  • I wanna hug Graham.

  • cheer up graham !

  • i love coxon he is so damn good guitarist

  • watch?v=46CNp89_52Y

  • Yeah... Charmless Man is a really depressive song if you put aside the music.

  • he was really excited lol

  • me encanta su ironía...siempre dicen algo..jajaja

  • this band should have taken America by storm!

  • Damon + Cocaine= a fun time

  • @jwild611 i was thinking exactly the same Thing XD !!!!!

  • @jwild611 i want me some of that good shit damons on.

  • So good! Thank you.

  • ELVIS IN YOUR FACE, AMERIKANS!

  • the beatles the twenty-first century?

  • Graham Coxon is an unbelievably good and under-rated guitarist. He could have crammed a solo into every song, but he didn't, he just complimented the music perfectly with licks, riffs and harmonies.

  • hate family guy from now.

  • @bibibaba1165: The Simpsons are better.

  • haha alex james just shaking one leg at 0:38 , he's too cool

  • Oh dear god Damon... haha brilliant song though.

  • its true that damon wrote this song for morrissey?

  • @diegomansi I hope so.

  • Damoooon and his sunglasses, aww so cute, his fucking cuteness and crazyness distracts me from the song, great band!

  • Damon!! so cute and funny

  • dave, great drummer

    VOTE DAVE

  • Lol Conan doesn't know what to think about Blur... hahahaha

  • alex keeps giving damon... "lulz wut your so gai man" looks

  • Hilarious young Damon...

  • I live in Los Angeles, there is not one 80's or 90's club that They don't play "Girls and Boys". Other than that though, you guys are right. Blur is all but forgotten...but Gorillaz is very well known...weird huh?

  • @Gunslinger48 i do find it werd. Gorillaz are fucking amazing, but Blur are better. I'm suprised they aren't still remember. Only song people remember is Song 2 ..

  • @Gunslinger48 well songs like "Dare" and "Feel Good" were big here

  • This is good live. Are they still together all these years later?

  • jajajajaja Damon looks so childish,

the years have passed me by!

  • @ ninjainscrubs its called entertainment

  • corking tune

  • What's up with Damon? This is just weird. Is he playing up to the Americans? Because he's never been like that in any other video.

  • @ninjainscrubs why what is he doing thats wierd?

  • to much coffee before the show.... ja

  • @ninjainscrubs

He often danced quite silly like this. It was probably in jest. Maybe he was on something that made him a little loopy...

All I know is that he looks so sexable right here, I could watch this with the sound off all day long (and then dream about it all night).

  • this song is about Morrissey "i think he'd like to have been Ronny Kray, but then nature did him make him that way"

  • Ahh ? so the reference to "this charming man" ?

  • yes, The 80`s charming man" , "The 90`s Charmless man"

  • @warzsawa80 it isn't about morrissey, morrissey is an influence on Blur, i think it's more of a tribute than anything else, some people say it's about Suedes lead singer, which makes more sense because why would you insult an influence?

  • Graham was going through a really hard time at this point

  • their so good alive

  • Graham the cute...

  • Alex the cute !

  • it's funny. It was watching Family Guy and they reference Blur as a depressive band you listen to when you want to get into dark stuff, just because the United States only caught Blur in there latter years. In the UK, Blur are the kings of the cheeky comedy pop songs and videos. in 95-96, they were the pure definition of a party band.

  • you are totally right

  • Nope, only got Song 2. America sucks. Though I am Canadian and Canada basically is America because they are right beside each other. It is hard to get into great bands over here. Oasis got popular in America which I thinks sucks because they suck

  • @ianhitman Well yeah. Only 13 is there depressive. Well, it just isn't like their britpop stuff. It is just like The Beatles White Album... Beatles were a crazy rock n roll party 50's style band and White Album is just full of weird songs. Just like 13, anyway... 13 is their best album.

  • @Capuano231 Wasn't thirteen all about Damons break up with his girlfriend from that band????

  • @ianhitman They probably have only listened to Beetlebum

  • @ianhitman Can you tell me in what episode they talk about Blur? Thanks!

  • @ianhitman well i agree, but i also think that family guy had a point. Because throughout their career, despite the upbeat tunes, many songs have darker, kinda depressive undertones. Wear Me Down, This Is A Low, Clover Over Dover, Country House & even this to name a few. IMO, that makes Blur even better: they make songs with slightly depressive lyrics sound magnificent and cheerful :D

  • @ianhitman what episode is it?

  • @ianhitman oh my god family guy mentioned blur? even if you don't remember the ep number, can you tell me what happened in the ep so I can do some googling and find it?

  • @SuperModelVogue it was one of the very earlier episodes in series one i think. Joe's son (who we never saw again) mentioned them when he was talking to meg.

  • @ianhitman I never caught that episode, which was it?

  • @ianhitman what episode?

  • @EmergencyBagels I think it's the one where Peter tries to become a hero, and ends up trying to prevent/stop a bank robbery, and outside Meg bumps into Joe's son, and she asks what music do you listen to, and he lists off a bunch of sad British bands (Blur, Radiohead, etc.), and goes "because I am not a robot!!! I also listen to Phish"

    Sorry for the long answer.

