@MrSamus101 It's a powerful song because it's a variation of the same scale. Repetition is a form of emphasis and here it really shines. Of course, it's not for everyone, but it's also important to know that repetition can be very effective in a song with the same, simple chord progression like this
Man when i first listend to the song i imagined a guy playing form the heart...emotional....but i see now that that guy has transformed in this bored guy with hi ugly guitar...
I can't ever hear this song and not think of Eddie Hazel. Even if it is Michael Hampton playing. No matter how many times he plays this song, it will ALWAYS n FOREVA be Eddie Hazel that comes out of this song, and no one else :)
This is a good version of "Maggot Brain" for Michael Hampton. Eddie Hazel the originator of this song by far has the better emotional connection to this song. I believe Mike is starting to try to invoke more of that Eddie Hazel feeling into his playing. Mike had a chance to make some great music with Eddie, but he focused alot of attention in those days to just drowning Eddie out. These two could have been great if they would have left George Clinton's control.
Thanks for the post. Mike is truly a rare talent and a good friend. Great video and sound quality. So many bad sounding versions out there, it's refreshing to see this one. Brings out his real sound.
Funkadelic have the most soul out of anyone in this damn world. Hampton is just overall an amazing musicician, i met him in a concert in london. Such a cool guy, whilst everyone was partying he just packed his guitar and went to take a nap. Hes all about the music man. Peace ma brotha
