Man how is it that the AI will for the most part miss other AI, like a KI 84 missing a Dauntless but if I am maneuvering like crazy they snipe my cockpit and get a head shot? Does not happen all the time but I have noticed that happening.
Good stuff. I've been playing '46 for about 2 yrs. now. I play on full realism settings except I leave engine settings on automatic. I also turn engine overheat off. Would like to try online sometime but AI still entertains me to this day.
Wtf is with fuel mixture... and prop pitch, i think there just there for you to kill urself, for instence, while occupied with prop pitch, chasing a fast fighter that was faster then me even though i had full throttel... a freakin b 25, ya B-25!!!!!!!! came behind me, shot 1, ONE!!! bullet, and killed the pilot, and his difficulty was ROOKIE!!!!!
@shutup735 Fuel Mixture can be adjusted for long distance trips at low or high altitudes. If you're flying at a slower speed, you can decrease the fuel richness of the aircraft to save fuel over a long period of time. At high altitudes, or in dogfights, it's advisable to leave the fuel lever in the "Full Rich" or "Auto-Rich" position (all the way forward). Prop-Pitch only determines whether your aircraft takes a Huge bite of air or a miniscule bite of air.
@shutup735 You can use it in synchronization with the fuel mixture lever to save fuel while climbing or regular flight. Really, you ought to google reading materials for both so that you better understand what they're for. You'll also hear the term "Auto-Rich" which I believe is only a modern design implemented in Cessna's and such. The engine can automatically regulate fuel flow. I don't think World War II aircraft did this, though I'm not certain.
@shutup735 Anyway, you just have to find an equilibrium between the throttle, fuel mix, and prop pitch. Once you do you can increase fuel efficiency, and decrease engine wear by a large margin. I've completed Ground School (Real Ground School for Licensed Pilots) but don't have the money to afford flying. Funny, most people don't know you can use a turn coordinator, and in exactly two minutes, you will fly a complete circle, at any airspeed lol; and every plane has one too.
This game is really hard if you are rookie and you don't understand england well. The problem is that I don't undertand the controls and i don't know how to change them because i haven't played flying sims before. Actually it is my brothers game, and when he putted the controls to my I accidentaly reseted them. It would be helpful if there would be some kind of tutorial of controls. It would nice if Icould change them myself.
It depends of distance between you and target and his course and speed. Overall rule is to aim higher (couse of gravity) and in front of target (couse of his speed)
Why cant I ever catch up to my enemy, no matter what aircraft Im using? I also make sure I am not using energy. It gets me mad that the Ai catch up to my enemy but I cant at all.
@NJG26Cappy do you use the aircrafts real operating manual recommended settings (plus some for kicks, 'cause youre engine is single use only) for prop pitch or what?
@LethalHobo , you can adjust prop pitch and mixture depending on plane model- for the sim planes. Some planes you cannot adjust but for the most part you can.
@NJG26Cappy so the prop pitch is the angle of the airscrew ?? sorry. but im german and i have to ask cuz its not my mothertongue .... and why does my Me-262 doesnt get above 200 mph ?! but i just installed a patch so this problem might be solved already. didnt try it since .... thx anyway
I have this problem as well, seems like I am always going slow as fuck, no matter what I do, and it's pissing me the fuck off. Not to mention I can't seem to keep the rudders from flying all over the fucking place, which is irritating.
The same thing used to happen to me. Go into options then input. Then switch the box from from pitch to yaw. Most likely everything will be on 100. Set the first one to ten, second to 20, 3rd to 30 and so on. Then you're all set.The reason you're going so slow is because of the rudder, When the plane keeps yawing, it turns broadside into the wind, slowing you down.
@partyboy99 Don't set the cowl flaps all the way open, don't use 100% fuel in the tanks, don't set prop at default, if the plane allows it, use a 2nd stage supercharger(only above 15,000 ft). Each plane has it's best setting, so learn a specific plane first, don't jump around too much.
when i use the jet mig i find that if i start to climb and my enemy follows me after a few seconds of climbing he stalls out first and then when i see that he dives i dive after him and get the kill
Sorry Cappy... MiG3U vs Bf109G6AS is one of the easiest fights you could make. :(
Bf109G6AS is much faster at all altitudes below 7500m (how many times you do fight above 7500m in FB/PF sim series???)
Bf109G6AS has MUCH BETTER rate of climb (ROC) at all the speeds and below altitude=10.000m (how many times you do fight above 10.000m in FB/PF sim series???)
Bf109G6AS is MUCH MORE agile - it has lower turn time till speed 340km/h except using landing flaps, but you still can use higher climb rate to maintain tactical advantage.
MiG is called "fire lighter" because it burns from one good fart. You don't need 20mm cannon.
And you shown us a fight when you started from his 6 position. So he had no chances AT ALL. Even if MiG made "scissors manoeuver" and you didn't follow him you just climb and get back to boom'n'zoom him. And you have in your Bf109 MUCH MORE AMMO to make AIMING TRAINING on MiG. Please show us Your G6AS fight vs La-7 played by middle skilled RED player of virtual front.
Lol you need to do that with just about any plane you dogfight. The Faster turning planes like the lagg, you need to use a combination of throttle back and flaps. I can out turn any plane in il2 with a 109 g... (except a byplane lol). And if he does outurn you you need to know what to do get on his six... Often pull up and do a drop turn on him works(not always the best solution mind)
Instead it can blow thru with a single strafing style run, extend using its energy advantage, come around for another pass. As long as it doesn't let the enemy drag it into a turning fight and jinks around a bit during head-on passes, it can do just fine.
Would be much interesting between Bf109G and Jak 9 or a late LaGG. It is kind of easy to outfly any Mig with a 109 F or G. Nice vid and showing it from the outside makes it easy to see what is happening. Upload more vids like this.

They have a magical auto trim. They are always trimmed perfectly which increases their speed at helps them keep energy.

not to mention prop - If you use manual prop you get alot more out of the plane than the default autoprop
