  • Travel in my mind with this video...

  • nice picture

  • i have a 1978 zenith 25 inch console sitting in my back room, it's going to be repaired soon and will be going in the living room of my future house, i like old, vintage stuff, including kitchen appliances(refrigerator, dishwasher, range, etc) and thats what im going to have in my own house, fuck new shit!!!!!!!

  • Good day,

Wow you have quite a collection!

Reminds me of what I had some 20 yrs ago. I wish I had space, as I had opportunity to get the top model in that line. It had a very fancy cabinet on casters. Remote controlled & good CRT. Bummer no room for it. Twin speakers.

I like the RCA you showed in your costume. I believe it was 1953/4..I had the same model (for Canada). It was plain cabinet but otherwise same, & worked. Yes 17CP4 also.

    I have a few TV's you'd like! Like a 1953 CTC ?8? Colour.

  • I HEAR ya! I got about that many, too! Just don't have the money for caps or time to re-cap em' all, so I just re-cap 1 when I have a little extra money & time. Lost my TV shop a year ago & after losing it unexpectedly had a heartattack & nervous breakdown, so spent the last yr in recovery, slowly gettin back into it...let me know if u need any work done...I'm poor, so could really use the money

  • HEY! Wutz under the LID ON TOP? waited thru the whole vid & was hoping to see, but never did...could u do a vid of the innards? If it's a stereo unit, where is the right speaker? does it use the one in the TV escutcheon or is it on the end SIDE? You'd probably correct the vertical problem by re-capping (replacing ALL the capacitors). I restore these 4 a living if u ever need tubes or parts or work done, let me know! Thanks~!

  • @seatboi I plan on doing recap when once I get to it, and do a full restoration on the unit. I have about 50 televsions that need restoration work hehe.

  • @spatsbear2 i have 4 TV sets and they all work, one has a color problem, I LOVE COLLECTING TVs

  • WHAT a GORGEOUS SET!! I restore these for a living & you, Sir have one FINE example of an EARLY color TV! Congratulations! ;) PS if u ever need any knobs, tubes or parts, let me know...I have tons!

  • That's pretty groovy! I grew up watching a 1979 Zenith Chromacolor set which was similar but did not have the stereo at one end. I remember those cartoons though and haven't seen them in years. Cool.

I just uploaded two videos today of my 1967 Zenith Console stereo - there's no TV in it but it does look similar in styling to your set.

    Happy Times!~

  • that sure is a nice old tv ... but i was noticin ... got a serious sag in middle - ya might have to install middle legs front and back ... to repair the sag, ya know?

  • Real cartoons not that fucking nightmare cartoons from cartoonetwork

  • cartoons from 80's and 90's

  • Hah, wonderful.

  • hahaha Boomerang! the block! I remember that being on CN. I'm in the mood for some Snorks about now.

Something magical about watching cartoons on an old set.

  • I remember having a "Baycrest" television (I'm guessing HBC, or the Bay's private label TV) that had the classic pull-knob for power, and turn for volume, that was the days! I believe that TV was made in 1979, too bad I got rid of it in 1999 :(

  • I was watching this vid again because it popped up in the recommended section... Started to get absorbed in Talespin right before you shut it off :-)

I was wondering, did we ever discuss who the OEM of the Channel Master CRT could have been? I don't think they made their own tubes.

  • @Maxxarcade No, I don't think we've discussed that.

  • very very nice tv,it looks very beautiful.vintage electronics are the best.

  • Our first color UHF TV was a 67 Zenith console, but our s did not have the large speaker on the side. Is the speaker pretty big, like a 10" or 12" with mid & tweeter? Does it have a spearate amplifier for the speakers? Pretty kewl set, always fun to count how many tubes it has inside too (well over twenty)!

  • sound awesome!

  • great post, a true testiment to american

quality zenith built some of the best

radios and tvs americans should still have

those jobs. modern electronics are junk

  • Wow I remember watching Cartoon Network on Optus Vision back in 1996, that was an interesting time. How long has pay TV been operating for in America? Believe it or not, here in Australia pay TV didn't start operating until late 1995.

