I've just been reading about how Les Dawson apparently saw Sid James' ghost in the dressing room of the Sunderland Empire where Sid died, and fed in horror vowing never to return and never having spoke about wat he said was 'The most horrifying experienceof his life' - Weird to see both Sid and Les here together!!!
i've got a load of these on video given to me by the great ray martine. he was a hoot. used to come in the aromatherapy shop i worked in and hang about smoking tabs and insulting the customers.
My Wife And I Went Shopping And So While We Were In The Shop The Store Dectective Caught A Shoplifter And He Ended Up Before The Judge And He Says To The Judge ''As God Is My Judge...I Am NOT A Shoplifter'' The Judge Says ''I Am He's Not You Are!!!'' lol
According to the late Bob Monkhouse, this show was planned from start to finish. Nothing spontaneous about it at all. But it's nice to see so many departed comedians again.
"I'm not strictly a comic , I'm not a comic at all. The other blokes are comedians, i am more of a sort of re-actor, so i let them do it and i throw in a couple of counter punches, that's all i can do"
I got to this video through Michael macintyres biography

I wish I have video taped all these classic comedy shows from Granada Plus, but sadly the channel is gone, and has made room for utter crap.
They also screened The Comedians..Wheeltappers..and early Coronation Street.
There is room for a channel like this for old shows of all kinds.

Wasn't this an ATV production at the time? I certainly remember watching it first time around - if only we had something similar these days.

Ray Martine was one of the first 'camp' comics. Made his name on TVs 'Stars & Garters' show. Ended up running a stall on Blackpool Pleasure Beach!

It's the UK version, totally different from the one we saw in the US hosted by Jack Barry and Bill Cullen.

And to think that those fashions and that hair hasn't dated. And doesn't Clive Dunn look like Mr Sex? Were the cameramen drunk in the 1970s?
