A note on care on this one. I changed the flow of water over this rock inadvertently so after a week all the anemones moved and split and a couple crawled onto fully caged powerheads.which was not good.
I rectified the situation and 2 nems returned back to this rock, and I now have 7 surviving in the tank from about inch in diameter size upwards.
This anemone seems to bubble its tips when the light intensity increases. This group of nems sits in between to LED lighting systems so it doesn't get direct light but at an angle so I think it is slightly less intense. If one branches or splits off and moves to the right of this spot where the light seems to be more intense its tips form bubbles and shorten maybe to decrease the surface area that receives light or maybe to counteract different flow conditions, I have not conclusively decided.
love the anemone is it really a bubble anemone I know they like a mature tank right? would anemones be fine while I dosed more calcium in it? I thought that was a condi anemone lol!
@jptzy these blue tangs will try and hide and find a place to spend the night when they know the lights are going to go out. Especially if you are consistent with lights out on an automated system. They tend to hide and just their tails show as you have seen. Thanks
It is a bubble tip that has split twice in the last 12 months so it must be happy, but I am not sure why it doesn't really shrink to cause the bubble tips anymore. one of its offspring which is smaller does.
