@mdude009 Yeah it was good. It was way different from the games story line even considering it was written prior to the chernobyl incident. Unfortunately apparently the locations originally intended and a lot of the book was taken out as russian propaganda (upon the books release in the early 70's) making it a pretty short read : /. If you enjoyed the movie though in my opinion you'll like the book.

I wanted to watch the actual film, but the only languages I understand are English French and German. And only because french and german are so similar to english. Everything else sounds like the same two syllables over and over again. As for the music...How about some silent film ragtime piano?

indeed- tarkovsky was like the USSRs hollywood. if i recall correctly- he did this film twice, because the master got destroyed.

the book this movie is based on. "roadside picknick" is also very great. i was sad when i finished, its too short- i could walk through this universe for weeks.

even if it sounds nerdy, and some may not agree: almost 40 years after the book, we even got a great pc-game- i think its the best end-time-game ive ever played- awesome atmosphere.

Such a beautiful and mysterious film , I saw it when i was 13 years old and the images have stayed with me for r , for some it may be quite slow moving as a movie but its real art tarkovsky the director talked about sculpying in time and all his movies are like that !

Solaris and Andrei Rublev are also amzing films

cause of playing the game right now, i must say, hey! the get the atmosphere very well. the landscape, the buildings, state of things. and there is more, not only the nuts. remember the dog? it became mutated... the cut scene were the stalker lies down in the gras...

i think the only similarity is in the film the Stalker throws nuts with fabric tied to them and you do that in the game too to look for anomalies. aside from that.. nothing comes to mind. oh, ofcourse in the film the area is called The Zone.

The GSC Dev team just tweaked the idea to fit their surroundings. Oblivion Lost, what it was originally going to be called, was truer to the film.
