '84 :-D

  • love song .. i love cindy.. always...............amazie...... albatrozb52 brasil sgolt america save AMAZONIA

  • Buen tema, o good song, mi favorita.. cuando usaba mi jumper de colegio en el liceo A-1 de Arica - Chile

  • This song turns on my straight self and MY inner Lesibian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • one of her best songs

  • I heard this yesterday on 95.1FM in Trinidad

  • This song is 27 years old and just as fresh!

  • oh yeah it does, money changes everything so sad, lost two kids to money they are now embarrassed about where they grew up and who their parents were so hate money, am blessed have family and love but no money blessed more by life than by money , when I had it it did me no good I just gave it away......really hate the part when they make it and forget where they came from when they place money in the priority list...

  • she is the ultimate artist...so underrated!

  • grande cyndi

    de las mejores por siempre

  • I love Cyndi .

  • Love me some Cyndi. Catered a party in LA where she performed for the ET Emmys After Party last year... She rocked it but, she kinda "ain't right". In a rockstar kinda way, I guess... it was kinda weird. She said a bunch of random gobbldy-gook throughout the performance. ROCK ON Cyndi. Still love you, girl.

  • Not my favorite of hers, but definitely good...

  • Love the synth work on this one.

  • Es uno de los mejores temas de Cyndi Lauper y me recuerda mi años en la secundaria, como olvidarlo...

  • And her Queens accent shines through. the moment on this version where she drops to a lower register going into the chorus is absolutely thrilling. Y'all should go to the top of the page and type in Tom Gray, that wrote this song, who had a band called the Brains, and is still playing very good music.

  • Madonna who? The original by the Brains is extremely good. Cyndi writes great songs of her own and chooses impeccable covers. Prettier than Katy Perry, better bod than Gaga, but also, an original artist.

  • @aprilglaspieable Amen on all parts!!!

  • @aprilglaspieable

You are so right , so right......so right.....

After 30 years, Cindy is still ..... everywhere...... and GAGA ?????

Where will SHE be, after all those years......

    80`th forever..........:)

Greetings from Austria (and sorry my english)...

  • @MrSuperheli Very well said!!!! God Bless!

  • @MrSuperheli Gaga what is GaGa the only GaGa thing I know Is the great song by Queen Radio GaGa

  • @aprilglaspieable The voice is amazing and it's always been, no compare with madonna or caca cindy rules a vrai true artist

  • @aprilglaspieable Madonna is very snobby in person. I'd hate to have to hang out with her IRL, she thinks she's this British upper class woman of sophistication. She lives off her name, and now she tries to 80fies her daughter.

  • Madonna who?

  • This is her best song imo. Nobody plays this one anymore either.

  • @bucky468 I think so too. They dont play alotta stuff that they use to play. I dont even listen to todays music anymore. Just not worth it! It sux! Theres absolutley no originality (in my opinion) nothing unique. Thats one of the things that grabbed me about Cyndi. Shes not only original..but definitly unique! Somewhere, the love and the emtions of music has gotten lost. Its been replaced w/ money and greed. Which is soooo sad! Doesnt seem to be any heart in it any more.

  • Yeah, agree with both of you. It's amazing what a narrow range of oldies gets played on the radio. Amazingly disappointing.

  • @bucky468 Agreed.

  • Dammit i miss the 80's !!!!!!!!!!

  • this was my anthem back in the day!! 80's music ROCKS!! pop music today could use a little dose of this great music!

  • her best song by far

  • she rocks!

  • i first heard this song during what now seems like a hilarious moment... i was sitting in a basement in the dark with five of my friends and we were all drunk and listening to this song on an old record player, rocking back and forth to it LOL

  • Super pic selection. Its cool to see such a wonderful unique artist evolve.

  • i just love all cyndi song

  • i love you cindy esta cancion es una de mis favoritas jajaja cuidence todos jajaja bye

  • She is so cute, and talentous...I love her, since the 80's, when I was still a teen. Cindy Lauper...the best of the best!!!

  • Money is king. I'd rather have money than love. Money pays the rent not love.

