It is not fake - it was on the John Boy and Billy radio show that originates from Charlotte, NC. That is Robert D. Raiford reading it, a usually very stoic, serious man. It was so funny to hear him actually lose it on air!

mother is a RN and girlfriend's mother is an LPN. the latter having worked with the mentally ill. many of whom have inserted all sorts of items into their bodies.
however no reports of any live animals. dolls, fish, bolts, bottles, forks, etc. however i have yet to read a single reports of a gerbil or rodent removal.
doctors do indeed make "note" of odd discoveries. a gerbil up an ass would get press in a medical journal, just like a light bulb up the ass has.

The story was conjured up by the DJ of a morning drive time radio show at a popular radio station. It was the news casters birthday and as a joke, he slipped it in his stack of reports. It was broadcast live. They also got in trouble. The news guy had no clue what was going on and read it as he would any other report.
