  • "Beau Soir" (French for "Beautiful Evening") is a French art song written by Claude Debussy. It is a setting of a poem by Paul Bourget. Debussy was twenty or twenty one when he wrote this song (ca.1883), and his music was marked by the aesthetics of the period.(From Wikipedia)

  • very good

  • Great!

Can somebody please help me to find this free piano and violin sheets?

  • Absolutely beautiful!!!

  • Hahaha purple hair hahahahaha

  • Beautifully played, but the violin is a bit brisk for my taste.

  • Friggin' Debussy wrote this when he was like 16 or something. What an asshole. I wish I had a lock of his hair or something.

PS: Forgive my ignorance but is that a viola? It has a real depth and throatiness to its sound if it is indeed a violin.. I dig its sound!

  • what are those double stops he's playing in the middle of the song???...sounds like it...my favorite part...of my favorite song ever...

  • true justice

  • Well done! This piece opens a radioshow called "Nightsounds" ... it's nice to hear it played all the way through.

  • @xsobbs Nightsounds is where I first heard this.. when I found out it was a Debussy piece I kinda chuckled and said "...Explains why I like it so much." Nightsounds was the best. I fell asleep to it every chance I got. What a voice Bill had.

The end of this piece gives me chills every damn time I hear it.

  • this is exceptional...the best moment by far is the final note...a very skilled violin ability you have along with a very good accompaniment on the piano : ) well done, guys

  • I Love You Mara, my baby...

  • AMAZING!!!

  • god.

  • one of my favorite songs by debussy, this song decided my love for classical ( which is the most recent genre of music i have come to enjoy)

  • Yeah, it´s really beautiful, music with feeling.

  • Lovely! Beautiful and subtle interpretation. Loved the "wait-for-it-wait-for-it" moments @ 1:30-1:40ish -- the mark of true artists!

  • short but beautiful.

  • Gabriel Faure.

  • Thanks :D

  • Look up RAVEL and FAURÉ.

If you like something more modern you can try ERIC SATIE (Gnossiennes, Gymnopedies).

  • Thanks a lot! I really liked ur suggestions :D

  • erik satie's style is a lot like his. and to a certain extent, maurice ravel.

  • Kol Nidrei (Bruch

  • Thanks a lot :D

  • I like the flexibility of tempo while still maintaining the integrity of the piece. The musicians complement one another and the instruments were well balanced. thank you for sharing such a wonderful performance.

  • Very beautifull !!!!!!!!!

  • i don't know what note this is played but this is the best beau soir amongst the others I've listened to on youtube.

  • I absolutely love this piece. I love all of Debussy's work. This is my favorite of his songs besides Claire De Lune. You guys did a wonderful job. Thank You.

  • Um LOL.

  • Joshua Bell's Beau Soir is softer

    and sweeter.

  • WONDERFUL this is really impressing !

  • amazing

  • with 600 CDs I realized I had not heard Beau Soir before so off I ran to U Tube and wandered through the list till I finally landed on yours.

Excellent technical recording, the playing sounded perfect. Have you watched the Gitlis recording on YouTube of the Rondo Capriccio?

Stunning from visual and audio reference. I had never heard of him. I have now, he plays, or played, the Sancy Strad. Not too shabby.

  • nah... there's good tears, this song is just amazing. my boyfriend and I play each other songs, recently I played him Beau Soir, and he played me Arioso.

    Love it.

  • every time I hear or play this piece I cry

    very well done

  • Powerful sound! Maybe not as delicate as I'd prefer, but everyone has differing tastes! It always amazes me what a haunting composer Debussy when his work is done well, and this IS done well!

  • LOVELY!

  • lol that guy needs to breath ... you guys play really well together!!

  • this is such a beautiful song.

i played the accompaniment for my choir.

and i pretty much fell in love with it.

  • really, its bizzare, becose you make sum same slights like hem, but okay, maybe you are a disendence of heifetz)))) Bye

  • i have the recording of Heifetz, you hav tryd to imitate the recording Echo and Reverb, good Job, but heifetz is Heifetz and was and stays allways.

  • I haven't actually heard Heifetz's recording of this piece, but it is nice to hear that you found a similarity in our renditions.

  • @legocky Often when you hear two renditions of the same song, you will generally hear musical instinct take over, and often the results are similar, but individually creative, listen harder and don't listen for Heifetz accents or anyones' who plays a tune while you listen to someone else's rendition. You'll only spoil it for yourself and for others. Bravo

  • @Legocky Maybe the echo and reverb were unintentional

  • Indeed the evocation of a beautiful evening.

    Many thanks to both musicians.
