  • @shimstr hey i finally gat my betta a new big tank 5- 10gallon i think so could u or anyone else see the video n advise tankmates. ........any help is appreciated

  • Really nice tank. But why don't you just keep them in your 10g they would be much happier?

  • wait so bettas can live with other fish? do they just hate other bettas then?

  • @End0987612 my experences with bettas in a community was not good. i had a female betta, and it killed a corydora and two longfin zebra danios. i wouldnt reccomend it in a community especially with long finned fish, as the fins were nipped, but i suppose it depends on the betta if it could live with short finned fish, liek these neons

  • @BarrelRollking oh yea? hmm i wanted to do something like this video, have a few female betas and maybe some neons or some other small tailed/finned fish. do you still have your betta?

  • how do you clean the tank with the ghost shrimp

  • wait, people please answer me, i too have a 5 gallon, and i was wondering are neon tetras suitable for it?

  • @BarrelRollking there good in a 5 gallon he even had some in his.

  • Wow awesome tank! how much was it!? just asking because i am getting some fish and i just adore this very tank! please reply

  • Hey. ....i jus got a betta u can see his vid. ....my question iz i want to get neon tetras. ...i hav tank around d same size but is it advisable pls rply anybudy

  • is that a marina 5 gallon tank?

  • Im hungry

  • 7 tetras i thought 4 was too many for my 30 gall lol they do need a ten gall min because u have to keep them in trios or more get the ten gall back b4 they die plz

  • Gorgeous

  • omg :) i want to build something like that it isn't a simple tank it's art

i liked it congratulation dude ;)

  • Great aquarium. Very nice!

  • the neon tetra are the best fish for a small tank, they are realy pacific, no need breading place

  • SHRIMP! nice do they keep the surface clean like crayfish do? I want to start a small 5 gallon for my room with sand bottom, shrimp might be great option

  • I've seen these for sale in Petsmart, but never with a light and hood.

  • i want this set up. i just bought my betta fish and tank yesterday and i already want to buy a 5 gallon tank with some tetras and ghost shrimp. \

  • Dude that is awesome. Beautiful tank to

  • i had 2 betas together and nothing happened but when i had to put my poku in there he ate them and pokus are plant eaters

  • so you can put other fish with bettas? Ive been searching online for answer but all they reply is "NO NO NO! Never put them in such a small place!"

    XD

  • Beautiful! :)

  • Is that really a 5 gallon tank? Looks so big! Is it glass or plasic walls? And where did your get it?

Your betta and fish look very happy :)

  • I luv Betta fish ...I own 7 of them ...

  • @hajjiweb

The success of having a male betta in a community tank really just depends on the temperament of your fish. Some bettas like the one in this video can be very peaceful among other fish, others can't. I'm not sure if there's anything you could do to make him more docile~

  • plz HELP me

  • actualy ; i putted BETTA with NEONS but he killed of them , what am i suposed to do to make the BETTA peacefull against the neons ?

  • @ Chunky154557

AW HELLLL NO! Jk but goldfish need at least 10-20 gallons. Sorry, but try guppies! They r so pretty!

  • do you think 5 gallons is enough for one goldfish?

  • @Chunky154557

I agree. Gold fish can get pretty big. I would do 10 gallon minimum for a gold fish. Best of luck to you ! Record your setup and share it on youtube!

  • @Chunky154557 thats more then enough goldfish only get the size their tank can hold they dont really have a max size if u put one in a 5 gal it will get as big as the 5 gal can hold if u put it to a 10 it will get biger and so on and so forth but goldfish wont outgrow ur tank becuz they only grow as big as the tank will hold

  • @Chunky154557 The rule for a gold fish is 10g per fish :)

  • @Chunky154557 Gold fish are carp and therefore get very large I'm pretty sure 29 gallons is the minimum for the smallest gold fish while most need at least 55 gallons. Goldfish should be living for 10+ years in there optimum environment. Google is your best friend if you want to get serious about keeping fish.

  • @Chunky154557 10 gal minimum for sure!

  • @Chunky154557 of course 5 gallon is enough for a gold fish... but if she gets fat then you have to provide more space to her

  • @Chunky154557 no, you need 20 gallons for a goldfish and 10 gallons for every extra goldfish

  • Great video. I'm about to get a tank, and I've also decided to go this route for fish. After watching this video, I am even more enthusiastic! Could you please tell me where you purchased your supplies from? (Filter, heater, tank, driftwood, gravel, etc.?) Thank you so much for this video. I've watched it numerous times already. It is very informative.

  • hey man how long did you soak that drift wood for?

  • This is a great tank. Thinking about doing something similar with my 10gal and betta. What kind of plants are you using?