  • SIMPLY WONDERFUL!

  • lol I love that sunglasses

  • They are some impressive Sunnies man!

  • <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • when it was this?

  • Johnny Greenwood played bass in Blur, OMG!

  • LOL...no that is Alex James who plays bass.

  • @Rambo29

    no it's alex james

  • looks like sid vicious at 0:25

  • such legends, in terms of gear, attitude and above all: tunes

  • i love damon's sunglasses!

  • dios me encantaria estar en un concierto de ellos, dios xd desearia q vinierana mi pais,q volvieran a sacar un disco i love youuu damonnnn

  • To anyone who is from the U.S.A. were Blur ever big and well known there?

Brilliant band by the way, saw them at hyde park a few weeks ago :)

  • Blur weren't ever very popular here much in the same way XTC is unknown. But just like XTC, they are one of the best bands EVER!

  • blur isn't really big in the states but they are big to me

  • I think the only song they know from Blur is Song 2...

  • I'm not from the US but I once saw this MTV show called 2 hit wonders and Blur was there just like Silverchair...what a bunch of ignorants in the media, I guess they prefer hip hop or bubblegum pop cause they sell and its easier in so many ways

  • Blur and Sliverchair? 2 hit wonders? No way, that's too funny. Ignoramuses (holy shit, that's a word? Okay, spell check says- yes it's a word, Cool.)

  • For real! The only VJ who knew about them was Kurt Loder...I hate those stupid MTV pricks!

And mate, if "ignoramuses" its not a word then it must be!

  • Haha! I know an Aussie when I hear (read?) one! I'm sad though, I thought I'd invented a brilliant new word, but spell check said- "Yes" and implied- "It's already a word. Been done. I know it. Dopey." {:-( LMFAO! I suppose so far as Blur and Silverchair are concerned, it's their loss huh?

  • Sorry but I'm not an Aussie...

  • LMAO!! Don't be sorry mate, you can't help it! I thought because you said (typed?) 'mate' and not 'dude' that you were one of us, haha! No worries, I'm not fussy who I talk to really, so long as they're funny. You fit the bill there, funny person! So, you're..um...British? (I was born in Scotland). Or looking at your name...Finnish? I dunno, help me out here!

  • Ummm I'm actually Mexican! but I learned british english and I like the way they talk there...its not like I'm a snob or anything I just dont like the "dude"

  • yo entiendo

    jajaja

    en lugar de dude

    por que no usar "mate"?

  • damooooooooooon!!!! *__________*

  • Great song. Also I think the keyboard player is gorgeous.

  • It can be odd talking to someone who doesn't know who Ronnie Kray is but it's a good thing. If everyone knew everything in every part of the world things would be boreing.

  • DAMON ALBARN IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!

  • Damon is such a G

  • Comment removed

  • wenisima cancion

  • I was wondering if many Americans actually get this song and all the allusions to Ronnie Kray and stuff. It's interesting because (Song 2 and that album apart), Blur never really made much of an impact in the States. For me they've always been a quintessentially British band.

  • "I was wondering if many Americans actually get this song and all the allusions to Ronnie Kray and stuff."

Since by 'Americans,' I'm fairly certain you mean anyone residing in North America, I, a Canadian, will field this one.

I admit i had to look up the name Ronnie Kray for this song, like I had to look-up 'Jackanory' for "Country House", "Primrose Hill" etc.

We do get irony for the most part, though. We're not complete morons...yet.

  • Yes, sorry about the reference to America as if it's one country. Still, interesting thoughts though.

  • My point was more a question about how well Blur translated outside the UK because Damon Albarn did say that the point of Blur to to try and get back to an authentically British sound.

  • "My point was more a question about how well Blur translated outside the UK... "

Well, I have British heritage so I'm quite interested in learning about all things English. I think I'm probably in the minority, though.

Obviously the only big hit they had in North America was "Song 2", probably the most American sounding thing they've ever done. For most people they probably didn't translate that well, then.

But neither did The Smiths, The Jam, Pulp, The Libertines, early-Who etc.

  • Oh you're quite right there, many British bands don't translate very well (the same can be said for much of British TV and comedy as well I suppose).

  • I agree, and its nice to know some american know the values of good music, breing british, and its prob best kept that way or, well before you know it, we'd have damon albarn with a wod money, looking like 50 cent, and well pete doherty would sound somthing like fall out boy, god bless america and currupition is what i say!!

  • Im American & anyone iv'e mentioned Blur to doesn't know who they are unless i say they did song 2. Its a different sound but i think the lyrics would work anywhere. Also, Americans love the British accent.

  • Depends what accent of course, I don't think many Americans would recognise, for example, a Scouse or Geordie accent as British. (In the same way that I wouldn't recognise many regional variations in America or, say, France.)

  • i did cos of morrissey lol

  • this is the best song ive ever fucking heard. bang on nananana

  • hahaha Blur are the Oasis's dad!

  • Quee Oasis Aguante Blur Damon se portaa papá!!

  • I think Damon is mocking the singer from oasis

  • I think he is obviously mocking Elvis and America, it has nothing to do with Oasis. Give it a rest people. It's been 14 fucking years.

