Hey man, thank you so much for your kind message! I've just watched your video and I must say I love your groove, and your tone is awesome! Also enjoyed the way you use the effects. Very musical. Keep the great work up! :)
Nice tone, nice licks -- fretless bass is a whole 'nother sound, very earthy and ethereal at once --
I had a '70 jazz bass, and never liked the neck, the taper was too severe, too narrow at the nut and wide at the heel - a P-bass feels better; or something like an old Guild bass or Gibson EB3, with a D-profile neck and an almost constant neck width top to bottom - those are treat to play. Though my favorite bassist always was Jack Bruce...
I asked Todd what effects he was using on this solo.....his responds. "A touch of Chorus and Flange placed just underneath the sound coming off the neck." The reverb is coming from the main room, there is an open door to one of the enormous rooms, sound is bouncing back...this solo and the band's CD was recorded in a Castle in upstate New York...huge rooms, huge sound. Thanks for the comments, keep the questions and comments coming, you guys rock !!!
