  • I bought the car partially finished for $2500. It needed batteries and an onboard charger. The motor controller failed some months later so all told, another $2500. One year later with no real problems.

  • i wish i had something like this

  • lets see the motor and batteries!!

  • turn off the music...we want to hear it :)

  • Where are you located? Do you think you could convert a VW Bus?

  • I wish I had the time and expertise to make one for everyone who wants one, but I'm not quite that talented.

  • this car uses clutch????

  • Yes, I kept the clutch, but you don't have to.

  • no sound of electric motor.

  • The road noise is greater than the sound of the motor, but I'll make another video without the music.

  • How fast does it go and how many miles per charge do you get?

  • Due to the behavior of lead-acid chemistry batteries, in 70F and above I get 70 mph, and about 40 miles per charge. In extremely cold weather say, 25F I get about 60 mph and 25-30 miles per charge.

Different kinds of batteries have different performance characteristics.

  • I've had it up to 70 mph, but I'd say 65 is more comfortable. I get 35-40 miles range depending on traffic conditions.

  • Neat, did you buy it already converted or did you convert it yourself?

Any more videos of the system ?

  • The car had been converted in 1992, but it was a totally different configuration. When I bought it, the car had been severely neglected and I did a lot of repair work to get it running well again. I could build a duplicate if I wanted to.
