  • Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain. And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of life, your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy; and you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields. And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your grief.

  • I'm impressed he's quoting Kahlil Gibran. BTW, how popular is Gibran in the USA? & how many know that he's an Arab American?

  • Deep :'( go huey u have nerves

  • When I first saw this scene I teared up a lil. Cuz god damn that shit was deep

  • It didn't rhyme... that boy got on my nerves...

  • NIgga did I just catch you bein' deep?!?! *SLAP*

  • your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. Even as the stone of the fruit may break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain. And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy; And you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields. And you would watch in serenity through the winters of your grief.

  • @Drose4president much of your pain is self-chosen. It is the bitter potions by which the physician within you heals your sick self. Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility: For his hand, through heavy and hard, is guided by the tender hand of the unseen, and the cup he brings, though it burns your lips, has been fashioned of the clay which the potter has moistened with his own sacred tears.

    - Kahlil Gibran.

No one better reply "nigga hush" at me!

  • It didnt ryme.

  • It's a damn cartoon people. Stop acting like he's a real kid.

  • @Lunarmoon67 im pretty sure we all know that but theres real people out in the world who are that kind of real.i can name 5 off the topa my head. there my bff, allysa,my bf, richard,my best chica friend, haley,my mom,and my brota. wait thats 6. just in MY LIFE!!! what about the world?huh?

  • @Lunarmoon67 he's a character of a story, and even if he isn't real, the story teller is real, and your emotion and understanding of the story is real. He as a character also inspires real emotions in much more people than you probably have in your life, so in a way he's more real than you are.

  • ....

  • I always got compared to him...I never heard of him so I looked up his name. Now i'm proud to be compared to Huey lol :)

  • Goes to show how much "shit" huey's been through to know this at such a young age.

  • Huey reminds me of Boonaa Mohammed sometimes... He's an amazing character and the Boondocks is a great show with a lot of real knowledge even though it's "just" a cartoon..

  • i dont see how someone can be smart for simply stating a quote, but hey, thats how most of you kids are.

  • @regaldrifter watch the show, an episode or two because i think he's smarter than some teachers and adults maybe you too cause ur so ignorant and don't pay attention to my bad grammar but i think you'd undertnd it better like that

  • @shanshanshan23 im not trying to criticize huey, im critizing how people can believe intelligence for reasons that have no reason for it.

  • @regaldrifter sounded like it

  • @regaldrifter its not because he knows the quote that makes him smart but he can comprehend its meaning and use it in a situation that applies i guess a good correlation to that would be how a scientist can use an equation in whatever situation he needs by identifiying how its used get it

  • @rysiskailepai but all he did was just say it. nothing more, he never explained it.

  • @regaldrifter he doenst have to explain it by using it (and using it in the right situation) he dispalys an understanding of the quote and its meaning

  • @rysiskailepai

    "huey say something deep!".

yeah, very fitting. more like random.

  • @regaldrifter it applies because the grandfather at the moment felt bad becaus of how he broke his relationship with moe and the quote is saying learn from your mistakes basically

  • @regaldrifter Are you for serious?

  • the quote wasn't random. if you'd watch the episode it wasn't...i doubt u did so ya but anyway, the quote was baisically saying "people make mistakes.just learn to correct them and learn from them.mistakes aren't made just because were human .there made so we can learn from them."

  • @regaldrifter The right words spoken is like a golden apple on a silver tree. THAT quote means that the the perfect words said at the right time is like peanut butter and jelly. they go good with some stuff, but together there perfect.

  • hmpf....didnt rhyme

  • whoa, gibran and I share the same birthday lol

  • Huey is out to make a change in the world he lives in and he shows nothing will bring him down to do it

  • I ain't got all day boy, say something deep. XD

  • didn't rhyme

  • @echoe87 its not supposed to rhyme

  • @DeaflyBlind no thats what the kid with the afro says after he finishish

  • Hes not just my fav boondocks character hes my favorite cartoon character of all time.

  • he's such a smart sweetie who can kill a nigga :-/

  • I love the look the adults have afterward. Adults show their true colors when kids outshine them lol.

  • Be deep Huey...

    Balls deep

  • "hope is irrational" huey is my favorite boondocks character because of his skills, and the fact that he's such a realist.this kid is 10, and i believe he's smarter then 3/4 of the world.

he would make a great president.

  • -didn't rhyme...

