Arnel is a good singer with incredible range, but he lacks emotion for the songs. When I saw them in concert, all the songs were flat and empty. Why don't they all put their egos aside and ask Steve Perrt back?! If the Police can do it, so can they.

Arnel Pineda has an incredible voice. He is fantastic live. I can't speak of the studio, since that isn't where he is working right now. I suspect he will surpass Steve Perry there, though, since Pineda's voice is strong in it's tenor, even stronger and purer than Perry's was. Remember, Perry lipsynced alot, his tenor was pure, but it died out on the tour. I won't pretend to know why, but Pineda is standing up there *singing*.

I expect great things from Arnel Pineda.

HI All. I like all versions of Journey and have high opinions of Perry in his prime. Saw them in the 80's and they were great....but I have to agree that the Augeri voice is better on this song than Arnel's version. Even the other newer live vids of Arnel singing this song just doesn't do it for me. The 2001 DVD is the best.

And the Chile concert was performed just hours after he signed his contract. They kinda did the sink or swim thing. Can you imagine going from a small bar crowd to an audience that size? He must have still been in shock. But you never see it. It's as if they have been playing together forever.

Yeah, he does struggle with the top notes. I think some of it may have been nerves, but it's certainly a challenge pull these songs off every night. Even Perry was backing way off the higher notes by the time the Raised On Radio tour rolled around. Arnel does a fine job though - so does Deen.

I think the reason this is pretty much my favorite song from Journey is because it has that rockin Frontiers sound, great lyrics, the vocals are awesome w/ an a capella part, and they get to jam live. Neal's always doing something new when they play this live I love it. Then there's like the polar opposite: Faithfully. It's like this song inside out. Hard for me to pick which one I like more.
