paintball (and i know i will get bashed for saying this) has grown to be more and more of a fashion sport than an extreme sport. If you don't look good, rich, and intimidating... no one takes you seriously.

Dye took this to heart and got rid of a plain simple effective color (olive) with an effective lens (the hd lens) and replaced it with what most of their customers want... flashy colors and patterns, dark mirror lenses to look badass, and shiny gold and silver accents.

@NPPLNCPAPB not in production anymore. they stopped making the olive very shortly after release and then went to producing the "liquid" and "camo" patterns as they call them

Its sick looking and stuff. But, its pretty expencive and it hugs your face really really badly. It feels suffocating and is a bitch to put on. (For me anyways, I tried my friends on) plus you got the worst color they made

@videoman223 well... thats all personal preference. I play a lot of woodsball and i have camo XSV pants and the olive matches nicely. If i were strictly a speedballer i would have brightly colored gear and would have bought the mask to match.

@volcom754 yeeessir. you can actually put an i3 visor on it and it looks mad shmexy. you might have to do some very minor mods on the visor such as cutting the parts that stick into the mask down so its not as tall but thats optional

I have played in literally every type of weather from snow to rain to sleet to fog to bright sunny muggy days

ive played in temperatures ranging from -2* to 103*

ive never had a problem with fogging. I have a smokers long so i breath heavy (damn second hand smoke) and it hasnt even slightly fogged once.

However... due to the large vents on top, when it rains rain will get inside and will get on the lens but not fog

@marksiwel its a protective thing. you dont need to have it there. Its near impossible to see out clearly with it there.

If you ripped off the foam and plastic inside the lens along with the small film THEN you are fudged

the breathing is superb. I have "smokers lung" due to massive amounts of second hand smoke and i never short of breath.

magnificent. my only complaint is that for some reason, the geometry of the lenses increases glare on really sunny days when looking in the direction of the sun. its amazing for the woods though (or you can put a vforce visor on the mask)

but do you think an airsoft bb could make it through the mouth cracks?

Only reason I want to buy a mask for airsoft is because of the chipped tooth horror stories, but if this can easily fit a bb then I'm not sure if I should bother

well... there are masks specifically made for airsoft but if you are looking at getting a really high quality mask i would think that dye i4 should be fine. The bb wont be able to fit through the openings easily and would be extremely slowed down before even reaching your mouth. you would probably barely feel it

I've actually encountered this a lot when buying my stuff. I ordered some proto 08 pants, and was sent a pair of dye c9's instead. I ordered a VL Evolution 2 hopper, but recieved an Empire reloader B instead. Ordered an Nxe 4pod pack, received an Nxe 4+3+2 instead.

they look great. i'm buying my first lot of gear and now i think the i4 is on my list.

i would ideally like to spraypaint a camo scheme on it - do you think the flexible plastic would take paint well or would it just crack off?

anyway, very nice. the forehead vents look very breezy.

it would just crack and peel off... i would suggest using the camo on the hard plastic areas such as the frame area around the bridge of the nose and thats it... good luck though

video posted of lens removal, you can see the bridge of the nose area and the seals and such. The bottom of the lens comes back and goes under a lip in the frame so that the paint has no way to get up inside your mask.
