Hey Evan next show you should talk about the disgrace that is MTG online again. I thought that you had said enough about how bad it was, but with recent lag issues man was I wrong
Well, true that. But the players seem to have a tendency of finding out the most powerful decktypes, and at least to me it seems that red and white both gained a lot from Conflux, resulting in a very heavy Boat Brew presence in PT Kyoto. And I really don't think this came as a surprise for WotC.
Well, yeah. I mean, if there was a deck monstrosity like Faeries running around, what would you do? I mean, hell, would you rather have the days of Ravager Affinity back?
"Hey, guys, we screwed up with Affinity, so we're going to print a ridiculous amount of hosers in Kamigawa. Not only that, the hosers are not even going to be powerful enough, so we're just going to have to ban Affinity in standard and acknowledge that the metagame for these past few years was a waste of time. Have fun!"
I think we all had a deck with Swans and Pyroclasm. It's an obvious synergy. I've had one since the card itself came out. Mine featured Knollspine Invocation and Squee. I called it "Squee's Burning Chick... er, Swan". But in the end, it was the Japanese addition of the Seismic that helped push this deck.
In all honesty, I'm quite aware of that. But mine was almost exactly their list, but without the Seismic, that's the only difference... Oh and perhaps Plumeveil and Fallout, but it *was*months before Conflux. Anyway, I did my research and I was pretty sure that almost everyone forgot about it because of all the Shards of Alara hype.
I'm tired of saying it... I made Seismic Swans (without Seismic) MONTHS ago. You go to MTG Forums, search Sleeping_Insomniac and Chicken Waffles is the deck's name. But oh well. I'm glad the Japanese played it. Chicken Waffles, at least name it that and give me credit. lol
i usualally love the magic show but lately it seems a bit lack-lustre, nasiff isnt exactly the most interesting player, should of got an interview with orsisni-jones and see how it feels to be on the recieving end of that top deck
Does anyone know how many people were playing on the last Magic cruise. 50 open spots doesn't seem like alot of spots. Do you have to be pro to go? When I went to the website all the info was for the old cruise.
actually, every 6/10 decks run goyf and every 4/10 decks run counter top (mtgthesource).
Other than Goblins (for pure aggro), there is Boros, Sligh, WW, and B aggro which are other decks that will never die...don't always believe what the Vintage players tell you, because most of the time there is Legacy information could be less than half baked...
But that's only counting the established archetypes. Also, while that seems less daunting, about half the decks running Counter-Top is still scary since you're forgetting the number of people playing those decks.
no, I am putting all of this into perspective, Counter-Top doesn't fit into every U coded deck, nor does it fit into every Threshold or Landstill/Dreadstill deck. Even if they did run that tactic, it eats up a lot of time and resources to put it together and make it effective....

From faerie-flooded metagames to boat brew-flooded metagames in one set. Good job, Wizards. Good job at replacing one monstrosity with another. __b
muhtimin 3 years ago
its not wizards, its the players. Players will follow what they think is the best.

Its not that amazing, its that broken card reveilark combined with a great planeswalker ajani vengeant and some good triggers. Reveilark is to blame

He's so right... the divining/counterbalance is such a pain... I'm glad it's banned in extended tough. ._.
Plumeveil 3 years ago
It's a pain, but trust me, as a Legacy player who goes against it a lot, you can disrupt it fairly easily if you come prepared.