  • what is the naem of the peom

  • @babyellabay "On Pain"

  • Yeah, Huey the whitest black guy! We love U boy!

(I know That was gay, but anyway)

  • @gergely007 "The white black guy" how does him being educated make him white. You do NOT understand this show it is obviously outside of your ignorance gtfo.

  • @flmae46

No man U just yupping all here, absolutely wrong.

I appreciate this level of perspective what Huey has, more than anything else. He's a real fine kid.

  • Guys, just because the character is 10 doesn't mean the guy that writes his lines are :P Give him some cred instead of the cartoon character xD

  • Thats how I want my son to be at 15.lol

  • Riley can't be that deep... so he disliked

  • “Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self, so therefore, trust the physician and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility." - Khalil Gibran

  • Shit had a few miss spelled words "same" " creater"

  • I feel like I think the same way heuy does Wichita in some ways is the dame way the created thinks

  • Brilliant!

  • I ain't got all day...be DEEP!

  • @Netherwolf6100 he was a Real Person. Huey Freeman is named after the Revolutionary Huey P Newton of The Black Panthers. Through this cartoon i feel like I know the real Huey. :| and damn i miss real men like him.

  • You can almost see how far over their heads that went

  • I love Huey. he reminds me of myself.

  • your pain is the breaking of the shell, that encloses your understanding is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals its sick self. Therefore trust the physician and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility.....-Khalil Kabran

  • @SmooveLikeButter10 it pretty much sounds like kahlil wanted to tell us to look into ourselves "the physician and the remedy" and understand tht the pain of the information is a shell thts breaking so u can now understand.

almost seems like a message to the grievers

srry if im way off, i just went off my first interpretation of what i read

  • @homevidman1000

what i am geting form it is that your pain is the one and only thing thing that allows us to truly understand. if my parent pass away and my friend tryed to reach out and help me out by saying " i understand what your going through" id know they didnt know because theyre parents have not passed, they dont understand because they have not experience the pain. Pain will shatter hardheadedness "shell" that keeps us from reciving knowledge from an event. that is how i see it

  • Gibran is pointing out that pain is the magical elixir we are all searching for to cure our problems. The physician within all of us - which is our desire for security/permanence and from that lies our yearning for good health, financial security, peace, love, etc - knows that pain, or facing and overcoming it to be exact, is the remedy to our sicknesses.

  • o_o

  • im not very smart, but I think what he's saying is the truth is like medicine, it may not always taste sweet, but it will heal you, right?

  • lol

  • Didn't rhyme.

  • If Huey was a real person, he would bring about a great revolution.

  • HUEY, BE DEEP!

  • FUCK YOU

  • Awesome, a ten year old! He's smarter than most adults.

  • @Mokumokuren13

He's also the figment of Aaron Mcgruder's imagination... it would be more profound if Huey actualy existed... We can only dream eh?

  • @EzraPlatnum does it not seem likely that Aaron himself is basically huey? what is boondocks if not an attempt to bring some change to the world through satire? it seems to me that the intent of the show closely matches huey's desires and huey's challenges may be very similar to things the creator experienced.

  • hes smarter than most people.

  • @Mokumokuren13 most? ok....

  • @Mokumokuren13 You pretty much described southpark in a nutshell

  • i like this one.

  • STRAIGHT OUT OF THE PROPHET!!!! LOVE IT!!!! HUEY FREEMAN FOR PRESIDENT!!!

  • @MrFrankTheTank42 you do realize that he's a retired domestic terrorist right

  • @crackernerd101 lol nice

  • @crackernerd101 HE'S COMIN OUT OF RETIREMENT IN SEASON FOUR (if there's a season four)

  • @crackernerd101 Khalil Gibran, a "retired domestic terrorist?!!?" The man's been dead for almost 70 years. Name one thing about him that would suggest that he was some kind of "domestic terrorist." Or were you talking about Huey, a cartoon character?

  • @MiketheCabbie he was pretty obviously referring to huey, who has described himself in other episodes as a retired domestic terrorist. check the comment crackernerd was replying to.

  • @drone81 Yeah, I didn't exactly figure that out until a couple days ago. Y'see, I don't watch TV, and haven't seen the newer episodes of the Boondocks until they were released on DVD this week.

So, what I'm trying to say is: Whoops, my bad.

  • @MrFrankTheTank42 its not actually straight out of the prophet skips a few lines

  • Its really Deep...Love It!