  • beautiful TV )) thanks for posting

  • i miss the one i use to have mom fixed for me it was bigger than this one cause it had a lp player and stereo in it also i was two years old and iremember the first movie on bambi it was ghosty n staticy i didntm mind that any i jsut loved that tv.

  • This TV is also a stereo with a record player and am/fm tuner. 2 8" woofers and 2 oval speakers.

  • o staticool, it brings back so many memories i love it, all nice n staticy memories i love em all i hope to get it back one day.

  • Good stuff spatsbear, the year i was born guess were both getn up there! (me and the tv)

  • Hey! Whats the big idea turning it off? I was watching that! ;-)

You have brought me back. My parents got a 25 inch color tv with a big wooden console as a wedding present in 1967. I was born in 1969 & grew up in the 1970s watching all sorts of movies, syndicated reruns of classic tv shows & cartoons on that set. Watching this video, I'm 5-12 years old again, sitting in front of the tv, watching my cartoons on saturday mornings while eating bowl after bowl of my favorite breakfast cereals.

  • @classicphile your memories are quite similar to mine, as I was also born in '67.

  • sooo jealous man!!!

  • Great amazing set.great picture,supior sound

  • Very nice! Its very hard to find zenith combos like that. I bet it has a 23XC38 chassis!

  • Penelope Pitstop! I remember seeing that when it was NEW!!

  • If you want to see a neat warmup display, look at a 1968 Zenith color job. Does a kaleidescopic design before the picture appears. That was our first color set, and I think drh4683 has one in his videos.

  • My dad got this Zenith console (less the big speakers on the side) back in 67, it was our first color TV. I remember my mom and dad arguing about the color settings ("don't adjust the color on the commercials")! It also was our introduction to UHF! I think we had perhaps three VHF and three UHF channels at the time. Now I have DirecTV and ther was more to watch back then that I liked! Too many infomercials! Beck then it was Ronco and Ktel! Thanks for the vid dude! :)

  • Awesome console, nice to see it working finally.

  • Wow, the pix and sound quality is amazing! Itz even working great with the original caps too!

  • Beautiful set! These Service Saver Chassis were made to last forever!!

  • Watching vintage cartoons on a vintage consolo set. That rocked.

  • What aFANTASTIC old set! Beautiful sound too.

  • Man, you're right, there is a warm glow to it, a softness to the images that work great with the cartoons.

I wasted so much time watching Heathcliff and He-Man after getting home from school. :)

  • Nice Demo!

  • Nice set! When you get a TBC, make sure it's full frame!

  • AWESOME! It works great!

  • Heathcliff I loved that cartoon havent seen it in years, omg I remember that spinning Hanna barbera star animation from my childhood. I've watched a lot of these cartoons back in the 80s. TaleSpin loved that one too. the big bear piloting the airplane also played Baloo in the jungle book movie.

  • Thats so cool!!!

  • Newer high quality VCRs, especially S-VHS, have built-in Time Base Correctors. It's great that it uses the full sound system for the TV audio!

  • I have a 2004 JVC Pro Series SVHS with a time base corrector in it as well....

But I need to get a TBC anyhow to run a lot of my vintage VCRs on a lot of my old TVs.

But that TV does sound fantastic, especially being tube audio!

  • This TV looks like it is working great too and the CRT looks real good..

YAY top cat ! I love how there are the little slots cut in the hat for the ears!

  • Old cartoons on a old retro console TV, that's the way to go!

I see that boomerang over there in the US is still showing the golden oldies. Over here boomerang now just shows crap, barely any old stuff at all anymore.

  • hehe, thanks :)

That tape I was playing was from back in 2002 I recorded off of a satellite dish. So I do not know what they air now currently on Boomerang.

  • @CoolDudeClem its a very nice tv and movie, isnt it?

  • It would be fun to watch Back To The Future on that TV :-)

OMG Top Cat, I haven't seen that in ages.
