  • rx-8's have 232 hp when they are stick...auto's only make about 190, look up your facts!

  • this is a wankle rotory engine

  • Automatic??? Ugh...

  • Fucking Bad Sound -_-

    Greetz from Germany

  • Sounds like dentist drill

  • I must say in terms of engineering a 1.3L that produces 232HP is admirable, but the engines themselves are flawed in the design and wear out easily and lose HP rapidly because people just rev them out and abuse them

My Punto Evo Abarth Essesse is a 1.368L (Google if unsure) that produces 170HP i have had it tuned to 239BHP, the engine is a masterpiece and better designed than these WANKEL types

Very high maintenance and i would advise actually learning a bit about them before buying one

  • Anybody know the name of the song that comes on the radio?

  • @YouGotRolled1337 Let me love you by Mario Your welcome

  • how the heck can a mazda rx8 have 200bhp engine when its a 1.3l

  • @MarkieBhoy17 You do need to rev it high in order to get it :P

  • @Intechdude300 tht explanes it

  • @MarkieBhoy17 It's a Wankel Rotary engine.

It has not pistons and valves like common petrol and diesel engines, but a series of rotors which rotate instead of going up and down.

It's form and components make it able to reach a higher power with low displacement, but it tends to wear out more rapidly than a normal engine, though.

  • @MarkieBhoy17 2x1.3 ;)

  • the first thing i would do, is throwing away all this plastic cover shit, so i could see some technics

  • This is why I NEVER let people touch my RX8. You MUST wait for the engine to heat up before reving it. It is very bad on rotor engines to rev a cold motor. Also, you need to let it get heated up before shutting it off. If you don't the high amount of fuel injected for cold running is still in the engine. Then you add the very large burst of fuel for starting a rotor engine. This leads to flooding. But, this engine sounds like it's starting to die anyway.

  • @cbremer83 Actually many of these are towed through the auction lanes with seized engines, smoking, burning rich while warm right through the auction lane, slipping transmissions, rough idles. And so many manual versions with under 50K having a bad clutch. Even when this car ran through the auction lane where it had roughly 30 minutes of runtime, it still spewed the same rich burning scent as it did before I revved it.

  • @Intechdude300 Sounds like neglect and/or abuse. Rotors need more attention than piston engine. Most people do not get that. You have to top the oil every fill up, need to change the oil every 3K miles. No later because half the oil stays in the rotor housing and oil cooler, so it's only half changed every time. Then the temp issues because of the tight tolerances. Many owners don't get it. Those like me do and get many trouble free miles.

  • @cbremer83 thanks for the advice. I am newbie and was thinking of buying rotary engined car for my first car. What advice can you give to me? I wanted to know this as well: How many mpg do you get from your car? btw I am particularly intested in rotary based cars like Rx8.

  • @FrapsYou I would not recommend a rotary for your first car unless you grew up on them. They are very fun but very high maintenance. If you are not on top of things all the time, it will cost you big, as in new engine big. Also, you MUST run premium fuel. My RX8 really only runs it's best with 93 octane in it. Plus I average about 15-17mpg. Not good things for a first car. Get a Honda or some other car that can take the "learning abuse". Then get on later. You will appreciate it more.

  • @cbremer83 The car is previously heated 01:05 you gotta give away your RX8 :D

  • ur not paying for the gas aren't you ?!

  • @hammoudy1300 Fortunately not lol :P

  • Don't like the sound, my 2L I4 Focus sounds better. If you want a good engine sound, buy an Alfa

  • My Grandma owns one, lol

  • Nice sound!

  • So far my RX8 is getting on average 22mpg city. There are ways to drive to save gas in this car, and ways to burn it and get 15mpg. Besides anyone in an SUV, or anything like that around the same year 2004, gets way less mpg than the 8.

  • I'm 6'2 220 and my 04 fits me fine?

  • how do you like ur at rx8 dont u think its toos low?

  • @edoloman24

It was at auction. Well I'm 6'1 @ 173 lbs & i didnt feel too comfortable in it.

  • @Intechdude300 let me rewrite what i said

how do you like your automatic transmission rx8 dont you think it is too slow?

