@Rymo18 Actually ya there was the rule back then. And it wasnt about Grier touching Moog. He didnt have to. He was in the crease before the puck was. Plain and simple. Btw I was at that game.
1st point, its '97 and there was no "crease rule" in effect until '98 so your allowed to be in the crease as long as you dont interfere with the goaltender. 2nd point, if you watch the replay CORRECTLY the puck hits Moogs glove, who is in the crease, before Grier even gets close to him when "it" happens. The puck is already in the net when he does skate through the crease. Who did this feature? Was it from Dallas? Retards, whoever it was. "Right on the money" pff, i have to laugh
@NewYorkGiants4Life Stars have 1 Stanley Cup, Back to Back Western Conference Championships & President's Trophies, 7 Division Titles, 12 Playoff Apperances, and 1 Player in The NHL Hall Of Fame.
I was a kid at that game , an amazing comeback by a TRUE underdog, there was no salary cap back then and they had wayyyyyyyy more money than the small market oilers
@PocketHercules99 I was at that game too. Man was I pissed. Im a Stars fan. Can you imagine wearing a Stars jersey in that building that night ? Insane I tell ya. That goal definitely shouldnt have counted but waddya gonna do. Curtis Joseph was UNREAL that series. Thats why we got rid of Moog and brought in Belfour. That changed everything. Took us from damn good to great.
@toughtimes09 Get your head outta your ass. Completely different. Grier wa in the crease when Buchberger shot the puck. Thats illegal. On Hull's goal, he was the shooter. He had possession himself. That was legal.
@tjcurrie Yeah I remember the cup winning goal by Brett Hull. The greatest moment for me in hockey. And I could never understand why there was ever an issue since Bret was handling the puck and then shot it. I think it was just Dallas hating.
@tjcurrie Yeah I remember the cup winning goal by Brett Hull. The greatest moment for me in hockey. And I could never understand why there was ever an issue since Bret was handling the puck and then shot it. I think it was just Dallas hating.
@jkrx karma? It was before they won the cup dumbass. Karma was when they won the cup with Hull's foot in the crease. Backfired BIATCH. Like that Karma?
@seiver1088 Actually when Hulls foot was in the crease he had deflected the puck on goal and scored on the rebound which is a good goal...in this video the skater was in the crease without posseion at all.
modano and zubov r nice guys and great players the rest r normal: good winners bad losers;this was a great Dallas team though they deserved their Cup in '99
I dont see how it made a difference Mike Grier wasnt in the crease when the puck bounced out of that guy's glove and he was in it as soon as it went in.
ya i guess its a game of millimeters when its a stars player in the crease isn't it? "Oh look hulls skate lace is in the crease!!!!! it shouldn't count!" c'mon at least this guy was actually IN the crease....he was behind the friggen goalie!
@oilersrock90 I'd say it's hockey justice if anything. Always liked Dallas because they were a classy team...until Avery really. I know you probably don't like Dallas being an Oilers fan but...
So do I, I want Modano to have a good final year. Nieuwendyk is a better GM than Hull, who only knows how to shoot a puck really (but he did it well). Still, they never should have lost Hagman to acquire Avery.
Well Hagman never really impressed me all that much. Losing Crombeen and Winchester was really bad though. In the west you need height and big bodies and those 2 really could have helped us this year. Lucky for Dallas they have Grossman, Fistric, Barch, Sutherby, and Ott to bang with or we wouldn't have anything because most of our team outside of those guys and MOrrow are skilled players.
Well its okay because Dallas got Redemption and won the cup 2 seasons later....that 1999 goal wasn't the cause of any hardship, we were just getting even that time lol.
u know no matter who says anything it happened its over and the only ones then and now who say no goal are mostly buffalo fans which is understandable. then again i be mad to liveing in buffalo seeing a dallas team always the one beating my teams in championships. lol go cowboys
lol i geuss u didnt listen to any sports caster after the game or the entire month explain that it was a legal goal. learn hockey rules before u say anything.
funny right after the game the OFFICIAL from the NHL said it was a legal goal.
"quote the puck entered the crease before hull and never changed sides so dallas still had control. meaning it was a legal move" maybe if buffalo had a goalie that knew how to cover the puck they would have lasted a little longer against dallas. if the NHL says its a legal goal then how can it be a no goal from buffalo fans. everytime ur team loses doesnt mean u have to make up reason y u lost.
i'm not a fan of buffalo, and you can interpret the rules all you want. but according to the rule book at the time, it should not have been a goal. it was changed in the summer, and everyone except the people of buffalo forgot about it.
if it was a rule at the time then why did the NHL allow it. watch the damn after game videos the NHL reviewed that tape. right after it like they do today in all goal and said it was good. yes i know they changed the rule but u dont know the rule apperently.
You know I watched that video quite a few times to see where Grier's feet were when the puck entered the crease. But when he skated by it was well after buchberger shot the puck and contact wasnt made with the goalie until after the puck deflected off of Moog's glove. At 0:05 when you pause it your can see the puck hitting Moog's glove (who was just inside the crease) and Griere's toe was right near the red line bordering the crease, unless theres an overhead view to really tell, its a goodgoal
Yeah, fuck Hull indeed, because he's the reason why the Sabres couldn't win in 2006 and then again in 2007 when they gallivanted around thinking Ottawa was a pushover. Yeah, blame Hull for the Sabres' stingy owner who didn't want to fork out money to retain Drury or Briere and ended up losing them both to free agency.
Next time you're jerking off and hit your fist on your head, blame Hull for that too...it'll make you feel better.
