  • Fellow Californian! Must ask, is all this nonsense with bullet buttons and 922r compliance worth the trouble for the "true AK" look???

  • also, what does a red dot run you

  • Anyone know how to fix a regular meg to fit the saiga? i got a sure fire meg but only one...the promax meg sux

  • Anyone else hear Nickolas Cage?.... im not meaning this as a insult either.

  • @131JOHAN131 Nickolas Cage??? Haha..

  • @noBuzzkillin hell yeah man... i hear his voice with whom is talking hahaha

  • @noBuzzkillin WTF man? Are you Italian Irish or something? I have a few movie posters if you don't mind autographing them.

Thank you for these video about the saiga. I want to get one but have no idea what the conversion entails. I originally thought modifying parts would make the rifle less reliable, but then I remembered that the ak is made with loose tolerances.

  • @aaronscrewme Haha.. Where did THAT come from ... Italian Irish? Just curious.

  • @aaronscrewme i bought mine converted off gunbroker. com for like 300$

  • @mrpops09 0_0 was this 5 years ago?

  • @aaronscrewme lol try 5 months.... i got a great deal

  • Damn I hate Commyfornia's ignorant laws, so glad I moved from there! Nice rifle though and great review.

  • @drunkenpumkin Thanks.

  • @corleonesis Thank you.

  • badass saiga man so its legal to do a saiga conversion kit in cali??

  • @boozeye66 With fixed mags, yes.

  • Can you tell me the model of UTG rail you are using? This is the first UTG rail I have seen that almost covers the entire gas tube, I really like the look of that. Thank You!

  • @11Shots11kills Thw just call it the UTG Quad Rail. Check out carolinashooterssupply. They usually have them for about 85 bucks. I'm actually going to sell this one if your interested in a used one. Might be able to figure out a trade. Its just sitting there.

  • is there like a 922 enforcement squad that runs around and counts US made parts on rifles? wonder how that works.

  • @steelfury455 I've never heard of any prosecutions, but I'd hate to be the first one so I keep right in the lawful zone always.

  • @ATTICUSFINCH51

I'm just greatful it's not Australia, now that place sucks donkey nuts to own guns in.

  • You know of a good site to buy 10 round 7.62x39 Saiga magazines?

  • @Ulysses1994XF04 I've had pretty good luck at carolinashooterssupply. Take a look there.

  • @noBuzzkillin

    Thank you good sir!

  • I saw that you wrote numbers on your mags. Where did you buy your good paint markers? I can't find them anywhere!

  • @HarpDBigglesworth I just use acrylic pens from the art store. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

  • @ATTICUSFINCH51 It's my home man.

  • @noBuzzkillin still sucks lol but yeah at least you can have 1

  • Good lookin' rifle. Sucks that you don't live in a free state.

  • @SlaughterOtter Thanks.

  • The only properly lighted saiga review on youtube. Thankyou.

  • @flyingkumchunks Thanks. This vid is kind of old and I sound tired and kind of pissed off. Haha. I like what I'm making now better. Thank you for watching.

  • @FJW1495 Thedifference between the weight of the OE for end and the UTG is minimal.

  • Great looking gun. NO AK's allowed here in CT aside from 22LR, and even then I would imagine its not as fun as the 7.62. Thanks for sharing!

  • @SnakeStrike77 Ypu are welco e brother.

  • Oh and also...move out of CA already. Sheesh. Commie state.

  • @smttysmth02gt Haha.. Common now. Its my home man.

  • @noBuzzkillin I'm just saying...

If my home turned into commie land I'd move.

  • @smttysmth02gt Fair enough. For me, It's not that simple to move away from family and friends though just for bang bang. And therwise, the state is awesome where I live. Beautiful outdoors and cool people. No complaints, and heck, it's my home. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts, and I am definitely frustrated by the gun laws here too..

  • @noBuzzkillin Cool Saiga sorry abour the retarded California laws I live in Virgina and rather enjoy my 75 round drums just wondering though did you ever have anything other than the grip mounted on the rail? just seems like an awfull lot o weight for a fore grip

  • @wild50gunner It's very light actually. But see my more recent vid on this rifle. I changed the configuration quite a bit. Thanks for watching buddy. And yes, I've had lights, red dots, and vert grips mounted up there.

  • Do you think there would be any benefit to getting a regular saiga and fixing it up, rather than a regular AK? I mean, if they are about the same price that is. I know Izmash supposedly has the best lowers but I'm not too sure of anything else.

I've been tossing around the idea of adding an AK or 2.

  • @smttysmth02gt Personally, I think the Saiga restoration is the way to go, but you need to be a little technical and into a project like that.

  • @noBuzzkillin Ok....why though? What's the benefit? (other than a stronger lower)

  • Im still thinking about converting my Saiga. But Im not sure yet.

