I make baby clothing now and then and would like to get into making premature baby now (a friend had a premature baby and i found myself having to buy clothing when i wanted to make some). so i am trying to learn what lengths the baby tends to be if born early by weight. your answer would help me lots. and anyone else who sees this, length and weight of your early baby? I was a premature baby myself. I was born on May 9th,1997 . I was born 2 months early, a litle under 3LBS. I am so thank for that I survived.I never knew how close to death I was, intil i heard these heart breaking stories:(. I was born with minor CP....I am a 14 year old teenager who is only "4.10" and my whole life I have lived not being able to do what others can. sometimes I wish i was like everyone else. I just cant beleive that right now I could be died, not sharing my story with you.

I was born 3 months early too, I only weighed 1 lb 7 oz.. I had to be in the NICU for 3 months and went home only weight 4 lbs, I was on the news.. Never had any problems after I was born, no infections whatsoever, no fussiness, no health problems at all, perfect hearing, breathing, eye sight... it's crazy when you think about it, I got extremely lucky that my parents didn't have to have anything to worry about considering some premies have a lot of health problems and even learning disabilities

Aw soo sweet and ssuch a miracle. I notice she has an oxygen tube on, will she be needing that the rest of her life? My baby had severe lung issues-PPHN when she was born at 34 weeks. I feared that she would need breathing support upon release from hospital when the opposite hapened, she'ss actually a screamer now hehe

sooo precious! my dad was full term weighing 1 lb 1oz and about 8 inches long.

he was the surviving twin of a T2T birth. His twin weighed over 7lbs and died at birth.

Dad was born at home in 1942 and was so tiny that my great grandmother wrapped him in cotton wool, placed him in a roasting pan and put him in the warming oven of the wood stove to keep him warm!

yep! he was born in 1942 so no such thing as NICU back then. you just did what you could and prayed. Dad was born at the height of the dionne quintuplettes craze so folks came from all over to look at him in his roasting pan lol

my nephew was also a surviving twin born at 34 weeks. he weighed 4lbs 3oz and went down to 3lbs something until the dr got a clue and put him on demand feed instead of scheduled. now he's a 6ft tall 17 yr old!

@AmzyWhore aww I'm sorry to hear... that's every new moms worst nightmare... my baby was born at 34 weeks, but her lungs were so ad at 1st, she had to be put on a special oscillator vent machine where it forces the lungs down on her, so I feared for her life. Now she's been home a few weeks and she's such a lil screamer :)

i am happy for you, last year my son was born at 24 weeks, due to hellp and ecclampsia, he was 1lbs 2oz and he gave us a wonderful 9 days before leaving us for a better place, those images of her tiny body in the NNICU brought back many memories for me, all of them happy ones of the short life of my son

i am always glad to see when one of these tiny miracles survives such an ordeal, god bless you and your little one

just be careful, watch out for her eyes, as she grows she'll have major eye problems, mostly regarding her retinas. i was a preemie, as well. i was 1 lb 4 oz, at only 22weeks, 21 yrs ago, it should've happened when i was in NICU but it didn't it happened when i was 14, & then last yr i had another operation for my other retina, that one was a laser eye operation, but i have a buckle in my right eye. feel free to message me & stuff... ok? WOW!!! Bailey is beautiful....! My baby Freddie was born at 25 weeks and weighed 1lb 9oz, I know just how hard it is to look at them and think how can I help you pull through this nightmare... and from their tiny little bodies comes is this great srtenght and a sense of belonging to you both then the next thing you know that nightmare is over and they are rolling around on you living room floor trying to explore everything around them. oh and boy does she look like her daddy!!!! god bless x x x

Bailey was so tiny. Smaller than my little Lauren, born at 25 weeks gest. I had to make a choice to keep her or let her go home with the lord. I chose the lord as the dr's said, she would never dance, hear, laugh, etc. She had hemeriged two sides of her brain. She was 1 pound and 11 oz. She would be 12 today. What a wonderful documentary of Bailey's journey! She looks wonderful and tugs my heart strings. Some of her pictures are just like my Tommy. When I had severe maternal anemia at 35 weeks with Lilike and she was born term but sick and ended up in NNU on iv antibiotics for 7 days and a 9 day hospital stay due to suspected sepsis. I was scared it would happen again. It did not alerting me to taking iron tablets day with Locke. He was born healthy. 28 weeks pregnant now with another little girl. On iron tabelts early with slightly low iron levels.
