@thedragonb0y I'm a big fan of the AVGN, but when he bagged on Castlevania 64, that was the first time I disagreed with him. I mean, maybe it's because he was such a hardcore fan of the classics, but I mean, come on! This game fuckin' rocks. I have no idea why he hated it so much. The music was cool too.
@thedragonb0y Graphics? Are you shitting me? People hate this game because of the GRAPHICS?! That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard! When are people going to learn that graphics are just a small part of the game? That's really sad to know that such a good game like Castlevania 64 is being bagged on because of its graphics. That's like saying you hate a good painting just because it wasn't made by famous artist. Gamers have really lost their senses over the years.

We don't just watch movies these days. We watch it in HD, 3D, and maybe Dine in theater.
We don't just play games. HD, Blue-ray, online, 3D, DLC.
We don't just read books. Nooks.
Not that these extra features are bad, but the fact that so many people see it as required. I can't tell you how many times I've seen reviews of games having points being taken off due to no online.
@thedragonb0y the bad thing is...we are taken in by it. I spend much more time on games with online multiplayer now then single player games. I am a little less of a person because of that.
However I stil read books instead of on the ipad/kindle, and I don't really care about blue Ray/HD etc.

Richter is the last belmont between 1794 (more or less) and 1999 (Julius' victory). He's a human vampire hunter, the heir of the Belmont family, vampire hunters since... 1094 (Lament of Innocence). In his original design, he looks like Ryu from Street Fighter : he's a true badass warrior, not an emo.
Alucard is Dracula's son. Half blooded vampire, other half human. He fights his father. By his supernatural nature, he's got an unnatural beauty and strength.
Perfect "vampiric" music. Castlevania 64 was hated by many people, but it was the most "vampiric" of all ! With the vampire villager and the mirror, or the vampire and his vampirized victim, or the Virgen statue tearing blood (cult moment) !
I wish this music is redone in a future CV. I love it !
that's why i think this game deserves a remake, just imagine the atmosphere of this game with new-gen graphics. also, they can put more details of the story through more areas like the village.
@DamascusTer While I've never actually played the game, I think the main reason people hate the game was the really poor camera controls (even by N64 standards).
@gruntora Camera controls were horrible at certains moments (platform jumps, in the first level or underground/sewer ones...), but it wasn't unpracticiable. IMO, people didn't like the disparition of Alucard / Kojima / Yamane (as if Fist Struggle, Silent Madness, Castle Center, Tower of Sorcery, Lamented Rose, Malus Appears, Invisible Sorrow... were bad !)
@DamascusTer Word, at least its better than Twilight. But thats wat people like now, Depressing Vampires dat express Love, which is soooo fuckin dumb.
@CubanoRicanTony360 Love, depression, romantic... I like it. But i don't like the overdose. Silly example, why Richter, heir of a badass family, is gay-ised in SotN ? Ok for Alucard, who, as an unnatural creature, can have asur-human beauty and aura, but not for a Belmont !

It's hard to tell why people hate this game? Is it because when the AVGN speaks it's written in stone? Kinda like Castlevania II.
That game? shit? Come on! Remove all preconceptions and get your own damn opinion sheep.
That's how I did it with this game and even E.T. It turns out I actually ended up liking E.T.! XDD

Yep, i don't know if LoI or CoD have scenes like that, but for me Castlevania 64 has the best "mise en scène" (the maneer of presenting a scene).
