I know you may get alot of mislead guidance with music nowadays.
but let me direct you to my channel. you like floyd? youll like us. love hendrix? youll love us. Give my channel a chance. trust me youve got nothing to loose and a new great psychedelic band to gain. Promise.
Pink Floyd is one of the few bands that sound better live than on an album. I saw them 7x, including twice for theDS tour in 1973, also in "75" and "77" and 3x after that, without Waters.
They performed longer versions of their album songs. And they also gave more for your money, with two encores. Many bands do a quick 4O minute set, but Floyd often played for over two hrs.
@TheWoodstockWarrior i've personally never seen a live show that wasnt at least 50x better than said album.. but ill agree that the Floyd experience was definatly stellar ;)
there are alot of 'underground' psy bands that tour today, if you're into that vibe.. you'll just never hear about them unless you go find them for yourself sadly. the man no longer brings good music to your door, just commercial trash these days.
try papadosio, umphreys mcgee, or boombox. keep the good vibes mate ;)
Thanks for sharing this. It's a trip to get to hear it after all, & after all these years. I was supposed to be there, I know it. Dad knew it too. Shame on mom!
This concert rocked. Driving up the Harbor Fwy from Gardena we could see giant spotlights circling in the sky right about where Exposition Park was. The closer we got the clearer it became; giant beams of light weaving their patterns over the Sports Arena. Very cool. Then the police gauntlet; we still smuggled in joints. Got high, watched and listened to DSofM and WYWH. Super cool. Walking out of arena to our car we stared up in amazement as every spotlight was aimed at the full moon. too cool.
Pink Floyd Live in Oakland 1977 3-disc 2CD/DVD set, Pink Floyd Live at Earl's Court 1980 DVD available at Tommygun Video, please see our youtube channel for link, video/audio clips, more info
I saw this tour In Atlanta Stadium In 1975 In Atlanta Georgia. They did Raving and Drooling and Ya gotta be crazy.I think they shortened the show because of rain and came out and done the entire Dark Side of The Moon and encored with Echoes.I remember some Idiot up front screaming...Gilmour,eat my preparation H before the show. Then It started raining and the Infield tarp was pulled over everybody's head and joints we're being lit everywhere...crazy time..the seventies!
@tjrtherocksponge As it is written above, WYWH was released on Sept 15, and these clips are referred to Los Angeles concerts, performed between 23 and 27 April. Actually, my video description is wrong; this was not filmed before WYWH recording sessions, but during the recording sessions (and before the album was released)
The local LA news reported this concert as a bummer for those carrying the Owl or anything else, but we got the ol' sa wa dee khrap in there OK. Everything but looking up the ol' bung search going in. And, yes, the comics are real. Raving and drooling (Sheep) lyrics and all. My bro' still swears he has his copy after all these years. Great, great concert. Better than the Hollywood Bowl in 72.
I have the LA Sports Arena show from April 1975 which is a good recording and a complete concert(I like when Waters goes after the security after the first set)But I want to strongly recommend to fans the November 16 1974 Wembley show.NOT the November 15 show. The show from the 16th was a BBC broadcast, excellent sound and a great look into the Floyd experience in the 70's.Check it out!
If I could,I would...but if you do a blog search in Google and look for Cruel But Fair or Echoes From The Past Platinum Edition,I can assure you that you'll find this gig in its entirety...cheers.
@qbc176 Thanks. I was fortunate enough to be there at the Sports Arena to see this. Despite the security goons. The Hollywood Bowl version of Money was the best. Didn't they hand out comic books with alternate lyrics at the LA Sports Arena show? My brother claims to have one from this show .
@popeiix I have a copy of the April 26 and 27 shows...On the 26th,Roger chews out 'you people in yellow shirts....',I guess security were assholes and on the 27th,Roger dedicates Raving and Drooling to 'Mr.Davis, chief of police of this fine city'
I heard the LAPD were busting people during the show...is that true?
I'd like to get my hands on one of those comics if they exist.
If you recall the film version of 'The Wall' there is a police riot outside a venue and if you look closely a sign says LA Sports Arena Tickets. Although this happened in the mid-seventies, it was recalled for the film version.
badass man. I would have given this video five stars, but because YouTube puts the "1 star" rating right next to the Play/Pause button, I accidentally cliked it... :( I seriously didn't mean to. If YouTube would let me take it back I'd fix it. Sorry, dude. Your video rocks.
limunan: not so sure which was the last performance of Echoes with Roger. I do know they performed it at the Knebworth Festival in '75, which was a little over a month after this concert. They didn't play it at all during '77, but then they added it to the set list again for about 12 shows in 1987--after Waters had already left. They decided it didn't go over well as an opener (duh) and dropped it completely (they should have put it at the end, since everyone would've been stoned by then!!)
This is British Winter Tour 1974 or Wish You Were Here tour. The end of British Winter Tour 1974 was in the start of 1975. Dark Side of the Moon tour starts in 1972, ONE YEAR before The Dark Side of the Moon came out. Ending of Dark Side tour was in 1974.

The thing about this series of shows is it was the first rock and roll shows that took place in LA city limits since the very early sixties. At that time most all music was presented at either the Inglewood Forum, or the Santa Monica Civic. It was a very ugly scene as lines of police arrested any and all pot somokers and booked them right there in trailers they had set up especially for this. I remember at the time why floyd did not refuse to play unless the cops stopped.
It was the L.A. sports arena-i was there on opening night. First night of a five night stand and the only other band that could generate the massive buzz happening around this band at that time was Led Zeppelin (although Robin Trower and Jethro Tull came close too!). Anyway you could cut the excitement with a chainsaw and i was in a group of six people and we each ate 2-4way hits of clear windowpane and we had to run through the biggest police shakedown i've ever seen-BUT THE SHOW!!!!!.....
Hi everyone, just currious if anyone new the location of that show in Los Angeles?Im thinking it may have been the sports areana show a good friend went to.recording is great.thanks so much..Best,Jaystoner73
