It deff. can grow I'm (dominican/puerto rican) and I know for sure my mom has afro hair and her hair grew long and healthy. not too long but long enough to call it long! thats cause she only conditioned it!! she stopped perming once she realized what it was doing to her hair. So trust me girls your air can deff. grow. just stop those stupid weaves and perms and even relaxers! yea your hairs gonna look ugly for a while atleast a few months to gain back all its beauty but its deff. worth it.

I find the fact that so many black women refuse to admit that their hair just DOES NOT grow as long as others interesting. Why the denial on something so blatantly obvious?

White women wear weave as a choice. When a white woman's hair is short THAT'S THE WAY THEY CUT IT. They wear weave when they want a different look until their hair grows back long (which, at some point, it will). Meanwhile, the average sista will never see the length that the average white women calls short.

@knottrippin It is because of wearing protective styles that I was able to retain as much length....trust me....protective styles are no excuse....why?...because when you wear a protective style for a number of weeks....it means less manipulation to your natural hair while it grows underneath....less manipulation=less damage and breakage. I live in a hot/tropical climate and wearing protective styles protects my hair from UV rays from the sun which dry and damage hair. Its part of the cure.

All I have to say is... trim trim trim!!! I've been both relaxed and natural and my hair grew very long with both. Because I trim every 3-4 months.split ends are damaging get rid of them. oh and MASK IT! at least once a week.

The reason is the texture, also it is individual. Some people's hair grows faster then others, and can get longer than others can. Doesn't matter black or white. There are white people that cannot get their hair grow beyond a certain length too, so it's not the texture just texture only. Though, the texture, or structure of black people's hair is more prone to breakage. Yes, and so is dry hair, for both.

Just an FYI the ORS Mayo is NOT suppose to used as a daily conditioner. It is not water base moisturizer. It is used to deep condition your hair. It is a light/medium protein in it. Too much can break your hair. You need to balance protein with moisture.

You need to use something that is lighter than that! I hope you changed your moisturizer.

Just wanted to say, I personally can't wash my hair everyday. And if I did, it would become very very dry, as my mother used to do shuch when I was little. And it was crazy.

But anyway, I am only able to wash it every 1 1/5 weeks. Black people just have a different texture hair and washing it so often washes out the moisture that it needs.