  • que es lindo Damon :)

    xd

  • y gracioso.

    XD

  • ok i like blur, i really do, and this song is cool, but their stage presence here is laughable. grahams posture is awful, alex is doing some weird shit with his leg and damon just isn't on of 'the grate frontmen', even though his voice is very distinguishable. (compare his stage presence with liam) Also one thing ive noticed being both a fan of oasis and blur is that nobody ever comments about blur on oasis vids but every other comment on a blur video is talking about oasis.sour grapes perhaps

  • "but their stage presence here is laughable"

I believe that's the point. I think Albarn once referred to their stage performances as a comedy act.

No denying the sound they managed to get live, though. Quite often it's better than the studio originals, IMO.

  • Stage presence, laughable. Nobody in Oasis ever fucking moves. And all Liam does is "act" cool, with both hands behind his back and a bended knee. Damon here is mocking Elvis and all of America with his bratty imitation. No blur fan ever comments on Oasis videos because we don't need to, it's pissed off Oasis fans, that notice their band being irrelevant since 1997 that come into blur videos and make bad comments to incite. Lad culture and Oasis died in 1998. Give it up already. Grow the fuck up

  • I just said that because I hate Oasis too much

  • blur are more original than oasis. and this song rocks

  • does graham ever move? I saw a photo of him jumping, but I have no idea if there's a video o that.

  • Coxon's guitar riffs here are so fucking heavy and yet totally melodic.

Anyone who know's playing piano in the back there? It's a lady.

  • blur forever!!!

  • look like Bon Jovi haha

  • great nostalgy

  • fuckin' hot!!!!!!!!

  • haha im sure he is mocking one ghallager :D and look, liam and noel are good musicians, their problem is their behaviour..

  • noel, liam sucks. fuck them. oasis' music is fucking cover version of beatles. just it.

  • yeah. i like the beatles but oasis are just trying to be them. blur ar their own band.

    blur rule

  • Well said. Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • you just proved you know very little about music blur is copying the kinks if you were an expert on music you would know that.

  • yes they they are inspired by the kinks but there not obsessed and trying to be them like oasis trying to be the beatles

  • Coppying the kinks maybe in terms of their content, but their music is much different. It's more electronic and psychedelic, whereas the kinks are kindof like a folk-rock band.

  • kinks are not a folk rock band they are far from it.

  • damon's nike t-shirts is fucking great and his sunglass shines him more.

damon's performance is better than liam fucker.

  • alex looks cool

  • Such is life on the tropics.

  • Watching the first minute when Damon starts singing and with that attitude I can't help but feel he is mocking some Ghallager... hehe

  • HAHAHA! I think you're right!

  • I thought exactly the same thing :D Especially with the sunglasses.

  • Wow Damon! nice performance as usual mate! Blown away!

  • Haha Damon was such a brat. I love how he sizes up Conan at the end, like saying "Goofy looking motherfucker".

  • the guitar parts on just about all the songs on the great escape album r so intricate, n love the bass lines as always with blur tunes. genius. tho i think this is from the time graham was suffering with alcoholism n personal isues - he doesnt look happy, ac song tho

  • damon is so cool wtf

  • Ok ok... lots of Damon and Graham, Damon and Graham... bla bla bla. But what about Alex James? Playing bass with his style must be really entertaining. He's really talented. Love every single bass lined he played, and he still surprises me as i discovered some 'bass details' in their songs :)

The Great Escape, the first record I ever bought. ¡Viva Blur! :D

  • Line* surprised* I* Sorry for mistakes... I should go to sleep xD

  • a mi me encantan todos.

    I love all of them!

  • Alex is the most handsome from Blur. And very intelligent man just like the others.

  • Listen to Alex James' bass line on "girls and boys" to really hear what he's capable of.

  • And what about 'Entertain me'? This guy has an elegant and awesome style playing bass. Greetings!

  • Alex is an underrated bassist. "Bang" is another great example of his talent.

  • Who is that on piano?

  • Diana Gutkind, she played keyboards for them till about 2000.

  • go damon!

its a shame blur never made it in america, yet jame blunt is huge.

  • Are you an american?

  • i love blur

  • There's something I will never get about this Blur vs Oasis war is how you can compare a band as versatile, deep and experimental like Blur to an absolutely talentless, pointless and boring one which has been doing the very same SONGS and NOTES on each album forever.....

  • Nada q decir... *****

  • i think hes takin the piss out of oasis...

  • arguing with oasis fans on blur Vs Oasis is pointless. where as people on blur's side might talk about the depth and difference in albums such as 13 and think tank, Oasis fans are 'manchester! Oasis, liam is fuckling mint' etc etc

  • Graham 3:15-3:17 lol

  • lol damon looks like such a cunt i love him so much ;_;

  • love damon doing elvis...well funny!

  • Who's the bird playing the keyboards?

  • i like how Alex's shakin his leg 0,39 - 0,43 :D

  • hhahaaa yes!

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

  • WRONG

  • haha doing elvis moves, classic

  • notice that hes wearing sk8ing shoes much earli
