  • I personally don't like the proximity of the bars before '89. I hate all that hip bouncing and stuff.

  • Question: is her last name pronounced guh-nock or just nock? I always thought the g was silent.

  • Wonderful. She earned that gold medal.

  • it seems to me Maxi is not a push over..she can actually compete against the Russians and Nadia...she is, to my opinion, skilled and part of the top 3 gymnasts of those times..hehehe...i think todays gymnasts could learn a lot about presentation, grace, poise...from these old gymnasts..

  • Uneven bars routines were at their very best in 1980.

  • Ma Yanhong's bar routine is way better at that time, I wonder where she was and not in Moscow...

  • No, Ma Yanhong did not compete in the Olympics until 1984. Her routines would not have been "way better" than Gnauck's in 1980.

  • @QueenieQue I guess you don't know it, but Ma and Maxi tied for the bars title in 1979 WC.

  • @QueenieQue Well, Ma Yanhong tied with Gnauck for the 1979 world title on uneven bars in 1979. At the very least, they were equal competitors. It would have been an interesting competition had she been able to compete here.

  • @sassyfloridian Blame the boycott, China didn't compete in Moscow

  • @sassyfloridian

The Chinese boycotted these Games, and Nadia, in spite of perfect 10 in AA, did not compete in the final (fall in TO).

  • Maxi can do it better :D

  • I loved her. Superb.

  • OMG