  • I like Choking Victim's version better.

  • What an incredible sound !!!!

  • this so 80's! great!!

  • This song ROCKS.... Friggen love it man......

  • Altos embalos ..... X-Lize e Sistema X.

  • I'm exactly the #52,000 viewer

  • Cyndi Lauper was my first crush at about 8 years old and is the sole reason I became a lifelong wrestling fan and still love them punk rock girls to this day.

Money doesn't change everything, Cyndi does~!

  • i had this tape!!! love you ...

  • I like her hair style, love her voice.

  • this reminds me of when I was caught driving at 267mph in a mall carpark and the police and I worked something out.

  • 2.48---> 3.19 acting out ;-P

  • One reason I love this song:

If you were to play all of her albums in sequence, starting at the beginning, this would be the very first track. Thus the opening chords of this song are, historically, a kind of "Hello, I've arrived" message. Still make me smile every time I hear them.

  • Aha--great point CPhillips92. Increases my appreciation of this song.

  • Love you Cindy Lauper! besos desde Costa Rica! Come and visit!

  • What a unique and beautiful personality.

  • I was (and still am) so in love with her...'cause she is so unusual!!! ; )

  • Lets see lady ca ca sing like that, huh?

  • É como voltar nos anos 80 foi bom demais ouvir cynde lauper ela sempre, sera sucesso .

  • primeira artista pop que eu gostei na vida.

first pop artist that i was love in my life

  • Love the synth work on this one.

  • When I make changes (upgrades?) to my stereo I play this on vinyl and that note she holds for soooo long @ 4:29 lets me know if it is indeed an upgrade! Love her voice!

  • Hit #27 pop, #37 rock in Billboard. God bless!

  • One of the greatest song writers, performers ever to live. I was a 9 years old when this song hit the airwaves. Cindi is a true Artist.

  • great song always loved it .

  • It IS a great song... but man, I feel bad for the guy she's talking to

  • @boyinthedrain --I agree, everyone talks about "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" or "Time After Time" but it's this more obscure treasure that might stand as her greatest moment. It's certainly her most overlooked.

  • @911insidejo8

So many overlooked songs. My favourites among the relatively unknown are "One Track Mind", "Heading West", "A Night to Remember" and "That's What I Think".

  • Actually its 1983.....Anton Fig on drums!

  • They shake your hand and they smile and they buy you a drink /

They say we'll be your friends.. we'll stick with you till the end /

Ah but everybody's only looking out for themselves /

And you say well who can you trust ... I'll tell you /

    Trust /

    Nobody else's money /

    Cause money changes everything

  • hey cin! did not get a chance to see you in concert for 20 plus years. I am in love with the humanity that glows from you. hope to see you in another show soon. love you did money! one of the great songs of my teen years. may be some day i ran into you so i can say hello!

  • Thats cool that your mom introduced her to ya! I have been a fan of Cyndi's since I was about your age! She has one amazing voice! :)

  • She's so unique and cool. I love her style. Even now she looks so young I can't believe she's 59.

  • Did ya happen to catch her on "Bones" tonite on FOX??? She looked really good! I have always loved her acting! :)

  • No, I didn't. Is it posted on youtube by chance?

  • You can find it on "HULU" ......they posted the show. I dont believe its on YOUTUBE.....but you can def. find it on "HULU."

  • Thank you.

  • @Mehrunissah93 How do you get 59? She was born 06.22.53- that makes her 57.

  • @ryanski77 Maybe I looked at a different article giving her birth date.

  • @Mehrunissah93

That's because she's not 59...not quite. She's 57 now, and 56 when you wrote your message. I know this for sure, because I remember being smitten as a teenager, in 1989, and being surprised to learn that she was 36.

  • @Mehrunissah93 money changes everything, you even look younger with it...

  • @Mehrunissah93 i agree! my mother introduced me to her since the age of 6 and ive liked her ever since. im 16now going on 17 soon. Cyndi Lauper is amazing anyone of any age can love her and enjoy. :) she has and incredible voice.
