Those shots by Ali at 05:01 good lord...what kept Frazier up? Beats me...those shots were thunderous and accurate...I guess both men had depleted power by this stage of the fight...greatest fight of all time.
@onlyjoetee Yeah. I believe Eddie(Frazier's trainer) trained Frazier during his camp in using the right hand to have a better chance against Ali. Specifically only for this fight. They worked on using the right hand as an extra weapon and confuse Ali. Its amazing how Ali was still able to prevail...Frazier would have beaten any other heavyweight on this night.
it was probably the best match in boxing history, there are 2 conclusions:1.FOR THE BOXING fans it was good what they did because they gave the world to see an incredible match 2.FOR THEM what they did was bad, because after that match their health started suffering very bad
@VajinalBloodFart I don't think Frazier was Ali's kryptonite. Norton gave Ali more problems than Frazier did. Ali and Frazier were each others' kryptonite is a more fitting phrase. Ali was able to master Frazier at times while he just couldn't master Norton at all.
Have to criticise the editing...this video makes the fight look one-sided in Ali's favour, which just wasn't the way it happened.
Where are the two huge left hooks Joe landed in round 6? Edited out. Where is the image of Ali lifeless and bent over in the 10th, looking like he has nothing left? Edited out.
@garethac81 I would have to agree with you. The last half of the video is only the last 2 rounds which makes it look like Ali overwhelmingly won the fight. Very inaccurate.
@HiMyNameIsRoss Well, the fight is divided into three parts. Ali dominated the early rounds with Frazier dominating the middle rounds and then Ali retook dominance from the 11th round and on...Ali ran away with the fight after the 11th round and the fight was highlighted with the last two rounds in which Ali really put a hurt on Frazier.
Wow, I thought Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 was good but now that I am starting to watch some old school boxing... Damn, this fight was so amazing it was kind of scary :)
@punktheman watch Pac - JMM 1 & 2 here /watch?v=3qCFNeSfVsE (1st and 3rd fight) and then compare them to Pac - JMM 3. Last fight between them was total b.shit. The first two fights are about 123456 times better. Watch them.
i know ali said he wanted to quit during yjt fight and im sure joe wanted too at some point. how could you not! but if they had let these guys keep fighting they would have. coulda been 18 rounds thy woulda if the coulda. no quit in either man.
Even Ali said after that he was thinking about not going out that last round!… and just then they announced that Joe wont continue… no doubt this was nobody's fight… probable the 2 best boxers of their generation… and maybe the best till now… I'am an Forever Ali fan ..but this fight was just too good for both of them…
maximum credit to both men, not just because they wouldn,t back down to each others punishment, but they both had to fight against the intense heat! not just a battle of great boxing, but the battle of will, guts, determination & heart,
OMG! Seriously, who dislikes these videos? seriously. I can barely be bothered or remember to like a video, so who the hell dislikes it? Its getting stupid now, I swear people just do it to think their unique or something. LOSERS!
UFC and all the Kickem when they are down type fighting today, stands as an embarrasment to the pugilistic trade. These were men that fought honorably within the given rules of true boxing. The best UFC champ today would fall to the #5 contender of the the heavyweight era you just watched.
OK, maybe if we lt them kick like girliemen,... they might make it 6 rounds with a real man. like Norton or Fraizer. LOL!
