Man, I can't get enough of this band.

I can often get sick of Death 'n' Thrash metal etc (find it hard to take seriously?). But doom is always the best to turn to in my opinion.

Of all the styles in Heavy Metal I love most about in the Doom Metal. Music here is trying to flow without unnecessary changes to the tempo. It's light as air and also heavier than lead. The best teams of this style is Solitude Aeturnus and Candlemass.

Any guitar players listening to this, I'm not too experienced with dropped tunings, and I'm almost certain this isn't standard xD Would anyone be able to tell me what tuning this might be in? I tried drop C (which is the only dropped tuning im semi used to), but I don't think that's right Dx

Immense! The vocals are unrivalled. Robert Lowe is without any doubt one of the best vocals in the history of music. I personally like Candlemess a lot, but S.A. excels also in the lyrics, if you can take a look at the lyrics of this particular song you will see what I mean. It makes me shiver every time I listen to it. And I do it quite a lot!

@mcg413 Oh you will definitely love WG, Friends Of Hell and Death Penalty are excellent, there is also a really good live album (Live 83) available through their website. And the 'Buried Amongst The Ruins' compilation is worth a listen if you can find a copy. Just don't buy the 'Resurrected' comeback album, some good riffs but they don't sound right without Zeeb Parkes on vocals IMO. Anyway, DOOM ON my friend!

@fuzzleredmenn Witchfinder General is awesome!, along with all the others you mentioned. Some other great ones are Solstice, Cathedral, Warning, Reverend Bizarre, Pagan Altar, Goatsnake and Witchcraft. Witchcraft isn't exactly a heavy doom metal band but I think fans of 70's era Pentagram and Black Sabbath would like it. Doom what thou wilt brother!

Big fan of all those bands actually, I love all styles of metal, but there is something special about doom, I don't know quite what it is, but the atmosphere of great doom metal is rarely matched (Apart from Celtic Frost, Mercyful Fate, 70's Judas Priest etc obviously) dark, arcane, and fundamentally heavy. DOOM on brother!
