Can someone explain the storyline to me? Why is Dante attacking the Church? Why doesn't Nero remember hes a demon? Is he not brothers with Dante?

Question, is it me or was Dante not taking this fight seriously. As if he's playing with Nero, and when Nero was pounding on him his devil trigger started acting up hmmm....
