There are several police agencies including, Utah, Colorado, and Nevada that now have un-manned/remote control helicopters. They say they are to report raffic accidents, locate missing people, and track wanted vehicles. I would bet every state has them or something similar
Look im fine with video surveillance of public areas. Cameras sit on street corners and helicopters follow suspicious vehicles. I jsut think that these operations should be completely open. Thats my money paying for that drone I want to know everything its used for and why? I want to know how much it cost. It could be very useful patrolling streets, cops use so much gas every year. But we have to prevent it from being abused. Its a very volatile use of power that we have to keep in check.

At least with the helicopter the cost keeps them from doing illegal searches on a massive scale but with these things they can spy on every single person at very little cost.