  • @allymnorris

Im using silk plants. They look very realistic!

  • question. i just put in some neon tetras with my betta, and the betta chases them around all the time. is that normal? or will it go away later?

  • @wlhbyVids

I think it just depends on the temperment of the fish. some are more docile than others. hopefully that behavior stops after he gets board of them!

  • @skimstr i love your tank! i am not trying to be rude or anything but that tank kind of looks like a 10 gallon not a 5 gallon.

  • @wlhbyVids well all i know is that its probably because betta fish are very territorial and will chase other fish when it enters their territory. but not all betta fish are like that because there are some people who have betta fish that live fine with other fish

  • this is the most beautiful tank and d most simplest i hv ever seen , ur arangement of plant woodlog, fish are just perfect , i must hv watchd ur vid more than 30times i feel calm the way neon swim and baground music is serin and woodlog is amazing , beautiful fish...

  • @gulzar63

    Thanks!

  • /watch?v=Rd0Tff4vYxM

  • Neon tetras don't contribute much to the bioload and the one inch per gallon is a myth really it depends on how big a fish gets and if it contributes alot to the bioload or not each fish species is different plus if it was over stocked the fish would be in distress and those fish were very happy

  • thats how bettas should be treated

  • how many bettas are in there?

  • The betta fish isnt feeling good you need the cleaner for the betta and if you put it with other fish they might die..

  • hey pls reply me. you don't use airpump? How well will it work without air pump? Is filter alone enough? someone pls help!

  • Maybe you could add in 2 or 3 guppies or 2 more neon tetras that would be fine.

  • @KPOP4everr you are crazy. that tank is already overstocked. even if you just stick with the "1 inch per gallon" rule it's overstocked. i would only ever have a single betta in my 5gal, not a betta AND 7 neons.

  • that tank is to small 5gal 7 tetras and a 2in betta!you need at least a 10gal tank

  • are those live plants if so what is the live plant in the front

  • Pretty pretty... I have black gravel too. Love the landscape.

Your gravel is like really deep! I just filled my tank with enough to cover the base, like 1.5 cm deep?

Also, can i ask do you clean the gravel (like siphoning) or just leave it alone?

  • i dont have a crowntail betta, i guess i have a normal one, i dont know. does it matter??

  • What do Ghost Shrimp do?

  • How long have to had this combination for? I would like to get something like this for my 5 gal I just got as well, and I am very curious if the fish are healthy. It would be ensuring for me to know you have had it for a long time. Are they fishes still alive today? Does the betta swim enough, or does he get pushed into corners by the tetra? And how are the tetras doing? They don't seem to swim much in the video, are they happy and swim a lot?

  • Where did you get the log? Do you think that I could keep a small school of neons with my Crown Tail Betta and 4 Mickey Mouse Platies? It is a 10 gallon tank. Do you recommend the Petco silk plants?

  • can u put fighting fish with neon fish

  • @michael32191

Yes you can! They get along VERY well, you can also put Bettas with

    Tetras

    Danios

    Platies

    Rasboras

  • Wow this tank is amazing. Can someone help me? Should I get Cardinal Tetras instead of Neon Tetras? and what do you feed the ghost shrimps? Do the tetras and shrimps require air pump? Thank you:D

  • lol that is not a 5 gallon.if it is it is a large one.and my pet store are doing bye 7 of any tetras for 4 bucks.good right?

  • @nemo220901 That is 100% a 5 gallon tank. The tetra deal sounds good to me. I would go for it!

  • hey did you get the betta first and did the nip at each outher at frist

  • @anstar99 The beta was in the tank for a few months by himself then I added the other fish. No fin nipping took place.

  • @skimstr thank you

  • @anstar99

I put all of the fish in within a 1 week period. They all get along great. Never had an issue with fin nipping.

  • Nice

  • That's a 10 gal

  • I have a question? what type of table you are using for this 5 gallon tank, because i'm looking everywere for one that holds the tank

  • @CarlitaLoveMakeup It's sitting on top of dresser that holds clothing. I can fit on virtually any table top.

  • Tank looks nice, but I'm not sure why you think maintaining a smaller tank is easier. Big tanks have a lot more room for error. I guess the amount of water you need to change could be an issue for a larger tank, but the frequency you need to change water increases as you get smaller tanks.... Just don't understand your reasoning.

  • @zharnotczar I meant I only had to replace 1 gallon of water using a 1 gallon water jug rather than having to replace 5-10 gallons of water in a larger tank using a 5 gallon bucket. Its just a lot less cleaning involved....but you're correct to say that water parameters are easier to maintain in larger tank.s

  • Cool tank nice setup!