@Ghstwn you obviously dont watch enough ufc, there are plenty of great boxers in ufc(mma) as well. Ever heard of dan henderson, nick diaz, chuck liddell, hell even anderson silva of whom has a very similar style of boxing that ali possessed. And the whole kicking a downed opponent isnt in ufc, ur thinking of pride which had vale tudo rules
@Ghstwn btw the whole "kick like girliemen" is very disrespectful. They are not ppl who just kick cuz they are scared to get close to their opponent, they are fighters who train months on end to have the ability to kick ur head off
@ufcaddict92able Wow! You are very sharp tonight. As I read your reponse, seems were discontented with my comment, correct? Let me clarify: "It was meant to be disrespectful Edison". Very disrespectful actually. :O
Thats not skill. That's simple steet brawling. This is why boxing put bare knuckle fighting in the past at the turn of the 20th century. Then in the 80's reduced rounds from 15 to12. You are entertained by that kind of fight? Then we know enough about you already. ;)
@Ghstwn you're retarded there is so much more in mma then boxing. there are muay thai fighters, normal boxers, wrestling, karate, tae kwon do, judo, bjj. so ya there is a great amount of skill in mma. i like boxing too the sport has turned to total shit; a lot of the boxing matches nowadays are fixed. with mma on the other hand anything can happen thats what makes the sport entertaining. so ya u do know something about me i like mma. a lot of ppl do, thats y ufc ppv is beat boxing ppv
Daaaaammmmm ali is not one to give props to any of his opponets but joe deserves every bit of it I wish u woulda had him talkin about the fight after and joe that man has heart and chin he's a champ in my eyes next to ali good vid
The scores at the end of the fight did not reflect the intensity of the fight, for it was really much closer: 8-5-1, 8-2-4 and 9-3-2, in the order of ali-frazier-even. The referee Carlos Padilla's was the closest, he had it even at 5-5-1 after 11 rounds. But Ali won the last three rounds in his scorecard.
Former heavyweight world champion Joe Frazier was arrested in February 2004 after police responded to a 911 domestic violence call from his North Philadelphia home. When police arrived a woman, the mother of Frazier's son, answered the door. She told the police that Frazier had hit her and there were injuries to her face to back up the claim. The charges were later dropped, after the woman refused to testify against Frazier.
@IronReef77 It was changed because korean boxer Duk Koo Kim died after a fourteen round fight. I saw the story of Duk Koo Kim and it was amazing, he just wouldn't give up even when he was badly beaten. Yeah, I don't think they will change it since two boxers died after that (Duk Koo Kim's opponent committed suicide).
15 rounds are horrific, 12 rounds are more than enough. that was a great match though it should have ended in 12 rounds ... in the last ones they were barely standing, they tired each other off badly
I still think Frazier better than Ali. He showed courage & was the real black man back then. I am a white man & very sorry for how my Ancestors treated you.
One thing you should add to the end of your video is that between rounds 14 and 15 Ali asked Dundee to stop the fight because he had nothing left. Angelo Dundee looked over to Frazier's corner and could see that Butch was stopping the fight so, of course, Dundee didn't obey Ali. That's how close it was; not close in terms of points but as a pure fight. Frazier wanted to continue but his trainer wouldn't allow it. Ali was done but as fate would have it, Dundee spotted Lewis stopping the fight.
Great fight, but I prefer the first one. I realize I'm in the minority when I say that. The reason is that they were much better fighters then; in their prime (although Ali may have been in his prime as Clay).
After the events that have transpired this past week, with Joe's passing and all... anyone else get tears in their eyes watching this? Crazy stuff... RIP Joe, you're a legend. What a man, no one can match Smokin' Joe for heart. Arrghhh, got something in my eyes again god dammit.
always an Ali fan but too much respect for those great fighters, Frazier had a hell of a heart and what a great fighter.. and no one in boxing wants to be called less than 'a great fighter' RIp Joe.
What a fight!!! now that is boxing!!.. Im seeing Mayweather vs Pacquiao if that fight ever happen, people will watch it after 40-50 yrs just the way we watching this videos ... 2 Great fighters
Wow one of the greatest fights of all time, greatest rivalry of all time. BTW the second song is Lux Aterna (it was in requiem for a dream). Best highlight of this fight I have seem. Ali: author of the greatest 14th round in heavyweight boxing history. Like Ali said Frazier is the second best to ever get in the fight game.
TWO THUBMS UP! - and, by the way. Time it out with a stopwatch; this is DEFINITELY faster than the actual time. Regardless of your 30/25 argument - it it's 1:1, that means we're getting a 16% increase in speed, which explains why a minute on the game clock only takes 53 seconds or so....

@CentinelThe I'm sure millions are with Joe. He has fought harder fights in his life. He needs our support, no doubt.