  • @edoloman24

Well now you're talkin lol. Well like I mentioned this car was at auction & I never drove it. But since this is a 6 speed auto, Shifts ought to be short & quick

  • @Intechdude300 but it shifts right at 75000rpm where on the manual transmission you dont have a rev limiter so you shift perfectly at 89000 the manual has 40 more horsepower so i was just asking

  • the RX-8 is nice, but the engine is definetly better suited to a Manual Transmission (These have Virturally no low end torque)

i've also heard the rotary wankels burn oil by design and are gas guzzlers!

  • @form109 yes its normal for these engines that they burn oil like a 2 stroke.

  • I wish it sounded like the engine in a Mazda 787B

  • my little 1.8 nissan pulsar vector n13 turbo revs higher than that haha

  • "Burning real rich". What are you basing that on exactly? I noticed you went to check under the hood, but "there was not much to see... It's all covered up".

  • @blaineyboots

As in the fumes were just too strong even at idle speeds, & i smoked a bit the whole time. Car was started up earlier too.

  • Lol this RX8 is an automatic. What a fail.

  • *your*

  • Good job fucking you engine mate

  • @Madfanta360

Not my car or problem to even care. Nor shall it be your concern either. I wont ever do it to my own car just so you know.

  • @Intechdude300 Just get annoyed when i see someone damaging a remarkable piece of ingenuity

  • Sad to say its a pussymatic woops i mean automatic.

  • I HATE THOSE STUPID ENGINE COVERS. they hide the sexiness that is the engine.

  • my leaf blower sounds better... even on the low setting

  • You are gonna flood ur engine one day...

  • wow I hope that engine blows up. You're retarded, you don't rev an engine that high when it's freezing cold...

Obviously it'll sound like shit when it's cold.

And to be honest it barely burns oil and diesel engines burn more in comparison to this.

  • @yourmotherrules

I've started many of these warm before & really no difference, many burning rich & blueish smoke which is oil. A battery check / gas check was performed on it by employees so this car did idle for about 5 minutes over an hour before I started. Started a Super Duty diesel and I didn't even feel the fumes nor was there any smoke, whatever can it be. Rotary engines are tough for high revs & kinda hard to blow. Whos saying it sounds like Shit? & you have no view of the smoke

  • @Intechdude300

first how do you know burning real rich? you seeing black smoke?

second, a normal rotary wont make blue smoke unless one of the oil control rings is passing oil into the housing.

thrid, you should not rev it when cold which causes most of the stationary gear bearing wear.

a good way is to keep the rpm below 4000 till the coolant temperature reaches normal temperature.

  • rotary sux

  • my echo blower sounds better. these at least look good

  • its wankel not wakel

  • sounds just as good as a weed trimmer but the weed trimmer has a deaper sound LOL

  • @90Mrknowitall

R U kidding, a 4 Stroke Trimmer we've got sounds more kick ass than this when the string runs out. And the trimmer literally doesn't burn as rich too.

  • @Intechdude300 LOL thats sad dude!!!

  • @Intechdude300 LOL too funny dude!! hahha

  • Impressive output for sure, its just too bad the Rotary engine is a gas guzzler and oil burner... Also I read a lot of owner saying this car is completely unreliable and a huge money pit lol

  • @xoquixxoqafxo

Yep, They're not that reliable at all they do guzzle like a V8. I've seen many with a seized engine, smoking ( This 1 was a little ), & have a habit of making the same rich smell of a Carburated engine from the 70. Two of the above with this car.

  • @Intechdude300 the smell when the engine is cold is due to the catalytic converter not up temperature and you reving the nuts off it cold dumping a lot of gas into the engine. you smelling 70's cars smell bc they didnt catalytic converter back then.

  • @sunnyjason

A strong long lasting scent of unburned fuel that can irritate your eyes, not that brief scent most cars make at cold starts. Here, it was from startup, b4 reving & even after. And I would say the scent was stronger than that of a 70's car.

  • @Intechdude300

cuz your engine was still cold and the ECU is adjusting to rich mixture.

also catalyst converter failures are more common on rotary engines because they generally run rich.