  • SOME OVER REACTING COMMENTS ARE ANNOYING, 5 GALLON TANK NEEDS MORE FISH MAYBE 10 OR MORE, SINCE NEON FISH ARE SMALL,.

  • @EGQJR7071 That's the aquarium caulk. It can appear to glow white under certain lighting conditions.

  • Do u feed them the same food

  • OVERSTOCKED!!!

  • check out my tank its awsome

  • wow nice can you tell me in my 3 gallon if i should keep my veiltail betta and 6 neon tetras? :D thanks

  • 6 Would be too much man. 3 or 4 should be the ideal.

  • @mikeyg17368 yh me to lol

  • @mikeyg17368

Thank you very much :) I think fish tanks are therapeutic in general

  • hay man fantastic tank also 1 question how long did u soak the wood for mine is still releasing tanants

  • @AwesomeAssassin1000

Soaked it in warm water for 3 days

  • This was so nice to watch :)

  • Comment removed

  • haha my stupid brother put my betta with cichlid and the betta killed the cichlid? i'm like :O!

  • how much all together

  • @jaydotion For everything brand new you're looking to spend about $60.00

  • @skimstr thats austrailans right and were did u get it

  • Nice Tank :)

  • Will the tetras reproduce in there?

  • How much was that tank?

  • real nice tank check out my tanks ehgdfb609

  • nice looks ntural

  • Do the beta and the other fish get along?

  • did you say i might buy a 55 gallon tank. how will you fit that through your door?

  • I love it! its a great size, looks cozy. the black gravel looks great. I like how you decorated. very nice!

  • Thats a really pretty tank :p very nice fish too. I am getting my first 20L fish aquarium tomorrow then getting two small black moor goldfish, I will upgrade when I can afford. What type of plants do you use? are they real or plastic?

  • Nice! Where did you buy your 5 gl tank? Thanks!

  • Did you buy your drift wood and If so did it sink right away?

  • Love it. I already have a few Same Tetras. And i want to get a new betta. My old one died years and years ago. He lasted about more 3 years.

  • hey, this is once of the simpliest n' best looking tank i've seen so far on youtube....

but are u sure it's a 5 gallon tank?......in my country the ready made 5 gallon tanks look so small......

what's the diemension of ur tank?? i might ask a person to build a same diemensional tank......looks perfect for a school of tetra n' a few shrimps...

  • don't use ghost shrimp, get cherry shrimp otherwise your neon tetras will get eaten trust me i know.

ghost shrimps grows very fast and they tend to eat small fish like neon tetras.

  • @eliden dont be stupid, shrimps eat onlz algeas, not meat, i think that tetras will eat shrimps and betta will eat them for sure ;)

  • @RedCupOranda shrimp doesn't just eat algae, they are omnivores, so they eat both meat and plants. at first i thought they were just scavangers, i guessed wrong. take it as a warning, grown ghost shrimp will eat small fishes such as tetras. and stop calling people stupid. i'm just talking from personal experience. those 15 ghost for 1 dollar ghost shrimps will eat small fishes. trust me i know. i've had aquarium for over 7 years now. gl.

  • dude, i am gonna make the same combination of fishes, and will try ti make simmilar set up :) wish me luck, but i will use live plants and they'll be little more diferent, and wont have ghost shrimps, only balcan loaches or kuhli loaches, or corydoras paleatus few of them, my tank is 30 litres :)

  • i have a 5 gallon tank and i really want a ghost shrimp! there cheap 33 cents! :)

  • When you feed your tetras do they swim to the surface to eat? My tetras (neon and cardinal) just hover around mid to lower and wait for the flakes to sink.

  • Guys just chill

I think he did a good job

I mean you can't hav a perfect tank

Atleast he's not one of those people that put bettas in half gallon tank

He atleast cares bout his fish

  • Hey could I have 5 xray tetras a ghost shrimp and a female betta in a 10 gallon?

  • @TheMike4020 NO

  • @zezimadaan Then why do you have SEVEN tetras in a FIVE gallon with a betta keeping in mind that neons are more active than xrays?

  • @TheMike4020 Yep easily

  • @TheMike4020 yes you can.

  • @TheMike4020

    Yes!

  • tetras really are too big even for a ten gallon. they're very active!

  • Please do upgrade as soon as possible. A 5 gallon is really fully stocked by the betta and the ghost shrimp. It would have been better to leave the neon tetras out as the tank is too small for them.

  • You have to keep tetra's in a 20 gallon tank. You should NOT keep them in a 5 gallon tank!!!

  • god my 5gal looks so much smaller than that because for some reson the designer thought a pentagon was a better idea so it looks so much more crammed in mine :(

  • it basically is a 5 gallon with all those decorations

  • Too many fish!

