  • They are wearing the same suits that they wear in Mad Men and the same hair cuts.

  • The second theme is my favorite !

  • Question: Who was the cooler duo: Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin or James West and Artemus Gordon?

  • Great show from the 60's.....Open Channel D.....

  • The COOLEST SPY BOOM TV THEME MUSIC EVER__BAR NONE ! ! !

  • Anyone notice that MGM was too cheap to shoot a new title sequence for third season?

  • Terrific post overalll...thanks for putting it together

  • The first theme was great. However the second was a quantum improvement: it cooks and the flute is super cool. The third also cooks but without the flute it loses its super cool effect, although the organ works well and the brief sax part is super. The fourth is really just a pedestrian arrangement of versions 2 and 3 -- nothing special. Remember at the time feeling disappointed by it: why would they bother taking the best TV theme music of all time and render it less interesting?

  • @musiclover59 Considering that the last season was equally the least interesting, can you really be surprised?

  • Unite Network Command For Law And Enforcement. U.N.C.L.E.

  • i like david Mccallum is currently on ncis plays duckie

  • I rember this at my aunts every week when I was about 12 great series

  • "Open channel D"

  • Leo G = Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp!

  • Analysis of all 4 themes is as follows

    1st concetrates upon a ( timpany section & trumpet ) -

2nd concentrates upon what seems to be a (double base or base guitar) -

    3rd concentrates upon ( Organ & Base) -

4th concentrates on (elctro synth and brass) -

now if they had taken the timpany section combined it with the organ and brass wow that would have been some theme

no 1 on the whole seems best

  • The first season theme song is my favorite. I remember that when I was a little boy in the 1960's.

  • 2nd season's theme is my favourite. 3rd season sounds like they just added a bunch of stuff and made it all too congested, but fixed it for 4th season. I way prefer the main melody with the subdued flute (2nd season). Much more mysterious.

  • Updating my previous comment, I now know the four season-opening episode titles, which are as follows:

    Season 1: The Vulcan Affair

Season 2: Alexander the Greater Affair (the first two-parter)

Season 3: The Her Master's Voice Affair

Season 4: The Summit Five Affair

  • The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Cool then, cool now!

  • @srb9 Yes......But 'The Avengers' was/is better!!!!!

  • I think the second theme is when it becomes the recognisable tune that we all know. And is my favourite although the first one is the most exciting! And doesn't Rip Torn look young?

  • My fave is the scene with Napolean Solo looking smug behind the bullet-proof glass!

  • I like the original theme by the late Jerry Goldsmith from the first season-1964.

  • The original theme is the best with the dramatic opening and brass music.

  • Thanks for this. I always preferred the more understated season 2 theme with the piccolo lead.

  • @macthornberg :) :) :) Pretty sure it is a flute in the upper ranges...I remember figuring out how to play it back in the '70's...heck of a lot of fun :)

  • The fourth season's opening episode was called "The Summit Five Affair."

  • You gotta admit that Leo G. Carol looks like a chimp! LOL! 2:20

  • The second season MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. theme was always my favorite of the 4.

  • Thanks for posting this.

  • thanks , i wondered how many themes there were

  • I remember now that all the episodes were a "so and so Affair".

  • Unfortunately, I would have to agree with the previous comments; Hollywood just can't make a good remake of TV classics even if the original writers and creators handed them a script to work from. I now hope that they DON"T do a remake of U.N.C.L.E.!

  • I agree. The last few movie remakes of the TV shows from this time were pretty lousy. When i was a kid, all this secret spy stuff was pretty cool.

  • They won't. It was a different and special time. They can't capture that spirit again.

  • @williamkanegateshead So true, so true.

  • I hope that if they do make a new movie based on this classic spy show, The Man From UNCLE, i hope they do a better job with it than what they did to The Avengers!