  • @knowthetruth1492 Do it man. Not that hard and a lot of fun actually. I'm considering doing another one and making a conversion vid. There are others out there, but a newer one might be in order.

  • @noBuzzkillin ,I would love to do it but I spent most of my money on ammo, range visits, and survival gear. I just really need a gun that I can shoot, with plenty of ammo, and won't fail. Plus, I just added a ghetto bullet guide made of aluminium from a can. So now my saiga can use my steel AK mags.

  • @noBuzzkillin I have a question, what about threading a barrel and muzzle breaks? I've heard of people chopping off the last two inches and the muzzle and getting a break put on, is there anyway to get a to thread the barrel as is? I know you're in California, but I was curiouse if you know

  • U can use standard high capacity AK-47 mags, but you need to modify them a bit. If you look at them the only real diff is the front of the Saiga mag is built up in the front to act as a bullet guide, all you need to do is build up the standard mag with weld to make it look like the Saiga mag, clean up with a grinder, and paint!! I have done this to a few mags, and it works flawlessly.

  • @greasegun07 If you want to use standard AK mags, the way to go is to install a bullet guide from Dinzag. You will have to drill and tap, but its pretty easy. I live in Ca., so regular capacity magazines are out anyway. Thats the only reason I did not go that route.

  • @noBuzzkillin BTW. When you install the bullet guide, you do NOT need to modify the mags at all, which I am definitely not a fan of.

  • can u give me a parts list on what i need to move the trigger assembly foward ... i have serched all over the place and can not get a list on what parts i need to buy and which ones i can reuse ... and sry i know you gave a breef description of pistol grip conv. but i am very gun parts smart .. i need a list for dummy if you dont mind helping me out thanks

  • @cwbeasy1987 No problem man. I'll try to PM you the spechs from when I did my conversion.

  • Great vid , you did a good job on the rifle. Will the Saiga accept standard AK magazines?

  • @CheapBasket Thanks bud, much appreciated. Working on getting better. Short answer is NO, it will not straight out of the box. But you can put in a bullet guide from Dinzag (for example) that will allow it to do that. I would have absolutely done that if I wasn't living in Ca., but here there is just no point.

  • Did you use a retaner plate or clips for your pins?

  • @Omnignosis I did use the retaining plate. Bought it from carolinashooterssupply. Great vendor, fast shipping.

  • @noBuzzkillin

Cool, I'll probably use that too.

  • love the look of that saiga! i also live in california and i own a saiga 223

  • @zhagray Its a great rifle. Thanks.

  • Sexy bitch .

  • thanks man

  • were did you get your mags at?

  • @buttfaces1992 I just searched around a bit for Surefire Saiga 10 round mags. Honestly can't remember where I bought them, but I found a place (a while ago) that was selling them for about $24. DPHARMS has em' for about $29.

  • were did you buy your mags at?

  • have you found any cheaper hand guard retainers to change the hanguards to put an ak foregrip on? the only one i can find are 54 bucks. and is it easy to install the handgrip? i have a 7.62 by the way.

  • Sorry if I'm misunderstanding you, but are you asking about cheaper handguards? If so, then yes, there are much cheaper alternatives to a quadrail. Galil or the Surefire hg cost about 40 bucks I think.

  • you just made me not want to go to California ever

  • California is a great place man. Don't let the jacked gun laws keep you away. There's a lot more that makes it very much worth it.

  • what model Saiga did you start with?

  • I started with the 7.62x39 model, sporterized configuration.

  • Great vid, did you do the conversion yourself? I've been looking to get a saiga also and do the conversion but not sure if I should spend the extra money and time on it since I have quite a few ak's already. I like how you had the mag dimples pressed in for a more authentic look to. Also how is the accuracy?

  • Hey man. Yes, I did do the conversion myself. Wasn't that big of a deal at all, and at the end of the day, you have a Russian made AK. Extra money, no. Extra time, just a little. My first conversion I did in about 3 hours all in. As for money, you would be hardpressed to get anything for a better price in my experience. Saiga 7.62x39 for about $350, then add MAYBE $300 in parts (and you could do it for less). With optics etc., I'm a little more into mine, but you can be done for $550 or so.

  • If you want to look more into doing your own "conversion" (restoration is a better word), then let me know, and I can try to shoot you some links to vids etc. to get you started. As for the DIMPLES... Mine came with from the factory. There are some 'undimpled' Saigas out there, but often the vendor will specify with or without. If you don't want to do the conversion yourself, check out the Arsenal rifles. They've been coming down in price lately, but you've probably seen them. SGL20.. very sweet

  • What is the weight of the UTG Rail?

  • As far as I've heard, the UTG weighs slightly LESS than the original handguard. I would guess its just about the same, but I have not weighed it myself. It is not very heavy (aluminum).

  • GERAT!!!!!!

  • nice vid..
