@manuelito19821. Do you want the son to be sent to you? but all his sons are uploaded in Youtube. You can listen to any of his son there including those that you are requesting. I enjoy listening them from Youtube.
Remember this well from that majestic 70s LP! As with soem of the old soul songs, and some live Hendrix material, the slightly off-key guitar adds to the mystique and plaintiveness of the whole. We fans hail this true African star, whose genius is in the superficially mundane, everyday subject-matter of his material.
Im 39 and I grow up listening this song: the akien. 500 years back in history, my city, Cartagena, Colombia was the center of the slave trade in the atlantic ocean. Today, the racism is still in place and white people still believe they are better that the majority of people who lives in the city. When this song arrives to the city, the people star to move their bodies, remembering something that run in their veins: the black origin from africa. Viva Afrika!
Prince Nico was my childhood. Countless parties my father hosted with nothing but African highlife music. He still has all the records (vinyl) and that old turntable. I miss those days! Love Live Africa!! We can't lose our history. They don't make music like this anymore. I'm looking for CDs to buy.

I put on my dancing shoes whenever this music plays. Great Icon. My contemporaries think I'm archaic, but I tell them that I know good music when I hear one.
This song and the singer will live forever in my heart. For those wondering who Prince Nico is. He is a Nigerian of Igbo extraction. But he grew up and lived most of his life in SW Cameroun. That is the english speaking part of Cameroun with a large population of igbos. That affected his accent. But he did his songs in pidgin english and igbo. 'Akye' could be a camerounian exclamation. Some of his non english expressions in this song are not igbo. Can A SW Camerounian help.
@ejiogubekee Prince is a true son of Ikom LGA of Cross River state. His mom was Camerounian and so his wife. He grew up and school in Igboland. Thanks for enjoying this legend!!
@cleyecaro ....I would like to know since when Nigerians have the surname Mbarga. You are right in saying that he had parents from both Cameroon and Nigeria but you have it the other way round. The mother was Nigerian and the father from Cameroon.
No, Prince Nico Mbarga's father is an Ewondo man from Cameroon and his mom from Nigeria. It really does not matter what part he comes from. We are sons and daughters from Africa . Lets stop the division and unite with beautiful tunes like these. One thing i know for sure; In Africa, we have the best music and dancers and you wil not find such fantastic music anywhere but in AFRICA!
Prince Nico you remain the prince of my childhood 'coz YOU ROCK!!! RIP.

Still one of Africa's best and still standing and always will!!! God bless you Prince. You are one of a kind and i am proud to be from African! RIP. Amen.
Do you realize that the Goo Goo Dolls' song entitled 'Slide' begins with the same lead guitar strumming. What an amazing coincidence! I know Prince Mbarga released 'Aki Special' before members of the Goo Goo Dolls were even conceived. Talk about Africans setting the music standard.

I was born in cartagena, colombia. I have 37 and since i remember, i hear this song. Every time i listen this song i just cry...its just amazing and unique!!!! there is no song like this ever!
Thanks prince nico, you dont even imagine how much we love you in la costa del caribe colombiano
matter of fact..the russians scam..the Chinese scam..and most of all AMERICANS scam..so just bc Nigerians were blamed for it doesn't mean we do it the most of started it..we are the scapegoat...and besides u must be greedy as hell to get scammed after the FBI said not to send any money to these ppl. DUMMY
lets call a spade a spade, nigerians scam, so what if all those other ppl do, don't make it right, and it's a seriously problem in the country, but i also personally have no problem with it cause idiots will be scammed 1 way or another and i would rather an idiots money go to my country then the hands of other 419ers in the US like Ed Mcman for instance.
this remind me my family when we were posted in Nageria as diplomat. specially my big brother who brought nigerians and their cultures at home...it makes me smile with lot of memories. the shoes etc..
I'm from Barranquilla Colombia this song gave birth to a same style miusic called CHAMPETA., I wonder Prince Nico Mbarga, never imagined he had so much fame in Colombia, this is GOOD MIUSIC !
this album was released during christmas season in Liberia and I was a young teen-ager ...it always lights up my spirit in joy. great thanks for this Amego

it's not only nigerians that scam u idiot!
jadak2332 2 years ago
matter of fact..the russians scam..the Chinese scam..and most of all AMERICANS scam..so just bc Nigerians were blamed for it doesn't mean we do it the most of started it..we are the scapegoat...and besides u must be greedy as hell to get scammed after the FBI said not to send any money to these ppl. DUMMY
jadak2332 2 years ago 2
lets call a spade a spade, nigerians scam, so what if all those other ppl do, don't make it right, and it's a seriously problem in the country, but i also personally have no problem with it cause idiots will be scammed 1 way or another and i would rather an idiots money go to my country then the hands of other 419ers in the US like Ed Mcman for instance.

Prince nico mbarga; born from a nigerian mother ans cameroonian father is a sign of true friendship ans love between the people of both country.
may his soul for ever rest in peace!
solidmaison 2 years ago
He happened to have parents from both countries.that,s it...most cameroonians show little or no love to nigerian.sad true.