  • my betta started killing my neons.... had to give them away(male n female)..Y???

  • I think going back to your 10 gallon or 15 gallon will be a lot better for the fishies or just keep the betta there. =D

  • "La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin" by Claude Debussy

  • Why'd you downsize? Aren't large tanks EASIER to maintain since there'd be more water for diffusion and all that?

  • @jayngfet0 Very true that larger tanks are easier to maintain in terms of water quality and prevention of disease. I was referring to the upkeep and maintenance that is much easier on a 5 gallon vs a 55 gallon.

  • @skimstr One more question, don't Neon's usually harass Betta's? I've heard stories of them nipping at fins and what not.

    It's a nice tank, I'm just a huge nitpicker.

  • @jayngfet0

I've never had an issue with my bettas living with neons. They all seem to get along just fine.

  • @goldeneye3265 I have a tank with 2 neon tetras, 2 zebra danios, 1 Chinese algae eater, and 1 male crowntail betta. I feed them tetracolor tropical fish flakes, and all of those fish have been alive for about 2 months now

  • How did you add the fish in the tank? All at once? Or the betta first, then one by one tetras?

  • ya i put 2 beon tetras in my tank and they were dead in 2hours and i have a 50 watt 2-15 tetra water heater

  • @SuperJersh Probably from stress. You need at the very least FIVE neons and they require ten gallons of water for themselves.

  • i put neon tetra's in my tank and they died within hours ;(

  • hey man great tank.. was wondering, do those ghost shrimp distribute alot of waste? are they easy to maintain? i'm in the process of setting up my first 10 gallon tank with my 1 betta and this gave me some really nice ideas! again nice tank!

  • Can u feed tetras and bettas the same food or do u need separate food for each one tell me what food

  • holy hell upgrading to a 55 gallon tank!! DAMN!!!! i like ur voice though... haha and ur fish are adorable! im thinking of getting two betta gilrls and some neon.

  • What do you call that log.?

Also were did you get it.?

I really like your fish tank it's so beautiful.

  • @misskc96 The log is called Driftwood, and if you live near a beach, that's where you can find a lot of driftwood. If you don't live near a beach, at pet stores they have mock driftwood in all shapes and sizes for low cost. If you go on Petsmart.com and search 'driftwood' you'll get results

  • you have a very classy set up i got bored with my fish have a couple of neons mollys so i put in a quarter size red slider turtle and floating dock

  • how much did you buy this for

  • can you put algea eaters in with bettas???

  • @thePapermaster1234 Yeah, just not the Chinese ones. They eventually get aggressive. Don't know much about the Siamese ones, I think they're okay. Plecos are cool, very hardy, but they get big. Oto Cats are my favorite, the cheapest and prolly the best choice with a betta. Only problem is, they're the least hardy and the territorial nature of the betta doesn't help.

  • Very nice tank mate, but I think is a little ovestocked for a 5 gallons volume.

  • wow that betta looks very sad and its tail looks eaten up

  • @MrAndrewMitreski thats how crowntail bettas tails look like

  • hey i was wndering how many ghost shrimp can you put with a betta

  • hey i was wndering how many ghost shrimp can you put with a betta

  • simple but nice - if u got rid of the betta u could probably get away with another small shoal of a different type of tetra---i would reccomend platinums or black neons...i have always thought its best to keep fish from the same part of the world- wat u have there is south american/asian!

  • You should only have the betta in there. Theres not enough room for the rest.

  • Comment removed

  • whats the ghost shrimp for

  • i as wondering if you know what kind of fishes i can put with a betta fish? ^_^

  • I think that your tank is pretty cool. Thanx for showing

  • do you keep that fluorescent bulb on at all times? Does it impact water temperature along with the heater?

also, where did you find the lid for the tank? All of the rectangular tanks I see at my local pet stores are lidless.

  • @michaeloreillyrice ok i did research on the bettas to put both sexes together is ok to breed but if you put them together after the breeding will cause them to fight they need separate aquariums

  • everyone knows thats a 10 gallon tank. but, nice video.

  • Where did you get the shrimps?

  • Very nice tank! I love the driftwood. You're water is so clear with it. I've heard that it driftwood tends to tint the water a bit. Looks great! Cheers!

  • @ smitty cat ever herd of how to introduce them to the tank

  • I'm totally copying this tank right now

  • ARE THOSE LIVE OR FAKE PLANTS? PLEASE REPLY AND WHERE CAN I FIND THAT HOOD?

  • Im going to make my tank just like yours! also where did you get the drift wood?

  • Hi,
