@brisulph Build interiors with wood for walls and subfloors, exterior with stone brick, on the plain with lots of wild grass. You can carpet the wood subfloors with wool so you won't have tons of wool to harvest for a house (plus not being flammable exterior helps.

I would almost find it funny if you built your exterior with obsidian. You do have those surface lava pools to mine.

Surprised no one has said it yet, but the sheep eat grass to regrow their wool after you shear them so you don't have to keep finding new sheep. Also, the sheep regrow their wool the same color as it was before, so theoretically you only have to have one sheep of a certain color (and only one unit of whatever dye) and it could supply you with infinite amount of wool of that color.

As for a name that both sounds like and makes fun of New Zealand, how about New Sheepland?
