@ZakkiOrichalcum also, this is being made entirely in Construct Classic, which is an excellent piece of free game making software, you can find out more about it by going to scirra.com
@ZakkiOrichalcum I'm not sure, as I came across Construct before I'd heard of Game Factory or MMF2, all I know is that for someone like me, (that struggles with learning actual programming languages) it's a dream, plus free is a nice incentive too ;)
It's really innovative and you made quite good elements which could fit Discoman very well, one thing I noticed is that most of the sprites don't follow the NES limitations, but to be honest, I don't care, I like the look of this game!
Looks very cool so far. I hope this ends better than Megaman Forever and Rockman: Sparking to Hero (both of which were VERY promising Megaman rom hacks that were cancelled partway though).
@Ashanmaril Thank you, Brent and myself are looking into why Construct isn't looping the track properly, we've noticed this on all of the songs, we may need to find an alternate way of playback! Paul
The green "disco" guys are clearly just recycled enemies from a prior mega man game. If you were intended to make them disco-themed there should be a bit more editing/art involved. You can hardly see the headphones or discs, let alone signify them in casual play as a disco enemy.
I wounder if they could make it so that once Discoman has half health he can break the floor your standing on and have you jump on the disco floors so you don't fall.
I think the Disco Bat's seem a little off. If you're goong for a disco ball imitation enemy, I would use the Bubble Bat ripoffs from Mega Man 5 that shoot at you, since they seemed more metallic in the first place.
@bubblesishot46853 I haven't noticed those things myself, it might just be compression artifacts on the video, as the sprites came from a high quality sprite sheet from mega man III
For a video that is only 3 days old, and targetting such a niche market as retro mega man fans, I have to say that coming home to this sudden burst of subs and wonderful comments has literally given me goosebumps! It may not seem like much at the time, but every sub and every comment just gets us more and more fired up to keep working and finish this thing! So thank you again, and we'll try and keep vids coming up, please feel free to check out our production vlogs. They're random and fun! lol
If you need a spriter at some point in the future, I'd be willing to help with some small designs or any sort of enemy modifications. I'm really excited for this project and hope for the best :)
Yes, thank you again everyone! We'll get everything we can packed into this game. I'll finish up the tiles and music soon, so offer anything you'd think would be a great addition to the game! We'll look into the possibility of porting this to Mac!
Thanks everyone for their comments :) We are reading them all and want you all to be apart of the production, we are taking criticism very seriously, so thank you everyone and keep on following :)
I've always wanted to make my own Mega Man game, I just never knew how to go about it. I wont ask for an explanation but maybe a point in the right direction? I'd love to learn about this.
PS. I subbed. The game looks great so far! Keep up the great work.
@JimDrizzle Hi Jim, we are using construct for the engine for our megaman currently. It is free open source software, and does not require much in the way of programming knowledge. There is also some great tutorials online.
For sprites you can get sprite sheets online for free, and then just cut them as you need to.
@totodiletrainer001 Thanks for the praise totodiletrainer001, we appreciate it greatly :) We currently are not in need of programmers however thank you for the offer, and we will keep it in mind as our projects get larger!
If anything, i would suggest adding some dancing dudes in the background.
this is a disco! it should have people Dancing at the beat of the music!
probably some dancing robot masters cameos in that inaccessible room by the ladder?
also, i love how the graphics look in this one, also the music is pretty awesome (should be, again, disco should have awesome music), hoping to see this project finished~
@GandWatch Thanks for the criticism GandWatch, we are currently discussing adding dancing robot masters in the background, however we are trying to keep it as authentic an experience as possible to the originals (including the amount of colors that can be on screen based on the NES power) so we will have to see, however if we can make it work we will! coz its a great idea!
I like the idea also of having them in that separate room! I hope you wont be disappointed with the final product :)
I REALLY like the work you've done on this game so far. My only real complaint is that the Disco Midboss does very little. Maybe make him move a little more? Also, the level suffers from only having maybe 4 different enemy types. Perhaps change that as well. ;)
@TheKoopakirby Thanks for the comment TheKoopakirby. We are still working on more enemies so dont worry, their will be more! we are working on it :) Also with the miniboss we will see how we can make it more interesting (maybe the platforms to get to they eyes alternate on or off or something).
Thanks for the praise :) we will keep everyone updated as much as possible!
@ThorangeNova We think you'll be satisfied with the level designs after further testing. Since this is a fairly early demo, our crew has a lot of game testing to do after damage implementation and enemy placement are finished.
Quite impressive seeing this in action ;) I'll be interested to see where it goes from here. The music and stage graphics are very nicely done, and I like how the dance floors work as a trap. Quite clever interpretation ^_^
just test for an object above him while sliding to decide whether or not to respond to the jump command.
metroidfannumber1 2 months ago
In the final game you should have a roahm mode where Megaman can and will only have 1 bar of life then it will be like roahm's perfect runs
Incathelizard 5 months ago
In that boss room use the falling platforms to drop megaman on speakers that launch him up.
Kenik13 6 months ago
I have an idea for the disco ball miniboss.
An attack that shoots 2 mirrors, then they home at mega man for about 5 seconds and then dissappear.

I can't wait to play this game once it's finished!!!

P.S. What system are you using to make this? It looks like Game Factory or Multimedia fusion 2 to make it? Or is it something special?

@brenthamel Cool! I checked it out. And it's scarily similar to the MMF2/GF interface. I wonder if it was inspired by it? Pretty cool though :D

need more original robot masters, as far as i know there is around 3 disco men, so maybe disco man's new name could be fever man imo

The title screen music IS awesome, but I think it either needs more fluid loop, or it should just stop at the end.

Hey, in the room that might have the enemy in it, after the midboss, would you consider adding in Eddy?

there is something weird about Megaman's sprite...hopefully that will be fixed in the final?
bubblesishot46853 7 months ago
@bubblesishot46853 what looks weird about it? If you don't mind me asking

@brenthamel
The front arm seems a bit short, there is something odd with his front eye (maybe that's just me), and the back leg seems short as well.

IMO in the room after the midboss there should not be an enemy as there usually is not an enemy after one rather than a checkpoint

I'd be happy to help. I have a bit of experience in programming, and I'll do anything to help.
But if you don't need it, thats fine. Just give me a buzz if you do.
Cheers, and good luck.
