They tried Andres Bonifacio of treason by an illegally set up tribunal and murdered him. Emilio Aguinaldo therefore is a murderer. Hence, he set up the tradition of corruption in the Philippine government. But, since his government is illegal anyway then corruption really started after Manuel L. Quezon.

Emilio Aguinaldo became a self proclaimed head of an illegal government (an unrecognized state by any other country) who made illegal laws which was not recognized by the entire country. They tried Andres Bonifacio of treason by an illegally set up tribunal and murdered him. Emilio Aguinaldo therefore is a murderer. Hence, he set up the tradition of corruption in the Philippine government. But, since his government is illegal anyway then corruption really started after Manuel L. Quezon.

Correction: The event was re-titled as The Filipino-American War of 1898. The US claimed it was an insurrection only because the Philippines was not yet formally established as a free nation, so when the Katipunan rose up against Spain they were considered insurectos or insurgents, when the US took over the country, it was claimed that this was a continuance of the insurgency and not a country at war with another.

Aguinaldo would collaborate with anyone who can keep him in a high standing. He collaborated with the Spanish (yes he was never a real revolutionary), the Americans, the Japanese during WWII. There was never a Spanish-American at least in the Philippines, instead the Philippines and other territories was just being sold by the Spanish to the Americans with Aguinaldo a cosignatory.
