I just saw this video today. Quite moving, as Les Mis is my favorite musical performance, having seen it several times on stage and on CD. However, Les Miserables is NOT about the French Revolution but about characters starting from 1815 and ending in a short student and youth uprising occurring around 1832, long after the Revolution and Napoleon's reign. Read the novel by Victor Hugo before you comment.
@Moratorium Actually, that's me, and I've never had plastic surgery. There's something wrong with you, making comments like that about people. You must be a very sad person.
I have been lucky enough to see Les Mis' 3 times now,& it is the epitome of musical theatre. From the opening overture to the rousing closing number it is 'on the edge of your seat' experience. No fidgeting in the seats,no annoying rustling of sweet-wrappers,or slurping of mouths around toffees,(why DO theatres sell those damn things, lol),just utter enjoyment of the greatest show on earth!
Do you hear the people sing? Singing the song of angry men? It is the music of a people Who will not be slaves again! When the beating of your heart Echoes the beating of the drums There is a life about to start When tomorrow comes! Will you join in our crusade? Who will be strong and stand with me? Beyond the barricade Is there a world you long to see? Then join the fight That will give you the right to be free... Will you give all you can give (…) Will you stand up and take your chance?
I have always loved this song because of how inspiring it is in that it represents a people breaking loose of the bondages of goverment....It shoud be the theme for the "Tea Party Movement" in America taking place now
yes, its nice, but its no the son of the end, its the song in the middle, when one of the revolutionary, with his words gives to his friends the strengh to fight.
Yeah, I love this song, but I don't like it when people take it and use it for their own political campains. :P
*sings along* "Will you join in our crusade? Who will be strong and stand with me? Somewhere beyond the barricade, is there a world you long to see? Do you hear the people sing? Say, do you hear the distant drums? It is the futer that they bring when tomarrow comes!" ^^
this is the reprise. The song is sang in the first act at the bar.(if you know what i mean great) What they sang, is what is sung at the end. NOT COMPLAINING. just clarifying. both sets of lyrics are fantastic.
I had no idea they performed this at Wembley at 1996! I'm amazed and agree with all the people who called it the "Freedom Anthem". It's probably the most beautiful and inspiring song I've ever heard.
