Ultima 9 was a game that was, sadly, ahead of it's time. When it came out, only a top end computer was able to handle the requirements.

Even all these years, I still say Ultima 6, though it was my first game, is one of the best RPG games. It was not until ES4: Oblivion till there came an RPG with such a world to match.

@WildBuck007 Many of the older companies are gone, but there are a lot good young ones. Look at all the talent that is showing up in eastern Europe. Games like The void, The witcher, King's bounty, Elven legacy, Majesty 2, Mount & blade. These are games that, instead of offering an instant gratification, like most western games, offers long term enjoyment.

The Quest... if only it could be more common that children go through it until they complete it. Alas, tis a fancy and little more in this day and age. Corruption, greed, pride... these things bury over the good that this series provided, especially in the 4th, 5th, and 6th incarnations. My children as well will follow the Way of the Avatar someday.

@TheodenN Yeah, reminds me of A Song of Ice and Fire. Unless you voer 18 and has a strong set of moral, like not going to war and not killing, the I suggest you read the series, it is VERY, VERY good. Just don't read spoilers, they'll ruin the whole book series.

I second that... Problem is that R.G. blew all his Origin System money going to space... Realistically, the only thing that will bring back Ultima now is if some super rich fan who was once inspired by Ultima buys up the rights from EA. Then goes to R.G. wanting to use the characters that he still owns. And R.G. would most likely agree with the partnership seeing as he still loves his 'baby'. Or something like that... Otherwise EA is just going to bleed it dry... Poor Ultima.

i finished the game even with the bugs, so you can beat the game. one problem i couldnt get out of was going under water to the place where you learn the 3rd 2 handed sword fighting. i could swim back up. I dont find this game disappointing maybe because i have only played Ultima 9. i really like this game. Alice was made a year after this game but you cant do some of the fun things you can do in here.

just played this for the first time last week, after an hour or so when i went to cleanse the shrine of compassion a plotstopper bug occured! to bad!! the rune just dissapeared... a shame really, i liked this game!

You are playing the first release of the game that was released in December of 1998. A patch CD came out subsequent to the initial release. Using this install CD instead of the one you used initially will clear up all the bugs in the version you have. Copies are fairly easy to come by, dated February of 1999, if you are interested.

oh have you seen the tailer for the game, i saw in it there was a deck and a ship came up that wasnt raven's ship and i dont know how to get to that part of the game. And on that deck there was a lever i never fround a deck in the came with one. And did you notice the levers floating in the sky above the shrines? There is a lot above the Honor shrine, i climbed up there stacking my items but when i touched them they did do anything that I saw, do you know?

This game was so disappointing... I was just amazed at how bad it was. What a craptastic end to such a powerful and leading edge RPG series. I join the legions of Ultima fans who refuse to acknowledge that this game is a real Ultima. Awaiting a valid fan-based creation to replace it, couldn't be any worse than the load of feces produced by EA-controlled Origin. A big thanks to EA, who gobbles up smaller game companies and pukes all over them.

They are either from Demo versions, Tech demo's and so on, but I remember the last one being a drawing that was on the inside flap of the box of ultima online the second age.
