What a great memory. Sunflowers seem almost magical to me. They are such happy plants. Thanks to the squirrels and birds and the birdseed we feed them, they are all over the place. People refer to our yard as the house with the sunflowers. Neat! I hope you still grow them. Lynn

That reminds me: When I was a teen we had 1/2 acre of extra plowed garden space Mom decided not to use that year. I got a bag of Sunflower bird seed and planted the whole 1/2 acre by hand! I was real proud of that! I have a picture of it somewhere. Each plant had multiple flowers. Years later I had a sunflower with 31 flowers on it! Thanks for bringing back those memories!
